I'm getting this because it's on PS2 mostly. If it was next-gen console exclusive, I'd get only Rock Band no matter how cluttered you've been told it was.

I never really liked GH until the other week. I had GH one, beat most of Expert within 3 days, and then just kinda put it in the corner. Nothing was that fun about it. Then I played a little bit of GH2 on my neighbors 360 and man, the songs are too good. Fun patterns and all that. I've only played GH in general like 10 times, but I'm looking to jump into these kinda brutal songs right away =P.

I've seen the list of the older songs, and the only one I knew about was 'Killer Queen'. I don't know many rock songs. I tend to stick to Capcom Sound Department. *cough*

Also, I'm looking forward to Rock Band more. I have high hopes for both of them being good rhythm games, when taken in a bare-bones stance, but Rock Band offers much more.

I don't think so. Regardless of my desire to beat every member of Guns n Roses to a bloody pulp, the fact that they're sticking in real life "legendary" guitarists is a bit ridiculous in my opinion. The entire roster of characters in the Guitar Hero games are stereotypes and homages to real life guitarists and "rock god" lifestyles. Putting them against real rock and roll stars just fucks with the universe and is an incredibly stupid idea.

Agreed, and Velvet Revolver sucks anyway.
As far as fucking up the universe goes, the thing is that the characters are SUPPOSED to be as big, if not bigger, than Slash. Saying "We put Slash in the game as a boss!" diminishes the impact of the original characters.
It worked with Def Jam : Vendetta and Fight for New York because the games were built ground-up for real star characters. GH already has 2 installments sans Slash.
