I'm wonder how long do all of your DS battery lives last on a full charge.

I'm asking because my Battery life on my DS(Original) is about 3 hours on a full charge which seems odd to me. Should I invest into a new DS battery? :yuusaku:

Yes, you need a new battery. I don't think I would be able to play using a 3 hour battery.

Edit: My Lite gets a good long time. I don't really pay attention.

My original DS has around 4 to 6 hours, I guess. Since there's always a socket somewhere near (really. Even in the bush of Costa Rica I could charge my DS >8U) it isn't much of a problem.

Depends. I Have a DS Lite and it lasts about 6-8 Hours. If I drop it a lot (Klutzy me, lol), it lasts for less time.
My Mom has the original DS, Her's is always on the charger, unless she's traveling.

Does what you have running on it affect how long the battery lasts? I remember when I played Animal Crossing, the battery would drain really fast. (cuz of the 3D graphics I'd imagine?) If I'm playing PW, it takes forever to drain. Sometimes I also set my DS alarm to wake me up, so I'd imagine that all factors into the battery life somewhat.

Yes. If you use WI-Fi for example, the battery will drain faster. The back light also uses more battery power. When I'm playing my Lite I turn down the light when I see the red light and it turns to green.

Hm...well, if I'm playing Elite Beat Agents my Lite loses power in about four hours. A game like Phoenix Wright is good for about 5 to 6 hours. So, I'm estimating 4-6 hours.

Using the touch screen also drains battery power faster.

I have a real old origional DS named Spandexter. (Covered in "Now with SPANDEX" stickers. Don't ask) I never turn it off. I usually play off and on frequently instead of for a long time at one place, but I'm sure I get more than three hours before even hitting red.
Also, if I leave it on and closed it can sit like that for over a week.

I love full back light and full volume, my battery doesn't. I stick to low light and no sound when not at home and it lasts loooooooong.

I have an original DS. I'll trust Tinker's answer since mine is usually always plugged in and say it lasts for 4 to 6 hours. If I'm playing a GBA game, it'll usually last twice as long.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

I just remembered that my DS has been sitting on empty charge ever since I got my 360.

The battery is probably fucked. :(

my old ds was starting to lose it's ability to hold a charge. instead of trying to find a replacement battery, i saved up for the lite.

i think the lite ended up having a longer initial battery life than the original did

Actually, it's recommended that a lithium(?) rechargeable battery be completely drained before recharging it, and if you leave it in storage, it's best to be completely drained as well. At least, if you want the optimum lifespan (that is, for the original full-charge to deplete slower than usual)

It's not uncommon for rechargeable batteries to lose full-charge time over long periods due to decay and wear and tear on the chemicals, so if you're still using your DS Brick, now may be the time to replace it depending on how often you use it.

And knowing you, BP, I think you use it a lot! :gant:

I've been a stickler about this, myself. I've been using my lite quietly and at low brightness with little noticable change in total battery life over the year and a half that I've had it. My little brother, on the other hand, was not aware of this, and his battery now only lasts 3-4 hours.

With it everyone saying they get at least over 5 hours on their DS, it's definitely for me to invest into a new one. Hopefully, If I get some money for the Holidays, I'll pick up soon or maybe even get on of those ones with the extended battery life. :sal:

You know, I actually didn't know that. And that last part, that's an major understatement. And now that I have less internet access, I'm playing it even more now then ever before.

On one hand, I want to say "not long enough".

On the other hand, I tested mine the other day on the settings I normally keep it at (no backlighting, no sound, playing PW without using the touchscreen whenever possible) and it lasted just short of 13 hours, so.

Then again, mine is still relatively new.

Put your battery into the freezer for an hour and take it out trust me it works with my phone too. My Ds lite lasts 12 hours on full light and an amazing 25 hours on dimmest light.

I don't know if you have Phantom Hourglass yet but there is a DS lite bundle with a special Triforce DS! Either that or order a new battery from Nintendo.

I don't know how long it lasts in hours (seeing as how my DS playing is near stopped, due to obsession with the internet) but I've had times where I've accidentially left it on all night. So, guessing that I played it for a couple hours beforehand, about 11 hours. Approx.

That's what I was considering but I can't seem to find the price for it and all the game places around me are competely sold out of all DS systems. So, I'm gonna have to wait a while. :payne:
