I have always thought the Wii's Internet Channel was crap. I mean crap with a capital C. It was nifty, but it was also slow and the text was hard to read. Luckily that was the trial version. I'm typing this now on the full version, and I have to say, this is a huge improvement. Loading is almost instant, text is now readable, more sound effects are present, and I think it has more plugins since the CR forum banner is now showing up on here. I can now bear web surfing on Wii. What do you guys think of it?

Lessee...

A feature so useless I can't foresee ANYONE using it...

Let's hope NiGHTS Wii uses it like it will allegedly use the Weather Channel.

Actually, there is a real good use. Say there's something you want to watch something on Youtube or something like. If you want other people to see it, people no longer have to huddle around the computer to see it. Now they can sit comfly in their living rooms.

I just downloaded it. It's so much faster! I'm not typing on it right now though. I watch Youtube on the Wii too. It's nice to see everything nice and big on the t.v. and not the computer moniter. I read on the screen that the internet channel is going to be free until the end of June 2007.

It's a huge improvement over the trial version, I might actually use it sometimes.

...And how would NiGHTS use it? >_>

I ain't no game developer! :P

Seriously, I have no idea. I just tossed the name there since they intend to use the Weather Channel.

Lame weather changing effects, as seen in Flight Simluator X? If they could figure out how to get that to make some effect on gameplay, that might ... be sort of neat.

Wait, is the full version free?
And when they say that it will be free until June, do they mean that if you get it before then it will be free, or you have to pay after June 2007?
There just be a Dr. Grey addon to the Weather Channel...

I'm assuming the full version is free to download until June 2007. I don't think they have a subscription system for anything on the Wii... yet.

It's definitely good for Youtube stuffs.

However I can't help but feel that typing is a pain. I see it as typing with one finger. Only much slower.
Unless I can hook up a USB keyboard dongle thing, I don't see the point.
Or can you use one?

Correct. It's free until the end of June 2007, afterwards it's 500 Wii points ($5). And there isn't, and never will be, any kind of subscribing on Wii.

I guess I could afford the internet channel for $5. Is this a monthly fee though?

I also hope there will be some kind of keyboard for the Wii. Picking one letter at a time sure gets tiring. I think I'm getting faster at typing on the Wii though. (Wii typing right now.)

Err. Doesn't appear to be free to download for me. Guess it's different for Europeans. Oh well.

For me it is, actually. It costs five euros in Juli, but for now it's free Eh?

And yes, it's a huge improvement. It's still not worth typing on it, but watching YouTube movies full-screen on your television is very nice.

Thanks to an upgrade from Super Paper Mario, the Wii finally recognized my router, so I can finally enjoy the full benefits I've been missing out on (save for the two or three times it worked before that). I have to say, while the Internet Channel is a bit difficult to use at first, it's actually kinda fun now. I've been using it for the whole day while my computer's been kinda wonky.
