Instead you have to purchase the ending seprately!

http://www.bingegamer.net/2008/epics-ca ... dings-dlc/

That'd be like to complete GS5 you finish 4 of the cases, then get the 5th. I guess the game companies are tired of the "used game" buisness. :nick:

Of all the bad ideas, this might even beat out the "Launch Price" for the Playstation 3...

When someone rents a game, they aren't playing a DEMO!!! That's basically what all the games are if this goes through: Playable Demos that can't be officially beaten unless you pay the extra cash.

Also, lets say someone, ANYONE, wants to only see how the game ends... they can just punch in the code, and end the game in 5, 10, 30 minutes TOPS, depending on the length of the Final Boss battle...

Also, how the HELL would the game be able to function, in the terms of an RPG!? You build and customize your teams and stats, attacks, magic, and of course, Item Collection... So how would that work if you were supposed to download the Final Battle & Ending, if the game doesn't even know how you played it!?

I don't mind if it doesn't have an ending if it meant to be like that
I don't mind if the game is like .hack
I do mind if I have to pay extra JUST to see the ending.

*beats the stuper rediculus hard mother fudgeys of a boss and gets the message of If you want to see the ending send in $10 to this address..blah blah.*

You never played MMORPG games before? I'm sure the final boss & ending would function the same way.

I play MapleStory (Not much anymore though...), and I'm aware that to get to Hooktail, and BEAT Hooktail, it's generally a good idea to raise your levels and master your "Class"...

What I'm saying is that if this goes through, the number of games that will end up having these kinds of "Downloadable Endings" won't matter as much as WHAT games will have them... MMORPGs lack any official "Ending", so they come up with different ideas such as ultra-hard bosses, a "Faux-Final Boss", etc... Lets face it, WoW doesn't end. MapleStory doesn't end.

MMORPGs don't actually "End". You beat the biggest challenge, so they'll make new ones to challenge you. With video games, the theory is shattered: You play the game, you beat the game, you get everything in the game (Assuming it has Collection Quests), and that's all...

If they took games and gave them DIFFERENT Endings that were downloadable with new levels, etc., then I would approve, but this is all for the ONE ending you'd get at the end of the game...

And Lord Above, help those people who play these "Downloadable Endings" games, that have MULTIPLE endings, or DIFFERENT endings based on progress like Chrono Trigger or Silent Hill 2, etc.

And before my rant is over, I just wanna leave you guys with two more things to chew on: Would they do this with XBOX Live Arcade, Wii Virtual Console, etc., games as well?

And wouldn't Youtube Videos of the endings ruin the POINT of everyone else downloading the endings?

That's crazy.

I buy a new game for £30, or whatever the American equivalent is, I'm playing through, happy as a Child in a toy store, then I have to pay even more money to see just the ending? What. The. Hell. Are they thinkin'?

EA Games and Namco have already started doing this, except EVERYONE has to pay that extra $20 (even more than that, actually) to get the full game.

That's really annoying that they would do such a thing. You can only get the ending if you buy the retail? Puh-leeze, that is going to backfire so badly.

First off, internet will most likely explode with places to download the ending for free. And second, if they do do it by "code system", holy crap, how hard is it to tell people the code?
Oh man, I hope they don't try this. :sadshoe:

Here's my main problem with this: what if the game becomes really hard to find or old? I mean, the only way I could even get the first Phoenix Wright game was through the used games section in GameStop. Because it was nowhere to be found. Let's say they tried to do this to....... the original Chrono Trigger game (let's pretend one wanted the PS version, not DS). Okay, how the heck do you find the original Chrono Trigger nowadays? I highly doubt they even have it to buy, retail version, on Amazon. So what do you do? Easy, you buy a used copy. But, yikes, you have to have this special code/pay money to this special place to get the ending. Could the person include the code? Sure, as likely as they'll include the guide! (okay, some people are nice enough to do that, but sometimes others lose it, don't have it, etc.)

Anyway, all I'm saying in a calm manner is that this is not a good idea... and is likely to backfire. :sadshoe:

This wouldnt last long even if they did it. Gamers would be pissed about it causing a lot of them to not even bother buying the games anymore, causing less games to be sold, making the companys even more in crisis.

This is what Beautiful Katamari does (which is worse);

You pay $60 for the game.
When you get home, you realize you only have access to 2/3s of the game... and that 2/3s of the game isn't even half the game the original Katamari Damacy was.
You then have to pay an additional $30 online for the final third of the game.
After paying an extra $30 to complete the game, you find out the additional levels are the same levels you were already playing with different item layouts.

Congratulations, you just paid $90 for Beautiful Katamari, which is half as good and long as the original, $20 Katamari Damacy.

Namco got the idea to do this from EA Games, though I don't know which games specifically.

Cae, I think it only would apply to newer games. =\

And more than likely they'd do what is done with CD Keys - make them synonymous with the CD YOU have.

... You know, this also means that people could SELL the CD Key with the CD back to Gamestop and someone could get it... (Please don't let them be smart enough to lock out the Key once it's used...)

Either way, I swear if they do this, I will never buy a Next-Gen game again. I will buy a Retro Duo, a Gen-X, an Atari 2600, and load up on retro games. (And then load up on PS2/Gamecube/etc. and below)

((WHAT!? Beautiful Katamari doesn't have everything in it!? *didn't know that...* And I even bought it new too... DAMN IT, NAMCO!))

Too true...at any rate, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who would be annoyed at playing the new Zelda, then have to pay 500 Wii Points just to see the ending of Link and Zelda having sex.

At least, that's going by what Nintendo have said so far...XD

That's how it'd be with it. Taking the SNES one as an example. You finish the 3 cups, then find out there's the special cup, which you have to pay for seprately :yuusaku:

Not sure whether this has been pointed out, however this only applies to pre-owned and rent-only games. So, if you buy the game new, you'll get the code; if the game is pre-owned or rented, you lose the ending and have to pay for a new one. So it's just a way for developers to gain money from pre-owned and rent-only games - which they don't make money out of.

But this is where it gets ugly. When we rent a game or buy it pre-owned, we expect the FULL game, not some demo that ends 3/4 of the way through. I can understand that the developers would want some profit from them, but making crippled games that you need to buy new in order to fully enjoy the experience seems like a greedy move. If you're concerned about it, then make new games a lot cheaper (they're $99AUD for a new game down in Australia). A lot of people wait to buy a game pre-owned so they can get it cheaper; you'll get a lot more money this way devs.

This sucks. Period.
I'm especially agreeing on the "What when new games get old and you HAVE to buy it used, but the code isn't avaible anymore?" issue since I'm a big fan of retro gaming. Games that will be "old" in some years would most likely don't provide me with a code anymore, so I would have to get the code illegally.

Wow. Awesome.

... Honestly, what's up with all that "BLARGLFARGL BASH THE PEOPLE WHO BUY USED COPIES BLARGLFARGL" currently? EA Games already got me boycotting them since they started using that shitload of **** called SecurROM. What's up with you people?! Do you really want to force me to pirate games since more and more I can buy nowadays is basically a broken game?

The point is not everybody can afford to buy the games new (or are just looking to save money, what's wrong with that?). In fact the Gamestop i went to has both new and used GS4's. Guess which one i'm gonna get? (provided someone doesn't beat me to it).
