For example, people who love like The World Ends With You would probably really enjoy the anime Gantz, because TWEWY is a complete rip off of Gantz in every single way except for one; Instead of body suits, they use metal pins.
Another example would be the Disgaea series. If you really enjoy Disgaea, then you should look into the anime series called Excel Saga. It's the exact same kind of twisted, beat-the-shit-out-of-clichés humour.

SIGN - Best of all.
Illuminality - I didn't see all of it, but it's kinda like an animated behind-the-screen of the game's storyline, so meh.
Legend of the Twilight - It's okay, but so freaking easy to make an abridged series out of.
Roots - I didn't like it because the main character had the same personality and voice as Sasuke from Naruto.
But you're all forgetting the second best .hack// piece of anime: .hack//GIFT. You must admit it was quite amusing.

The DS version of the first Disgaea game is coming out next month. It includes all of the bonus features from the PSP version plus more, such as the lead artist's signature character as a hidden unlockable.
In fact, I demand every person with a DS to get Disgaea DS. There's no excuse not to. NOT EVEN LACK OF FUNDS.

I think I just worded it pretty oddly.
What I meant was yes, it's good; yes it's canon; but it's more of a novelty episode or parody than anything so it's the overall least of your worries of watching what when it comes to .hack anime.
