Units you wish to see in Advance Wars?Topic%20Title

What units did you want to see in Advance Wars?

In Advance Wars 4, i wanted to see Snipers. They would be like Anti-Tank units, except they are good against Infantry,Mechs and Recons? Would come in squads of 5, have quite a far sight range and cost around 4000.

Also "sub-powers" like co-powers but obtained when meeting certain conditions (powers would be one time use)

Night Attack (Capture 51% or more cities)
Next turn, enemy loses 2 sight range.

Blitzkrieg (Capture 51% or more factories)
Sort of like Sensei's co-powers, spawn tanks on all factories that are unoccupied, tanks are ready to move.

Blackout (The enemy controls 51% or more airports)
All of your cities, factories etc. (excluding HQ) appear Neutral to the enemy for 1 turn.

Propaganda (Control 51% or more Comm Towers)(Only Available in Fog of War maps)
All enemy units in your vision range have a 20% change of being converted into your own units.

Woah! I thought I was the only one who wanted a sniper unit!

Hmmm.... I couldn't really think of other units really. They have a rather good selection. I was really thinking more of new black hole devices...

Also, when Advance Wars 2 was new, i wanted COs to take control of "special" units, (at the time i wanted Andy to take control of a Tank that had the abilities of the APC & Normal Tank put together)

In Advance wars 4, the anti-tank is retarded, since any tank unit gets owned by it. Also, they should put some cap, because i've seen people use "mech spam"

Bleh... Yeah, the anti tank is horribly overpowered and if they bring it back (depends which story line they go from) they should really do something about it...

"mech spam"? I've done that before. Yeah only good for fun. It's really a bad idea to use it. It's really only good to be a meat wall... Of course some anti-air and rockets and volia! They're gone.

Mech spamming is the best defensive tactic in the competetive game, an anti air might take out one or two, but you can keep on building mechs and succeed due to their highly cheap price and high firepower.

Anyways, I'm not so keen on the addition of new units in each of the new games. AWDS's new units were rather uninspired and to situational, ie. pipe runner. I'd only want them to add units which were really worth adding, not those made for the sake of saying "new units" on the back of the box.

As soon as I saw Gage I was like "hmm, snipers". Maybe we'll have something like that in the next game... Which I'm so excited for even before they've announced it (I've gotten SO much mileage out of Days of Ruin. I have S Ranks on all but 3 maps, now ^^).

As far as those subpowers you mentioned, the Blitzkrieg one seems just a little broken, but then again, tanks aren't amazing.

Well, i think it would be over powered if you spawned Medium Tanks on them (average map as 2-4 factories and some large have 5+... oh dear.)

I HATE MECH SPAM. Once my friend had 20 mechs in his base, and my army was mostly rockets & various tanks.

In AWDoR the Md. Tanks aren't that great anyway. I'd rather buy a tank and an artillery, usually. Or an artillery and four infantry. I use infantry a lot, usually as my front-line guys so my tanks and artillery don't get hurt before I want to send them out into the open. Mechs are handy, but move too slow on foot (one space less than infantry adds up), so I usually only ever build them if I've already built a rig or two for transport. Or, like you said before, if I've got my back against the wall on defense. As for bikes, meh. I only use them if I really want to get to a certain far-off property really quickly and I think I have a chance to get it in the first place. Otherwise I'm fine with the good old infantry.

But I think the question of CO Powers was handled well in DoR. Besides maybe Caulder and Tabitha (who are the broken/borderline broken COs anyway), no one's was really overpowering. I liked it. Beat me with strategy, not with some flukey "Power of Money" garbage.

I also liked AWDoR's new units, much better than AWDS's. I only ask that they stop adding a new and more powerful tank every game XD DoR didn't have a new tank, thank goodness. They also balanced the tanks well, so that the lesser tanks can still win against the greater ones with a first strike and defensive terrain. Naval combat was also made a lot better in DoR. I would say keep the new units/edited units the way they are. I'd like seeing new units, but I don't think the game needs any, to be honest. I'm also not keen on having snipers that can fire farther than artillery units.

Yea, i liked how navel units can finally move through bridges. Also another problem abour DoR was that everything was too cheap, like the war tank only cost 16k, which was the price of a medium tank in 1-3. Yeah, Caulder and Tabitha are overpowered COs. But still, in AW4, i'd rather keep my CO power gauge at max and have a massive co zone then use the powers (which usually suck anyway)

by the way whats mech spam? i hardly go online myself so i wouldn't know

Spy Units? Well the Stealth Fighter of AW3 could go stealth, and the submarine could submerge.

But Mech Spam is when someone just solely makes Mechs from their factories, since Mechs have high firepower at a low cost.

I think the sub powers are a bit much.

I'd like to see individual units get special abilities representing the CO's....I don't mean like CO zones...I mean like where they actually get sprited on the battlefield as like an infantry unit or something. I'd imagine someone like Max as a super mech unit brilliant for vehicle demolition.

Of course I don't mean this as a replacement for the CO zone...just another option.

Also I'd like to see medics and engineers, cause I figure it'd provide a little extra strategical value on the battlefield.

Also the snipers should function as indirect units...they'd make excellent protection for your base.
And I suppose for a much increased cost you could equip them with armour piercing rifles effective against helicopters (snipe the pilot) and mildly useful for light armoured vehicles.

They did have medic like units on AW3 (Black Boats) but they were navel based but could heal any unit.

Snipers would be able to go stealth? Because snipers would ineffective if they coudn't go in stealth and fog of war was off. If snipers did come into Advance Wars, Gage and Grit woudn't look out of place.

I know about black boats but I mean as an infantry kinda medic. Really I wanna give more power to those infantry specialists.

If there was a land based healer, i would think it would be able to heal vehicles and infantry. Otherwise the medic would be a very unpopular choice in maps with not many factories.

Well make it a medical/engineer unit then. A mengineer!

Thats why I'm wanting more types of infantry.
