Has anyone played the Shenmue games? People like me who are still waiting, longing, craving for Shenmue III?! ^_~

I just love the Shenmue series. Mostly an adventure, but like nothing else on the market. I spent so much time in the game world, doing this and that (everything but avenging my father XD). Quick-time events, fighting engine, working for money, playing in the arcade, it is still one of the best games ever IMHO. And Shenmue II was even better. Who could forget the epic infiltration of the Yellow Head Building in Kowloon? Fighting, being chased by women with chainsaws and giant men, cage fight, the final fight on the roof. One of the best game moments ever! Actually, the whole Kowloon chapter was great, best of the whole series (though I love Hong Kong city more).

Still have Shenmue 2 XBX unfinished save, might finish it today ^_~; (Yes, already played both games on the DreamCast and I have Shenmue 2 on Xbox). Then again, seeing the ending just makes me want Shenmue III even more >.<

Dear lawd, I loved that game series...
Kept my dreamcast specifically so I could play it over and over again.
They hold a lot of memories for me too, as I always used to play on them with my dad. He played through the first one whilst I watched (and I blew all his in game cash on those capsule machines when he wasn't looking) and I played through the second one whilst he watched.
Apparently though, Shenmue III will never be made, since the guy who writes the story etc announced that he gave up or something. He also (apparently, once again) recieved quite a number of death threats. XD
Wouldn't put my money on that though.

Back to the game itself, god, It's amazing how incredibly lifelike they made the streets. Where I used to live was virtually identical to Ryo's hometown- it was so surreal.
They even had the dude on the moped! *Hearts*

Actually, Shenmue Online hasn't been released yet and is geared towards the Chinese market. And you don't play Ryo, but him and other characters like Xiang Yin and Lan Di do appear in the game.

Shenmue the Movie is actually quite cool to watch XD One of the reasons I wanted XBX Shenmue 2, though I had finished DC Shenmue 2.

How can you get stuck with Shenmue? O_o After getting the mirror, the story events just fly by your ears in the harbor >.>

There are rumours that Shenmue Online will be shown at this year's China Joy, which will be held on the 12-15 of July. It really was a beautiful game in my opinion. The gameplay and script may not have been the greatest, but it just had a certain...something.
