I've never played this series.
I hear it's huge in Japan (like Squeenix huge).

Is it any good? What would you compare it too?

I'm not surprised it got such a high score. Someone told me national production levels in Japan dropped when MHP2G came out... haha.

MHFU is Japanese crack to me. Play it all the time on the train. It might as well be cemented into my PSP.

On its most basic level, the MH series is a hack and slash type game. Think Dynasty Warriors gameplay of sorts with an assload of customization. It can be awfully repetitive, though, having to kill the same big-ass monster several times to get all the materials you need to get that weapon (several classes ingame, each with its own feel) or armor you need. D:

Kinda peeved it was dropped from the PS3.
