Basically the west is getting in on the rhythm game scene with two new, competing games that go for DJing, instead of the band setup that we've been using for a while.
DJ Hero uses a completely new gameplay system involving mixing, overlapping, and "real" DJing, and is a very different project built from the ground up, with no relation to Guitar Hero besides brand name and some optional guitar-playing crossover capabilities. It's fairly ambitious and looks interesting.
Scratch: Ultimate DJ follows the classic Bemani IIDX set up and goes the straight button pressing/matching path, with a stylish art direction and what appears to be some love and effort.
I'm pretty interested in both. DJ Hero has quite a track list and spectacular looking gameplay, but the Bemani fan in me can't help but find the somewhat admittedly archaic gameplay in Scratch damn fun.
