I finally mad it to the 2nd to last chapter (25, i think) in Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, but not without a number of expletives. :zenny: I think Dual Strike is the best of the series. Problem is, I can't find the damn thing anywhere! There were somethings in DoR that would have made DS even better. For instance:

Carriers can build Seaplanes (my new favorite unit)
New "CO on Board" system
Battleships can move and fire in the same turn
the new units (bike, anti-tank, seaplane)
more battlemap slots

I was disappointed at the small number of COs in DoR. It had only 12, while DS had a whopping 27! I'll admit DS was unbalanced, but thats what made it even better when you won with a weaker CO.

Nah I liked the awesome power of tagging and going BOOM.
But I felt battleships moving and firing was a little off, I'd rather they'd kept them the same and didn't nerf the damage.

The main problem with Dark Conflict is....well when I start a new scenario in a campaign and witness the horrible forces ahead of me. I just go "No not doing this, bye bye" and turn it off.

Yeah, the Tag Power, especially the music during it, is what made Dual Strike the best one in the series. Its the fact that whatever unit you had your CO on in DoR, had like a 100% attack and defense increase, plus a passive CO power that was active within a certain range, that I found interesting. Hate it that they balanced everything out now. Sami + Mech spawn = Big F'n Win

...This is my main problem too, except I'm still on Dual Strike. >_>
To this day I'm still on Mission 21. Maybe because I started these kinds of games with FF Tactics and Fire Emblem, where damage given doesn't affect damage taken. Those calculations still throw me off when it comes to Advance Wars and Age of Empires (the one on the ds).
Cows. :D

Worse yet Sami and Eagle....

Eagle's tag give him an extra turn allowing you to annihilate almost any base defenses.
Sami's tag would probably finish off anything left then move an infantry unit right onto the HQ for one epic win.

Whats worse is they tag and actually receive ADDITIONAL power because they are a special one.

My favourite combination however was Hachi and Kanbei. Hachi first to deploy on the frontlines at his LOW LOW PRICES! Then Kanbei muscles in an annihilate anything with the other turn. Plus thanks to Kanbei's ULTIMATE defense you can probably guarantee your forces will be alive AND deal strong damage to anything that tries and wipes out the megatanks you just built :will:

Also I used Sasha and Colin for the final battle I think....

I have Dual Strike and Days of Ruin, but I haven't played Dual Strike yet, and I suck so hard at Days of Ruin.
