I loved Brawl. Gave me so many fun memories with my friends where we taunted and raged at each other haha. I do have to admit the tripping did get annoying when it came to being the reason for your demise.

Today I learned that Pikachi's Down B Thunder can now pierce platforms. I just wish I hadn't learned that while being Pikachu, right next to a bomb and using Thunder trying to hit someone standing on the platform above me.

Yeah. Though with better hitboxes, I doubt it'd be a problem for anyone horizontally or diagonally near Pikachu, thus leaving him (her? they?) open.

It's not all of them. I can't figure out the exact rules just from the demo, but pikachu's down+B will go through the center platform on battlefield only. (Not the left or right ones.)

Maybe solid platforms wherein you can't fall through them by pressing down are unable to be pierced; but ones that can be, are?

EDIT: Still somewhat confident more characters will be announced in the final treehouse event.

Idk about more character reveals. The treehouse event actually happens after the Japanese release, due to timezones. Plus, Japanese strategy guides will likely go on sale Saturday, too--albeit a few hours later, since stores need time to actually open. Those will have the full roster in it, so... revealing a couple of characters literally hours before the entire roster will be revealed that way seems a bit silly to me. But we'll see.

Reminds me, is Kirby's Final Smash the same as the Final Smash in Brawl? If it is, that's fine with me. I mean, it make Kirby feels very unique. It's not like I have a problem with Kirby's Final Smash or anything like that.

And if anyone's interested, more new music on the website.

By the way, let's keep the hidden characters in spoilers for the time being, either until the international release or when Sakurai adds them to the website/Miiverse posts, whichever comes first.

Actually, there's something interesting about that which might change your mind. From what I've read, clone characters now have different properties that make them play more like the versions of the originating characters from previous Smash games.

Spoiler: Examples
Dark Pit plays much more like Brawl Pit than the current version.

Dr. Mario plays very similarly to how he did in Melee, and so by extension the Melee version of Mario, including the tornado move for down+B.

Ganondorf is still a Captain Falcon clone, though he's been sped up a bit and buffed to be more like he was in Melee.

Not sure of Falco yet, no one seems to play him much.

So they're less clone-like than before.

EDIT:

Spoiler: Another Veteran
Jigglypuff is back, saw it unlocked on the stream.

Spoiler:
Not entirely. The down-B of Dr. Mario is the same as in smash, which is different from Mario's current iteration with FLOOD (the most useless attack). Ganondorf is... yeah, pretty much still a clone with different stats. Dark Pit must be slightly different, if not in stats- then in the ways the moves are executed.

Well bear in mind Thane moves are customisable now, Base Ganondorf might be a clone but his custom moves might allow him to be substantially different from Falcon.

As for Ice Climbers...I heard they wouldn't work on the 3DS :sadshoe: might not make it...

They'd definitely work on the New 3DS, though, which Smash is compatible with. Mayhap as DLC when that day comes? Otherwise, they're probably DLC, or at least I'd hope that they'd make it to the WiiU, despite what was said about identical rosters. Because honestly, there's no reason not to re-include them.

Sure is if the WiiU and 3DS have cross-play compatibility online. A WiiU player's Ice Climbers wouldn't work on the 3DS's internet.

I find this pic funny.

And they could just release two DLC's- one for each game? I don't see how cross-play factors in.

Well, the full roster has been revealed:

Spoiler: Image of the Full Roster
Image

I should mention though, that empty space in the last two rows piques my curiosity. Sakurai is know for preferring symmetry in his designs, as seen in previous roster screens, and having two uneven rows like that after four full rows is odd. So is that open space for DLC characters or something else?

And as I mentioned in my last post, the clone characters do have several gameplay differences to their moveset counterparts to further set them apart.

Pierre wrote:

Sakurai never said they wouldn't work on the 3DS, only that including them was a "technical challenge". But by all means, if they can include Rosalina & Luma, the Ice Climbers shouldn't be too much of a challenge, especially now that chain grabs don't work in this game.

It was mentioned quite some time ago that there's no cross-play between the two games. You can share data with both, including custom movesets and the like, but not battles between them.

But as for the Ice Climbers, it is possible they could be DLC. Or maybe we're looking at this from the wrong angle; what if Sakurai is simply saving a few characters hidden for when the Wii U version releases? That would certainly keep some fresh surprise in the lineup. Then there could just be an update to include them in the 3DS version as well.

That's definitely a possibility. I suggested that earlier on another forum: that "both games will have the first roster" piqued my interest.

:objection:

*uses "grammatical knowledge" evidence*

This is a future tense word! Therefore, the inter-connectivity has the 3DS and WiiU versions unlock characters for one another. POINTING! *points* THAT IS MY THEORY REGARDING THIS CASE!

For anyone in the U.S., Nintendo sent out a special e-mail to anyone who achieved Platinum status on Club Nintendo last year. It contains four download codes for the 3DS version of Smash 4, one for yourself and three for you to share with friends and family. The demo is the same as the Japanese one, but it has unlimited replays.

Check your e-mail for the codes. I'm downloading mine now, takes up about 1000 blocks.

If I have any unused codes, I'll share them soon. I should mention however, they seem to be region locked, so mention what region you live in if you share yours. It's probably best to do so via PM as well, lest any CR lurkers snatch them up.

Time for the Stream to roll.

Sadly they've locked stuff to prevent it unlocking because "You have to open your own present" which is odd to say, surely they know about the Streams unlocking everything else?

I've decided to share my codes with you guys, so if you're in the U.S. I can send one to you via PM, just let me know if you want it. I'm still not sure if they're region locked, but that's usually Nintendo's way so I'm operating under that assumption.

They cheekily referenced it before they said that, saying something about not wanting to spoil it for those who want to unlock it as they play, which lead to the above line.
