The remixed tracks are great. If you're feeling nostalgic, though, the game does have something for the old-school fans; There's an item you can get late in the game called the GB Player, which when activated changes all of the music in the game into the original G/S/C music.
I love Mareep-Flaffy-Ampharous, but because thunderpunch is now a physical attack, it will be a little harder to raise. Donphan, Jynx, and Skarmory will probably be on my team (Silver>Gold).
As I usually do with the first Pokemon game I play in a set, I'll try to stick to pokemon from the generation; the ones I've planned out in my head so far include Typhlosion, Espeon and Ampharos, echoing part of my original gold team.

Based on what I know happens in the game, I'll also end up with using Ho-oh and the red gyrados...and my starter of course.

They're both good for different things...Bulbapedia is good for having articles about most everything(that and stealing its pictures
)Serebii is good for Pokemon in general and it updates almost every day...
Although some things still need a little updating there....

IT LOOKS INSANELY AWESOME. THE MUSIC IS AWESOMER....
Ah yes, most of the music is absolutely awesome. I haven't listened to all of the tracks yet, but the Johto Gym Battle is my favorite remix so far. It's PERFECT!! The only track I'm a little disappointed in so far is the Johto Trainer Battle theme. The first minute seems a little too busy and off-key to me. It picks up a little after the first minute though. I dunno, maybe it'll sound different when it's played on the DS.
I'm so pumped for this remake, Pokemon Gold was one of my favorite games when I was a teen. I'd like to replicate my old team (Feraligatr, Ampharos, Scizor, Espeon, Entei, Ho-oh, and others I had on the side.) YES!!

If Serebii's transcription of the Johto Dex is accurate, it doesn't seem Gliscor is included. that means the razor fang needed to evolve it isn't available until some point in Kanto, or possibly as a prize in the Battle Frontier. Alternatively, you could just trade over a razor fang from D/P/Pt and use it that way. What I wonder is if there's a way to get the new Eeveelutions in the game, as those were location-specific.
I've always felt it was a bit cheap to have legendaries on a main team - not that there's a problem with using them, as that's what they were made for, but I find it more fun to mold more common pokemon that don't already have insanely high stats into awesome team combinations.

Well it would be pretty hard to evolve the Eevees in future genreations if we could only get those two from the D/P/P generation.
There is a forest and an ice location in Johto so you might be able to evolve them there.

In diamond, I had all the eeveelutions. Even if it was a pain in the gant to breed them all and evolve them...
And like I said, I was too tired to remember the pokemon. There are just too darn many now, I remember back when I was five and I could memorize them all because there were only one hundred fifty of them.

. I don't know what happened to my old Gold version, but the internal battery of my Crystal cartridge died, so no save for me...I REALLY like the new remixed music, especially the Rival battle. Although, it's a like strange that you get the GB Player after you get all 16 badges, so you can really use it to it full effectiveness.

I don't really mind Gligar being pink, it's also pink in the anime and techinically it looked sorta pinkish in the original Gold/Silver versions....
Misty is fine, Sabrina is the one who looks completely different....
