I refuse to bring skill inheritance and stat inheritance into the equation when choosing who marries whom. I know you think highly of Donnel and Cordelia as a couple, but it's not happening in my Let's Play.

As for editing magic, that's almost certainly going to see some use no matter what I do. As I said, I fully expect to screw up even if I practice beforehand.

As for co-commentators, I don't have any offline friends who are into Fire Emblem, so if I want a co-commentator who actually likes the game, I have to search online. I've taken the necessary precautions, and it's not as if I'm going to work with just anybody.

Sure if you like that's fair, but in my defence....Donnel and Cordelia is actually a really sweet relationship, I didn't do that one for skill inheritance at all. Besides whoever Donnel marries is bound to have a good kid because Aptitude and Donnel in general are quite awesome to pass on.

....In a way it's a thing I hate about Awakening...how it's made me think about relationships in it XD. I remember back when relationships were limited, and every relationship was written to be somewhat believable rather than just 'marry whoever' for kids.

As for co-commentary I'd volunteer but I reckon I have a horrible timescale for you. It's just the horrible itch when someone you know is doing online youtube stuff and you have the opportunity for your 15 minutes of fame. Got the same urges when I found out my friend and my girlfriend were both considering doing streaming at some point.

In preparation for my LP of Awakening, I recently decided to test something. It's somewhat well-known that in the North American version, Owain and Lucina cannot marry on account of being first cousins. Sure, the S-rank conversation's still there, but rather than be classified as husband and wife, they are "companions." In addition, the S-Level conversation was changed so that it wouldn't show any signs of them falling in love. It occurred to me, however, that since Cynthia and Kjelle technically only have the potential to be Owain's cousins, maybe NOA didn't account for that. So I decided to build up the supports between Owain and a Chrom-fathered Cynthia to find out. It wouldn't be the first time the game overlooked certain variables (such as a married Cordelia still getting flustered in Chrom's presence if they meet in the barracks), after all, so I figured the designers didn't account for the possibility of Cynthia marrying her cousin.

I was wrong. Upon reaching S-Level, Owain and Cynthia became "companions." The support conversation's unchanged, however, so it still pretty much screams "love." So, in a sense, NOA both did and did not address the matter of Owain being in love with his cousin. This leads me to believe that Owain and Kjelle would also be listed as companions despite Owain actually saying outright that he loves her in the S-Level conversation. Likewise, I suspect Owain and an Emmeryn-mothered Morgan would also be listed as companions, despite both of them quite clearly saying they love each other in the S-Level conversation. Kudos to NOA for actually making Owain technically unable to marry Kjelle, Cynthia, and Morgan if they turn out to be his cousins, though those of us who ship them still get the last laugh, as the support conversations were left unchanged. Then again, I suppose that's to be expected; if they can't have alternate supports for a married Cordelia, it figures that they also can't have alternate supports for potential cousin couples.

Do they also have that barrier in the European version? Cousin marriage is legal in the UK, after all.

There does seem to be some form of glitch regarding Morgan, though. In one of my playthroughs I had Chrom marry Olivia, Avatar marry Inigo, and then Morgan married Lucina. I don't recall the exact details, but I know one of the aunt-nephew couple was always listed as "companion" but the other was only "companion" part of the time and husband or wife the rest of the time. Don't remember which was which, but I know one of them kept changing.

I recall reading about almost the exact same thing, only with a male Avatar marrying Lucina and their daughter marrying a Chrom-fathered Inigo. I don't recall what the person who mentioned it said about whether or not the game listed them as husband and wife.

If you don't mind throwing down a little money the DLC map EXPonential Growth is the place to be.

Little bit into the story you'll unlock a place called the Outrealm Gate, you go there and they'll hook you up with the DLC.

I bought almost all the DLC's, the only ones I am missing is the Anna-packs, I think.
They cost 300 norwegian crowns i think, which is 50 $, 30 £, 40 €.
I have played most of them, the Scramble one is the best by far.
It has hilarious dialogue. Also, you get introduced to two new characters, Bikini-Anna and Yukata-Anna, who are funny. (They do not join you, you just meet them)
Also, fanservice. The Chrom one made the room I was in full of nosebleed. Lucina had a nice one too. Owain's was sexy as always, in his yukata.

I also liked the Lost Bloodlines pack, it entertained me very much.
Welcome.... to the velvet room...

Donnel starts off with horrible stats, but thanks to his Aptitude skill, he's got some of the best growth rates in the game, if not the best. Given enough time (and assuming the random number generator isn't a jerk), he can easily become one of the most powerful characters in the game. It's not the end of the world if you fail to recruit him, but it is unfortunate.

It depends on what skills you want to get for your character. I usually use a Second Seal to reclass my character to Mercenary, gaining him access to the Armsthrift skill (though that means he'll lose access to tomes for the time being). As for Chrom, I recommend using the Master Seal on him.

I was thinking the same thing about Aptitude honestly. All it really does is save you some grinding time.

Armsthrift can be nice with rare weapons you've spent money forging. Cecila's Gate for one.

Yeah but Armsthrift can be countered with more money, which is plentiful.

Also Aptitude saves so much in grinding time it makes Donnel and his child disproportionately stronger than the other characters. Also since levelling is somewhat random and levels get progressively ridiculously slow to the point of impracticality it's definitely worth it.

Pfft pretty much everything can be bought in shops or from merchants. In any case streetpass is so common these days for Fire Emblem you can buy OTHER people's unique items and treasures. Then forge them up as you see fit. You are never at a loss for exceptional weapons in Awakening.

Geez the EXP dlc are at level 10s 20s and 30s.... with a buttload of Luck. As for the Gold.... I have to kill them to get the Gold. But most are Axe users and well some of the characters I got arent strong to kill most of them.

Take the EXP, the monsters are easy and don't fight back.

Just be careful because the highest level ones have "Counter" which deals your damage back to you IF you are beside them. So you need ranged attacks to kill them.

The EXP map is a serious waste of time, by the time you get strong enough to kill most of the monsters before they run off, you don't really need it.

Here's what you do:

Pick an easy starting area
Use a Reeking Box there
Pick two characters for the map and pair them up (preferably one with a ranged weapon in case there's archer or mage zombies)
Turn off all battle animations
End turn
End turn
End turn
etc. until the enemies are all dead

As your characters get stronger, pick slightly harder maps
Build up tons of support points, EXP, and gold all at the same time with almost no effort

If you want DLC, here's the ones that actually matter:

Lost Bloodlines 3 - gives Paragon skill which doubles EXP rate
Rogues and Redeemers 3 - gives Limit Breaker skill which lets you raise character stats an extra 10 points each
Champions of Yore 3 - gives All Stats +2 skill which...uh...gives all your stats +2...
Lost Bloodlines 2 - gives Dread Scroll item which changes males to Dread Fighter class
Smash Brethren 2 - gives Wedding Bouquet item which changes females to Bride class

Get just those if you're on a budget

Scramble and Future Past packs are nice for the story, not sure on Challenge pack, but none of them give you rewards worth mentioning
Apotheosis is the game's ultimate challenge optional boss, again no rewards though

Also the important thing about Donnel isn't that he can pass down Aptitude (though he might as well since he doesn't have any other important exclusive skills), it's that he, Gaius, and male Robin are the only fathers that can give the Pegasus Knight class to daughters that wouldn't otherwise get it which means more Galeforce users

Pfft pretty much everything can be bought in shops or from merchants. In any case streetpass is so common these days for Fire Emblem you can buy OTHER people's unique items and treasures. Then forge them up as you see fit. You are never at a loss for exceptional weapons in Awakening.

I thought the main point of Armsthrift was for Nosfertanking?
