With the exception of Shonen Heart, I really don't like any of hte Ouendan 2 songs.

Everyone says that, but I don't see what people like about that song. Maybe it's the cover, but it's just not my genre.

I liked the Ouendan 1 soundtrack more, it was more rock-driven. The only songs I didn't like in it were Guts da Ze, Neraiuchi, Kokoru Odoru, and Koi no Dance Site. Everything else was either okay (Linda Linda, Melody) or awesome (Atsuki Kodou no Hate, Taiyo Ga Moeteiru, Ready Steady Go).

EBA was a mixed bag. On the one hand you've got David Bowie, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Deep Purple, and Chicago. On the other you've got Good Charlotte, Avril Lavigne, CHER, Destiny's Child, Ashley Simpson, the Village People... etc. Disappointing, really.

Ouendan 2 gives the old squad most of the rock and the blue squad most of the pop, so I generally just stay on the red side. Bambina, Zoku, Glamorous Sky, Zenryoku Shonen, and Okuru Kotoba are some of my favorites, the first three in particular. The only song I really like on the blue side is Samurai Blue, maybe Vista, and frankly they stick out of the blue squad song list because most of the squad's music is pop. I can't stand Shonen Heart, Bang! Bang! Vacances, Pop Star, Monkey Magic, or Kibun Jojo.

Both the final songs are awesome though. :O

EDIT: Also, in during 100th post.

Yeah, I heard the Shonen Heart cover just now, and it's AWFUL. /shudder

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I579rH4Hdek Here's the original. much, MUCH better.

I... didn't really like any of the songs in Ouendan 1, mainly because I can't stand J-Pop 95% of the time. I liked Over the Distance, I guess (though the shrill voice in the chorus... yeah, no.) and the one with the homeroom teacher trying to get his students to like him. Other than that, I disliked pretty much the entire track list (and REALLY didn't like Ready Steady Go... but perhaps it was the bad quality of the DS music, but it just grates on my ears).

While there are songs on EBA I'd never listen to on my own outside of the game (La La, Survivor, The Anthem, etc)... I think the covers are better, and I enjoy them in the context of the game. I don't pay attention to the lyrics, I'm helping the adorable and sassy Cap White fight off an invasion of viruses, or I'm helping Hulk Bryman and his little friend kick a fire-breathing golem's ass. And they're fun levels to play.

Plus, the WAF -> "Agents!!!" -> JJF scenario was just AWESOME.

You lucky son-of-a-bitch.

Well, I was lucky enough to get Bleach DS AND Ouendan 1 for only 40 dollars(As in, 20 bucks each). I ended up getting them for free, as I payed them off in a fierce tennis bet.

I'm wondering if it's a cultural thing or not but the Ouendan guys' end games are natural disasters (Earth goes on the defense) and the EBA fight off an invasion (Earth goes offensive). Is that a statement on the whole US v. Japan culture or am I reading way too much in it?

My definitive awesome EBA 2 lineup:

Smash Mouth - All Star
Queen - Don't Stop Me Now
Beatles - Back In The USSR
Billy Joel - We Didn't Start The Fire
Michael Jackson - Thriller (or Beat It)
A-Ha - Take On Me
Survivor - Eye of the Tiger
Bee Gees - Stayin' Alive
Foo Fighters - Monkey Wrench
Village People - Macho Man
Ricky Martin - Livin' La Vida Loca
Flogging Molly - Within A Mile of Home
Bonnie Tyler - Holding Out For A Hero (the second to last stage, of course)
Beastie Boys - Intergalactic
Lipps Inc - Funkytown
David Bowie - Magic Dance
Cyndi Lauper - Time After Time (for the sad/serious song)

Tier 1

All Star - I dunno... a Battle of the Bands or something?

Tier 2

We Didn't Start The Fire
- Got nothin'.

Back In the USSR (maybe Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band would be a better song) - Nothing.

Tier 3

Take On Me - Guy gets sucked into a comic book OH NOES

Intergalactic - Space Explorer has to escape from hungry aliens!

Tier 4

Funkytown - Nothing

Magic Dance
- Nothing

Within A Mile Of Home - Nope :/

Tier 5

Beat It/Thriller

Macho Man - Some guy trying to win a bodybuilding contest? Nah, that sucks. Yeah, got nothing.

Monkey Wrench

Tier 6

Time After Time - Really, I don't know what you could do with this one that they didn't do in Ouendan or EBA. :/

Tier 7

Stayin' Alive

Eye Of The Tiger - I guess a boxer is too cliche? :P An employee is told by his boss that if he's late one more time... he's FIRED. But the next day... his car doesn't start! He has to get to the office on time, but how? Wacky Hijinx ensue.

The Final Tier

The last "story" is three songs:

Livin' La Vida Loca

Holding Out For A Hero

and finally

Don't Stop Me Now

No idea for the scenario, though.

Suggestions for Funk's list-

Thriller-Halloween episode

Blink 182: All the Small Things-I dunno. It just really fits into EBA.

Franz Ferdinand: Take Me Out-Dunno.

Journey: Don't Stop Believin'-For your serious one or your Believe type thing.

And Beatles songs are notoriously difficult to license.

For EBA 2,
first of all, Beastie Boys - Intergalactic should be there, but for the next to last level which would be the revenge of the Rhombulans. For the sad stage, I'd say Tears in Heaven, and I think that since there's a second Ouendan, there should be a second group of agents, only they're the Evil Beat Agents.

For example, say they pull an Ouendan and bring the first stage character from EBA1 back for EBA2, Jane in this case. The premise could be that Don's a pro football player now, and the oil billionaire's ex-wife is trying to steal him from Jane. the Elite Beat Agents can be helping Jane, but the Evil Beat Agents would help the ex-wife.

And for hidden mode, it could make the stages so you play as the Evil Beat Agents.

I think that both teams should be helping people, just 'cause that's how cheering works. I mean, for some games it'd be fun to play as a complete asshole, but I dunno about EBA.

EBA 2 should keep Hidden Mode, but ditch the extra points. In fact, Inis should just ditch the retarded score system completely and use a percent-based scoring system. Yeah, that'd mean get rid of spinners, or at least the bonus points. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening.

Idea for a "serious" scenario. Song: "You'll Be In My Heart" by Phil Collins

Set 20 years after the events of EBA 1 (hey, if they can go back to 15th century italy...)

Lucy, the girl from You're The Inspiration, is about to get married. (Maybe to the boy from September? I dunno)

This time, the song is from her father's point of view. He's been watching over her from heaven this entire time, and begs to be let down to Earth just for this one day to be at his little girl's wedding. His request is granted, and her dad goes down to make sure everything's just perfect.

Maybe it's raining, but so Lucy won't get wet and ruin her dress, her dad somehow... makes it stop for a while. I dunno. MORE SCENARIO IDEAS

At the very end, Lucy is about to walk down the aisle alone when her father finally appears to her--only she and her mom (maybe the fiance) can see him--and walks beside her to give her away.

Maybe the groom can't find his cufflinks, and mysteriously discovers a pair that belonged to Lucy's dad. Or it's raining, but so Lucy won't get wet and ruin her dress, her dad somehow... makes it stop for a while. I dunno.

Give the boy's mother a big enough fan that she can make the rain stop herself. :)

After trying to just pass that song about 50 times over the last 2 days, it means alot. Good work, that song is harder than most of Ouendan 2's hard mode.

Also, are they kidding with this hard mode? Walkie Talkie Man was so slow. Zenryoku Shounen was much faster paced on hard.

Went to a Weird Al concert tonight, and got inspired for a level.

Smells Like Teen Spirit. I don't care what the level's about, but it should be in an Ouendan game, so the cheer girls can act high during it.

And maybe for the final one KISS 'Rock and Roll all Nite' perhaps?

And I KNOW I'm going to regret this but, CFTF...exactly WHO in EBA are you writing a romance fic OF?
