Do you even need to ask? It's like, the best 3DS game Nintendo's given us!
Yeah next to Monster Hunter 3U.
Fire Emblem Awakening was the source of all the jokes about FORGING FRIENDSHIPS IN THE FIRES OF BATTLE.
Cause you can literally marry your units (each of which has a unique story and bond) and have kids with a good few of them. So yeah it's basically shipping but with cool stuff.
In a way I'm disgusted at myself how I bashed the concept of Agarest yet loved it's basic implementation in Fire Emblem.

Well Awakening is a good game for newcomers to the Fire Emblem franchise.
It's very forgiving and not as restrictive or as advanced as some fire emblem systems plus it has the option to turn permadeath on your characters off to make it more welcoming.
Though no 3DS?

Ah I assumed no 3DS was the reason you couldn't get one sometime soon.
XD An you musta got it on the ambassador program like I did. I had it on the GBA originally and loved it so so much was so happy it was one of the ambassador games.

Fire Emblem Awakening is way better than Sacred Stones. Not that Sacred Stones was bad or anything, but Awakening is a true sequel. The strong (and fun) points have been enhanced and the weak points are mostly eliminated.
One tip if you're bad at the game and gonna start Awakening: Play on Normal with permadeath ON. Without it no strategy is involved and you'll get lazy with your tactical decisions.
Don't play on hard (or lunatic for that matter) unless you're really REALLY looking for a challenge. I consider myself a pretty experienced Fire Emblem player and hard mode (with perm death offcourse) is kicking my arse. Big time.

Lunatic's a bitch since the beginning relies a lot on luck. It took a good 2-3 hours to get past chapter 4 using Youtube guides. I'd do the exact same thing people did with their Frederick only to find mine on the receiving end of random critical hits.

But while on the subject of FE games, random question: is the critical strike chance the direct critical strike chance, or the critical strike chance given the attack hits? (For example... with 50% accuracy and 2% crit chance, is the "true" probability of a critical strike 1% or 2%?)

So I think you could have like 100% crit chance and 0% hit (would never happen) and you'd hit with a critical.

I have never ever seen a critical miss.
I've seen them do no damage, but never miss.

I have never ever seen a critical miss.
I've seen them do no damage, but never miss.
I Google'd and you're right. I just thought it'd be way funnier that the idea of going through a whole flashy animation would lead to a complete miss.

Judging by the formulas I've found, you're right, though you're also right in saying a 100% crit and 0% hit is unlikely, if not impossible. In the games released outside of Japan, Skill is the main factor in both of them, though crit uses Skill ÷ 2, while hit uses Skill × 2 + either Luck or Luck ÷ 2. Of course, enemy stats also have to be taken into account when combat begins, and while the ability to dodge a conventional attack uses Luck and Attack Speed, the ability to prevent critical hits doesn't use Attack Speed. Because of this, if the attacker has high Skill and bad Luck, while the defender has high Speed and bad Luck, we will probably see a low Hit and a high Crit. Whether or not the Crit only holds true for attacks that hit is something that would probably have to be tested.

At first when I saw it I thought they went the style of Final Fantasy Chibi style feet, but no... Everything after their ankles are just cut off.

They started the models with the thought that they would be on a regular DS, they wouldn't have had the resources for full models.
Then it got booted to 3DS and they were like "Damn....no one has feet" when they realised the models would be shown in full.

I don't like how they kept the stepladder joke in Apollo Justice, just made Apollo and Trucy look more like a poor man's Phoenix and Maya, but I can't really say that since I played AJ first and I really like AJ.
