The sacrificial pillar hallway in FF3 it's flesh colored walls and the bodies of the sacred carpenters sticking out of them always freaked me out.

A lot of the areas in Beyond Good and Evil where you have to sneak past guards especially in the later ones where you have to worry about guards and robots I haven't even got past the last stage yet.

The Mine Area in Forbidden Siren you start off in a tunnel and as soon as you come out you have to deal with a sniper if you are not fast enough he will kill you in one hit. Later on you play as a another character starting out with the only weapon located in a storage shed good luck sneaking past enemies.

I didn't like the Giza Plains the second time you visit it during the game's main storyline in Final Fantasy 12.
The enemies were a pain in the ass to kill.

And like most of you guys said, all underwater levels.

I liked Twilight Zone, it was relaxing.

Hmm... TP had beautiful areas (more beautiful than the other games), but most of them were incredibly boring.

Oh, I think I'm mixing up the locations.

I meant the Twilight Zone where you go near the end of the game.

Oh yeah, I hate levels that take place in a dark room and you have to use something to light your way through to see where you're going.

Examples would be like in Legend of Zelda: TP where you had to use the lantern to see where you were going.

Or the Lost World level in Sonic Adventure where you use the mirrors in that one dark room.

I'm sure there's more examples but those are the only two I can think of at the moment.
Horror Survival games don't count because you know there's some weird shit lurking in the dark.

I do hate in RPGs when you have exceedingly long dungeons and no save points, or save points are very far and few. Especially when you get close to one, only to die by a random encounter, only to start the whole dungeon over.

Timed missions full of random battles you have to fight and you end up running out of time because there are too many random battles, making you have to start all over again from a place 30 minutes away because you forgot to save before the timed mission started.

Besides those levels with far and few save points (one of my worst enemies) there's only one kind of thing that trips me up. Any kind of dungeon or cave that mixes itself up. It's kinda hard to explain; I guess it's like where a cavern or one part of a dungeon repeats itself and you have to choose the right way to go otherwise the next direction repeats itself, etc. If any of you have played Pokemon: Diamond or Pearl, think Wayward Cave or the cave at Sendoff Spring. MY WORST NIGHTMARE!

Anywhere in Zelda with a Floormaster. Anywhere. I have witnesses that will vouch that I might cry if I hear the Floormaster ZOMG WOOSH noise.

Also, I'm afraid of programming bugs >_> Which is horrible as I really really love beta stuff and gamesharks. So screwing around with the game or falling through a floor ANYWHERE will freak me out. I did that late at night once and I fell through the ground at Lon Lon Ranch; I screamed. <_<

But an actual area, towards the end of Psychonauts, which I totally need to find and play again, I believe my copy wasn't fully correct - The whole bit where you have to scale the circus equipment and whatnot? Yeah, the only ability I had that worked was the thought balloon. The only thing. This wouldn't have bugged me, however I was watching Cheat a few days later(yeah, Cheat, it's been a long time since I've played Psychonauts), and they were able to use aaaallllllll the psychic powers. I nearly went homicidal >_> But hey. I did it with no powers, bizatch.

I suppose a bit of Nintendo's laziness lies in there. The dungeon was fun, but a bit repetitive.

Twilight Realm in Zelda: TP.

When you've to collect the "Tears of Light", and you have to use the sense (spoiler?) and that stuff... Geez...
~
Jungle and underwater levels in Sonic.

I don't like the jungle levels mostly because of the water. We've to jump in those wood platforms.
And in underwater because we've to catch the damn bubbles. I died so much when
I was playing Sonic for Master System.
~
Caves in any Pokémon.

They're HORRIBLE. There're so much monsters. And when you walk, you've to battle more then 2 per minute (yes?). That's why
I always avoid caves.

Ice Temple in Zelda: Twilight Princess.

I was stuck for hours there. I hate that dungeon.

Deserts are a bore unless it is some sort of post-apocolyptic madmax like game, then deserts are bad when not near a town.

Underwater levels blow, flying levels when the game is not a flying one is generally blow worthy and hrm hmm... dream sequences are a pain too, OMG FLASH BACK WOW! too.

Sneaky sneak when the game is not a sneak game, like the 'AVOID THE ASS RAPAGE' in Indigeo Prophercey, or the damn underground cavern system in Dreamfall, I hate when you have to avoid stuff generally and not just kick it's arse.

Oh, it has seen you, you DIIIIEEE! back to the start, try again, fail due to sneezing, try again, turn off consol, throw it out of the window, look at porn in grief, die yourself.

That is about it.

For me, any area with large obstacles and thin pathways. Like....... the graveyard in SMT: Devil Survivor and this one escort mission in Valkyrie Profile: Covenent of the Plume. There's pretty much no room to walk anywhere and, being a strategy RPG, only one person can stand on one square at a time. In both cases, a certain character can't die, and the positioning of the other characters because of the layout makes it almost impossible.

That, and I agree with everyone about the caves. Especially the Pokemon ones.
