I got an S on JJF on Sweatin' on a bus ride. It's not hard once you get used to it.

Yeah, playing in a car is impossible. In a plane is hard, but doable, unless you're like me and trying to full combo Readfy Steady Go on hard.

And since the other post opened the door for Ouendan, I was playing Ouendan 2 today, and in the pop star level, I'm surprised they used a generic horse instead of bringing back Billydon (From Guts Da Ze.)

What I want to see in the second EBA game is not a one-part, or two-part...but a THREE-part finale. The first part sets up the scenario. In the second part, all hell breaks loose (figuratively speaking). In the third part, the Agents and their competitors rise up again, overcome all odds, and save the world together.

I was thinking of something like this:

First song: I Am All Of Me - Crush 40
Second song: Given Up - Linkin Park
Last song: Open Your Heart - Crush 40

The stages would go a little something like this:

First stage: A mad scientist creates a giant drill that will burrow through the earth and cause the biggest earthquake in history. The force of the shockwave will be so big that it will level the world planet. With no form of law to maintain stability, he will rise up and create a new world. But, not if the Agents have anything to say about it. Everyone from the previous stages comes together with other NPCs to stop the mad doctor from acheiving his goal.

Second stage: The doctor has been stopped but the rumbling continues. It turns out that the giant drill machine has malfunctioned and is burrowing towards the center of the earth faster than ever. With no time to spare the Agents and their competitors take up the fight and lead the world in a power dance to stop the giant machine. Things go wrong, however, when both teams end up buried under a giant collapsing skyscraper.

Final: With the Agents buried alive, hope begins to fleet. But in the darkest hour a small spot of light appears; in form of the mad scientist. Realizing his mistake and coming to an epiphany, he begins chanting "E-B-A" to which the person from the "sad song" mission joins in (actually, both would begin to chant at the same time but w/e). This sets off a chain reaction of chants and soon the Agents rise from the dead once again in one final effort to stop the machine from reaching its target.

I wouldn't like them to do the "E-B-A!" chant again. The last two stages' cutscenes were some of the most powerful moments in any videogame for me, and I don't want it to be overused.

They already reused almost the whole scenario (See Ouendan 2) :godot:

Question ... am I the only person who really thinks this is a not-so-much-rhythm rhythm game? The tapping jumps from beat to offbeat and suddenly plays along the singer, then various instruments, that you can't really guess even if you know the piece.

I'm playing this on Breezin' and my worst song took five attempts to pass well so far, but ... I don't know, I've played IIDX-like rhythm games before, but I suppose that isn't really doable on a console like the DS. I still don't like EBA a lot, though. :( Help?

The background dancing is absolute ace though. So catchy.

Trust me, Breezin' is only a fraction of how enjoyable the game is. You're right the beat timing sucks but later when you get more beats, you'll be tapping them because you'd already know the song from Breezin'. And if you're worried that the other modes may be too hard, so did I but with little practise (very little) it gets a lot easier. =D

I think I'm on Breezin' at least..it's like, the middle mode. Not easy, but normal or something.

That's Chillin'. ^^;; I find that mode a lot of fun. I'm stuck on the Four Star songs (September, Y.M.C.A.) on Sweatin' right now. >.>

Oh and the song Underdog should definitely be in EBA2. =D

It's Cruisin'. Not Chillin'.

And, yeah, some of the latter difficulties, especially Sweatin', have you tapping multiple beats immediately after one another. The most notorious ones I can think of are the HUGE clusters that appear during the third section of Jumpin' Jack Flash. They zig zag all over the place and they fuck with your eyes. They're only 11 beats long but they're the most savage 11 beats in the game. Also, towards the finale you'll be tapping 15 beats in a row TWICE; all in rapid succession.

If you can S Rank that song, you'll be well prepared to tackle Hard ROCK!

Yeah, I saw that last night too XD Cruisin'.

I haven't even tried Breezin', but I finished Cruisin' last night (very intense video moment :() and - enjoyed the game! It's like out of NOWHERE.. it took me the first 10 songs to actually start liking the game. The patterns suddenly made sense. They were FUN. Jumpin' Jack Flash was AMAZING. Sorry if it's (probably) been said, but what else is there in the game after Sweatin'? Unlockables? What's with the ranks, etc? :D

-There are a total of 12 Ranks in the game
-There are 3 unlockable songs: Cher's "Believe" at Rank 4, Jackson 5's, "ABC" at Rank 6, and Destiny Child's "Survivor" at Rank 9
-After you complete Sweatin', the Hard ROCK! difficulty is available. It's basically Sweatin' with some key differences...
    1) Every song is just a flipped version of its Sweatin' counterpart. EVERY marker is flipped. EVERY marker. No exceptions.
    2) The interval when markers appear is much shorter than Sweatin'
    3) All of the markers are smaller
    4) You can use the Divas
-After you complete Hard ROCK!, you have the option to play it as Commander Kahn. For reasons unknown, he's merely a skin for Agent Starr. Exact same moves and everything.
-When you complete Hard ROCK!, there will be a "The End" screen after the credits
-When you reach Rank 12, "Lovin' Machine", you'll unlock an extra congratulatory screen that you can view in the Gallery

That's all, I think.

Got my hands on EBA this christmas. Wow. I really hate the life system it has. I mean, in DDR, you can get D-AA in the songs. In EBA, you can't get D on normal and C on sweatin' before you have already failed to keep the bar. That life goes down so fast, that I can barely only get through the first part of the two alien stages on swatin', even though I'm not making any mistakes. WTF, how am I suppoed so be able to complete this?! XD Any help would be really great to have. It seems like in order to make through I have to get all-300 or something. Which I CAN'T do XD

I've also noticed that the sweatin' isn't any harder than the normal, except for the fact that if you miss two marks in a row in one of the later you automatically lose. GAWD, I hate that bar :larry:

The only help I can give you is to say, "practice, practice, practice". If you still can't catch on to the beat, watch some YouToube videos. Don't worry. It took me nearly twenty combined tries from "Without A Fight" and "Jumpin' Jack Flash" before I could beat Breezin'.

It takes practice. All you really can do is take things one step at a time. A few pointers, though:

-Allow yourself to get pumped up for the song. The more in-rhythm you are with the song, the less likely you are to screw up.
-Don't rush through the game. If you're not feeling confident, take some time to practice on the lower difficulties before moving on.
-Keep a firm grip on the stylus and make sure you firmly tap the touchscreen. Don't jam it into the DS and don't hold it in one place for too long after tapping a beat.
-The quicker your reaction time, the better your chances of survival.

Also, you think EBA is hard? Play some Ouendan 2 and then tell me that. The game does not want me to have all S Ranks. DX

P.S. BTW, All 300s are not easy to complete. Veteran gamers have acknowledged that while S Ranks are easy to get, All 300s are not.

I actually found Ouendan 2 easier than EBA. Perhaps its because I find the music from OTO2 more enjoyable.

One more thing: Don't rely exclusively on the timer circles. They're faster on some songs and slower on other. If you're looking for help from them, expect to screw up badly.

Instead, you should listen for the beat and tap along to that.

I know it's been said like one million times already, so let this be time one million and one.

I wish Nintendo and Inis would get off of their duffs and grace us DS owners with a second EBA game ASAP.

Sure there is the first and second Ouanden games but like that famous Billy Idol song, with a Rebel yell I cry more more more!

(Coincidently some Billy Idol would work rather well in the sequel. IMHO)

There's an S rank? Gee, and here I thought that one lone A I managed to get was the highest possible. :sadshoe:

Why can't I get anything else but B rank... I mean, for the songs that goes especially well (I had one with no misses and no 50-points), I get a B. And for those where I barely survive and get one or two lost sections I STILL get a B rating. So frustrating. How are the ratings even DONE anyway?

I mean, come on!

Canned Heat, Cruisin':

Score: 0531650 (Hi Score)
300: 122
100: 035
050: 002
000: 000
MaxCombo: 257 (PERFECT)
Elite beat : 013
Beat: 14
Chapters complete: All three

Rank: B :larry:

How on earth am I supposed to be able to get an S rank?! XD

edit: This one's even better!

Walkie Talkie Man: Breezin':

Score: 0050280 (Hi Score)
300: 052
100: 016
050: 000
000: 000
MaxCombo: 068 (PERFECT)
Elite beat : 013
Beat: 15
Chapters complete: All three

Rank: B :yogi:

WTF? I have 16 non-300s, and yet I don't even get an A, let alone a S?!

There's a formula for getting S Ranks.

At least 90% 300s
No more than 10% 100s
No more than 1% 50s

Take Walkie Talkie Man for example. It has 68 markers total. That means you can have at least 61 300s, 7 100s, and no more than a single 50. You can think of ranks as a measure of your skill. The higher your rank, the more adept at the song you are. As expected, S Ranks are reserved exclusively for those who have mastered a particular.

Basically, the more 300s you score the better. Don't worry. My first rank on Walkie Talkie Man was a B Rank and I missed like three or four beats.

yeah, okay, but why didn't I get an A then? XD

It just seems to me that the requirements are unreasonably high. I mean, it is possible to get AA in DDR with several missed ticks. Of course I can't get 90% 300 on everything, I only mannaged to get that because it was an easy level, and even that took several tries. I actually think it's HARDER on the lowest difficulty simply because the beat isn't there and you have to mostly rely on the rings. Besides, if I just follow the beat, I usually get quite a few 50s along with a few missed ticks because the voice, which it usually follows, goes off the beat slightly, which means it isn't really possible to get so many 300s.... And why are you able to talk about getting S on everything?! XD

The two songs I got A on are Youre My Inspiration on Cruisin', and UMCA on sweatin'.... eveything else, except one or two songs, are Bs. I mean, XD

It generally isn't as fun as everyone hyped it up to be, really.

Sorry. All I know is the S Rank formula. I don't know what it takes to get an A Rank (maybe more Beats than Elite Beats, I don't know).

And, don't fret over Canned Heat. It's considered one the more difficult songs in the game.

Yeah, so I tried a little to keep the beat, and suddenly it wasn't that terribly hard to get through sweatin'. I even managed to get an A in the first of the two. Heh, I guess that it wouldn't be possible to get through that one with a B.

So yeah, thanks for the help :edgy:

yeah, Canned Heat is pretty heaty, I was simply pointing at the fact that it seems extremely hard to break into A. Especially since quite a few of the As I have, I got one missed :payne:

So yeah, I just need to try a bit more throughoutly.

edit: wow, did I just start every part of the post with 'yeah', 'so, yeah', 'yeah', 'so yeah'....? Ehm...

IMO, EBA > OTO2 because while I understand no Japanese is required to play this game it doesn't leave the same impact that it would have on me if it were my native language.

So for now, Elite Beat Agents is my favorite of the three.

EBA has a better story overall. OTO2 is more or less a Japanese rehash of the EBA's story. But music wise, OTO2 songs were more catchy. I sometimes like not knowing the words...

My main beef with OTO 2 is that a lot of the songs have beats which feel forced ("Go My Way" comes to mind), like they're only trying to sync to the lyrics and not maintain a constant steady beat. Some of them are fun to hear but they all seem rather tacked on than seamless. It also likes to mess me up at random intervals.

Also, SSAY doesn't feel as in-your-face as Jumpin' Jack Flash.

I played EBA many times in the car with no problems it just a matter of getting used to the car's movements and stops then again I probably play this game way too much. :phoenix:

I beat all four modes a long time ago and I currently working on going up in the ranks right now I am a Five-star Commander I think there are two ranks to go before you get to the last one.

I recently discovered VS Ghost in Multiplayer Mode and it is the next challenge that I have been looking for ever since I beat Hard Rock Mode. In VS Ghost you go up against your saved replayed data I have yet to beat my S Rank Hard Rock Mode September replay data I have tied like five times with it and have never manged to passed all stages without an X.

The fun and frustrating part is that there is a four star meter when they light up the screen shakes and the markers get smaller then in Hard Rock Mode! If you get all 300's and the stars light up the next markers shrink even further! :beef:

It's too bad that you can't play this game over the internet with friends maybe they will put that feature in the next one.

EDIT:

Wow I manage to beat my S Rank Hard Rock Mode replay data! With a Perfect no less! :acro:

How would you manage to beat an S Rank WITHOUT a perfect? I mean, you will have trouble getting an A if you start missing the beats, right? I mean, 2xmiss or 1xmiss and 2x50 means you get a B. How would you be able to get an S with a miss? The rest are 300?

Bah, I hate Hard Rock. The beats are so small that my hand covers them several times, and the hold ones appear very late so that I've already pulled up the stylus when the hold-bar appears. Pretty frustrating, actually. I can't even complete the simpler ones like UMCA or that magician casino stage.

BTW, Shion, how did you managed NOT to get Legendary Agent level and still beating Hard Rock? I got through sweatin' and I got it almost immidietly.

Maybe it had to do with the number of Elite Beats that I got in Ghost Mode I am new to playing it I even heard that it is possible to beat all 300 replay saved data however I can not get an okay in the first stage of September even though I get all 300s. :eh?:

As for not getting Legendary Agent yet....I guess I went on after completing each level of difficulty I never went back to improve my scores till after I beat Hard Rock Mode and by then the circles in sweating and crusin were going a lot slower then they were originally at least in my opinion they were.

I am also 2986922 points until I get my next rank and when I look at the list...yes I have gotten Legendary Agent already! :redd:
