Ohh... I thought it would be, like, a complete undo of the animé. I can't use youtube right now so I couldn't watch the trailer. I had to go off his word. And really, its Todd Snap. I watch the anime still and since Johto I don't remember even a mention of him. Hell, until I saw $oopah Nin10doh! I couldn't even remember him. So I have no clue what he's getting worked up over. I was shocked with the Jenny sentence because Jenny said that "I have sisters all over the world in every Pokémon Center!" or something along those lines. So that was a bit of a shocker. Contradiction lulzray

And actually, I've been watching the anime since Kindergarten in the year 1999. Though I didn't get into the games until 2004.
In 2008, I decided to take my hand at watching every single episode of the Indigo League and some of the Johto stuff for boredom's sake. I've also seen my fair share of episodes during the Advanced region, along with having seen every episode from seasons 10-12. Which is certainly more than I'm assuming you have seen since you probably stopped no later than season 5.
Now this is my personal belief, but the characters and story and setup of each and every episode have all been ridiculously corny since day 1. I admit that I only like watching it because I enjoy watching Pokemon battle more fluidly in a way that can only be seen in television and movies. Plus they make some sweet remixes for the video game music. The voice actors have no effect on me since all I care about hearing is the Pokemon talk, and those are always spot on. Plus, sometimes there are good moments that aren't just battles showing up at least once in all seasons.
In the end, I certainly don't mind watching some mindless entertainment on Saturday mornings. And if you do, then you can just sleep in and watch porn or whatever it is big kids watch these days.

News wise, all there is to my knowledge is Tabunne being a real pokémon. Sadly. Tabunne and the new bat are the only gen 5 pokémon I dislike so far.

And I still don't get what the old anime had that seems to be gone nowadays. In fact, the only major differences I can see are the animation quality, which has improved...

While we're on the subject of the TV series: I'm gonna go ahead and rate the Sinnoh Arc as the best one in the series' history so far. Unlike the ones before it, they stayed as best as possible within the rules of the Flagship Video Games, even remembering Pokemon Abilities. The biggest improvement in my eyes was Paul. Ash didn't have a rival, let alone someone whose methods are contradictory of his own since Gary quit after the Johto League (Though to be fair Gary didn't make too many appearances and he IS Oak's grandson and therefore had a number of advantages over Ash from the beginning). Paul's methods weren't lost on me as in the Video Game Circuit, his methods are not only acceptible but staple. It was obviously Nintendo taking shots at EV/IV training--a method proven to maximize a Pokemon's strengths in battle.
I've also noticed J&J really stepped away from their usual role of Antagonists/Anti-Heroes in the Sinnoh Arc. There was no mention of them being included in the Issue Arc but if they are, they'll likely play a different role. It's obvious the storywriters wanted to include them in the Sinnoh Arc but when you consider their roles have been scaled back over and over, one thing is inevitable: They quit TR. That's the only thing I can see happening at this point since they've failed in every attempt to please Giovanni. The only reason they were allowed to travel Hoenn and Sinnoh wad because Giovanni asked them to keep tabs on Teams Magma, Aqua and Galaxy. Giovanni's influence may be far and wide but it's doubtful even he will be interested in what the new Team might be up to.

And I still don't get what the old anime had that seems to be gone nowadays. In fact, the only major differences I can see are the animation quality, which has improved...

GARY MOTHERFUCKING OAK. And a million other things, but that's the main one. The rivals [game and shows] have become annoyances. Except for Paul. He's alright. I don't like his name though. And does that gay, purple-haired cacnea dude count as a rival? If he does, I like him too. The majority of the 4th generation pokemon are incredibly ugly. Not all, but most. Dawn... no words can describe how much I want to kill her. Misty was a hilarious grouch who tagged along just to get her bike back and May at least had Max to make up for her annoying personality. Dawn's just an irritating little thing in the way of the series. Plus, the whole series is just getting old. I hope that after the 5th generation, they come up with a final episode or something. Finally put Pokemon out of its redundant misery.

Oh, and the fact that as a child, the cheesiness seemed cool, but now it doesn't. Though the main reason I think is the nostalgia goggles.
Also people, stop acting like age is important in showing how intelligent you are! It's not. Bringing up your age in an argument shouldn't do anything, I think.

And has ash ever won a tournament that wasn't made up for the anime? And by that I mean ignore the Orange Island tourney as that is not in the game as of yet... I don't believe he's ever one any of the qualifying tourney's to fight the Elite 4...

I like Dawn, she doesn't make an ass out of herself towards Ash or Brock. I prefer her over May who I prefer over Misty. I haven't seen enough of the new girl to see if I prefer her over Dawn, but at least she seems to be different from them all.
And when Pokemon episodes stop being made, the games are also well on their well to finalization too. In other words, it's not gonna happen.

Which was revealed over a month ago on July 5th. Whoever created the scan definitely used this as a model.

As someone who has been watching Pokemon since the start of the Indigo League and has seen every season since (except for the latest Diamond and Pearl season), I see these changed elements as a fresh start.
Brock has been needing to do something, Dawn has no real reason to continue to Isshu, and I'm sure they want to do something new with Joy and Jenny. They have in the past, having at least one eccentric Joy and Jenny in the last three seasons. Besides, Ash needs a new mentor figure and I think he has graduated from Brock.
