Every time the image changes, that Rule-34 post of Lord Doitsu gets slightly more horrific.

Insert witty Lord of the Rings/Sonic and the Black Knight joke here:

Image

The Ore Club from Kid Icarus: Uprising. It's a bulky weapon that can unleash tornado projectiles. Never really used it in Uprising myself so I'm not sure if it does anything else, but it's considered a heavy, powerful weapon there so it's likely the case here as well.

Another sword item? I wonder if it's a launcher like the baseball bat or Hammer.

A tour of the Prism Tower stage rounds out the week.

It begins at the base of the tower during the daytime:
Image

You then climb around the tower by using floating platforms:
Image

By the time you reach the top, the sun starts setting:
Image

Presumably this leads into the original image for the stage, which was a far off shot of the tower at night.

I'm not sure if it is or not, but the lightning-like effect coming out of Pit's back indicates it was a pretty strong hit, so it's very well possible.

New character, Nester, funks it up!

Image

Spoiler:
Alright, it's a fake. But seriously, I was convinced for a minute until I checked the URL.

These fakes have been pretty entertaining so far, I'd have to admit. Just wait until the actual release and people will be so paranoid as to not trust anything that comes out as a "leak".

So Luigi appears to have a new final smash, which involves the Poltergust:

Image

Kind of a shame, I was rather fond of his ridiculous acid trip to the Negative Zone. But if Sakurai is willing to change final smashes, this gives hope to some of the returning characters to have better ones.

I'll admit the fake website is a nice touch, but that Nester model... bleh. The roughness alone is a dead giveaway.

I am...so sad they changed the Negative Zone, I loved Luigi's crazy secret Dark powers, and it's better than some as there's not really many bad times to use it because it's got such a wide AoE unlike say Ike's or Captain Falcon's.

Will need to see what it actually is mind.

Also after that Nester guy showed up I went and did a little research into him. The mascot for nintendo power throughout the ages, with a comic strip covering his life as kid to college student to man. Then I saw they made this and it really gets quite sad.

Indeed, he was the mascot for a long while in a comic strip called Howard & Nester in NP's early years. The one game he was in was Nester's Funky Bowling for the Virtual Boy, but he's seen obscurity in recent years. Other than the last comic in the final issue in Nintendo Power, the last time he was in a comic was in mid 2008, for the 20th anniversary of Nintendo Power.
I don't know the last time he appeared in his regular strip though.

Sakurai was being very cryptic with this stage today:

Image

All he said was that though it looks like a side-scrolling adventure game, it's definitely a stage. While the graphical layout and the spiked ball look like they're from Kid Icarus: Uprising, that spring looks identical from the one used in Brawl's stage builder and Subspace Emissary, so it's throwing a lot of people off.

The regular strip lasted until around 1993 as I recall, with Nester going to college, and they brought it back a few times for special occasions. And while it's true that Nester's Funky Bowling is the only game based directly on him (and his sister, I think?), he made several cameos and there were references to him in other games. The one I remember in particular is Lark from Pilotwings 64 being Nester in disguise or something to that effect.

Hmm... Maybe it's either an example of the new stage builder or maybe a continuation of the Kid Icarus Uprising stage? Maybe it's like the Fire Emblem Castle Siege stage where you fall through different segments of the stage?

That spring in the picture, looks amazingly generic. It looks exactly like the ones that appeared in the Subspace Emissary, I'd put money on it being a Stage Builder tool.

I was subscribed to NP for a few years until it ended, but I somehow never got the last two issues. I didn't realize they brought back Nester for a final comic. It really tears you up. :larry:

The Gust Bellows from Skyward Sword. It can blow enemies away, but it'll go out of control if you drop it. Sakurai also states that this time a good amount of the new items will be from the Zelda series. About half of the ones revealed so far are, though I hope for more of a mix than that.

Sjibbey wrote:

No, usually Final Destination is one of the last areas shown, close to the launch of the game, much like how Battlefield is the first shown.

I think I have almost every issue, with the exception of the first year and a half's worth. I wasn't subscribed for the last three years, but I always picked it up at the newsstand saying "Oh, I'll subscribe when I get the chance", and when I finally decided to do so, I found out it was being cancelled and new subscriptions were stopped. I never did find the last issue, though I was recently able to find a nicely kept copy of the first issue at a used book store, so maybe someday the same will happen for the last...

Geez why so many Zelda items? You can fill up a whole game with just items from that series.

Or perhaps a surprise reveal of Wii-U Zelda?

Ganondorf is still to be confirmed after all and they do tend to coincide their announcements with franchises.

I will be VERY frustrated if Ganondorf doesn't get changed move-set this time around. I'm confident that he will considering the treatment characters like Bowser have been getting, but still....

*shrug* I'm not saying Ghirahim should be in the game instead of Ganondorf. I personally wouldn't mind if Ganny was in the game, but they should alter his moveset. He is basically Captain Falcon, but with a weirder and much, much slower moveset. Which is what made him feel so clunky for me - obviously modeled after a fast character, having him most slowly is just confusing and takes you out of your rhythm.

From Animal Crossing, the newest AT is Isabelle:

She drops fresh-picked fruit for fighters to pick up and eat to regain health. So I guess she's like a new version of the party ball.

Also, Nintendo has announced that there will be a Smash-focused Nintendo Direct this Tuesday, April 8th at 6PM EST. Sakurai announced it as well, and promised it to be full of new footage and information, so look forward to it.

Looking forward to it.

Hmm they are releasing a bunch of games for the GBA right now...seeing how this is going to be a big one supposedly I'd hope there'd be another new character.

Golden Sun is one of the games being released....Advance Wars too...
