I started reading it yesterday and read several of them until 3 AM and then dreamt of VII. PS: I would hate them making episodes that fleshed out the Social Links. I already disliked Episode 5, when it revolved around Ai... I really dislike her.

As for Golden, I did enjoy most of the extra stuff that was added in. I enjoyed the improved fishing mechanics, the extra stuff you could do at night, most of the other little events they added in, getting to choose Persona abilities (as opposed to an hour of spending time until the randomizer gives you what you want) as well as having a couple of extra months to mess around. I'm still disappointed that they made the first two boss fights easier since so many people complained about their difficulty in the original. I didn't really care much about Marie. Adachi's link was fine and I liked the added scenes involving him. My favorite added scenes had to do with Nanako though. Just couldn't get enough of her. Teddie however, he was already on edge with me and the added scenes with him just made it worse.
I did enjoy the new music added in as well. The nighttime theme, the new Battle song, Marie's theme and dungeon theme, Snowflakes, and them putting in the reincarnation boss battle theme in as well. For everything they piled in, I liked more of the stuff than what I hated.
I still think though that pushing for an anime right away after making a remake is just ridiculous. Especially if it revolves around Marie... If they had done that with Persona 3, FES, P3P, and all that, I'd probably rage.

I'm a pretty big fan of some of the new music too...I just don't think that whatever they make from this would be worth it.
If it's a series then well...I can't see someone buying it if they already saw Persona 4 the Animation.
If it's a movie I doubt they'll be able to condense it appropriately.
But hey they're willing to make the gamble, maybe there's some folk who'll buy this.

Out of the 3 Persona games I've played, I have to say P4 is my favorite. It's not as depressing as 3 and the battle system is faster than 3 or Innocent Sin.

Don't get me wrong: I loved Persona 4, but I'm not sure whether the world is deep enough to warrant an anime based on a game built on another game.
I'm replaying Eternal Punishment right now, and honestly, it's still my favourite of all the ones I've played (which, I guess, is all of them, although I quit Revelations ten hours into the game when I realised I was just wasting my time, and my save file for Innocent Sin got corrupted about 50 hours in, welp). It ticks all my boxes: Great story, badass characters, non-shitty gameplay for the most part and groovy music. Rule of cool all around.
Really wish EP got an anime, or at least IS.

On the subject of music from Persona 4, I really love some of the dungeon themes, Sauna in particular has a really cool hardcore electro feel to it, except it has Hammond Organ. One of my favourite pieces of VGM ever!

Honestly, this thread should just be a SMT thread. Anyway, it's a matter of preference, but SMT is much, much darker than Persona.

Sure, even the art style is "darker." From what I've seen, SMT is very critical with its attacks on politics and religion. Americans are portrayed as bloodthirsty villains and the main antagonist is literally the Christian God. It's no wonder it took forever for them to get released outside of Japan.
SMT can also be brutally difficult if you don't know what you're doing.

If you can shelve out the money, I'd suggest going for a Vita. That way you can get Persona 4 Golden and purchase the other Persona games on the PSN since they're all available as Playstation and PSP downloads.

Is it confirmed on the European PSN shop too? I've been hurt before by being super excited about PS2 releases on the PSN (Godhand) which had massively different release dates in Europe. My girlfriend has been curious to play Persona 4 but her old PS2 is busted so it doesn't matter if I loan it.

Considering people are complaining about Persona 4 being used as a cash cow, people would complain about that, too. Also, it wouldn't just be four games, it would be 5, considering Persona 2 is separated into two games, and the fact that P2 (at least from what I saw) has a terribly high random encounter frequency... and P1 and P2 were so vastly different from P3 and P4, they might not sell well. Also, no real connection between those games. P3 and P4 have no full connection, either, I mean you don't need to play 3 to get 4, but they do share a continuity (apparently).

Well, considering SMT4 was on the DS, it's really not too surprising. I think as far as most of their games go, they prefer to make them for the more popular console, and considering that the PS2 was way more popular in Japan than the XBox, it makes sense why they released the Persona games on there. If they made their games for less popular consoles, they probably wouldn't sell as well. Besides, I see Sony's consoles as more of an RPG market than Microsoft's. I really can't see too many XBox owners going out and buying RPGs. They're out there, but it's not as commonplace as those who own Playstations.
As for Golden, I was actually surprised they put it on the Vita to be honest, considering it's not as popular as the 3DS. I gather the Vita had the processing power they needed compared to the 3DS. Still, I feel it was quite a gamble, but liked well enough to help it become a system seller, whereas with SMT4, it was more of a safe bet to have it on the 3DS since it's way more popular.

I woudn't be so sure about that according to vg chartz, even if the North american version of the XBox version did better, it's still very pale in comparison of the PS3 version. If I got it right it is 140 000 PS3 copy vs 6 000 Xbox copy. In total the Xbox version sold not even a million (100 000) in the world.
I am talking about the arena version, but even so it can tell us a bit about the popularity of just the name. If you want to know the numbers for original persona 4 and 3 and their remakes on PSConsoles it's about 250 000 units each in NA (4 being the better with around 340 000 units). It's even worse when you go 1 and the two 2. Let's say it known but still a niche.

Probably, but I'd probably see it going more the route of optional rather than mandatory. If anything, I'd think the bottom screen would be more useful for maps and showing stats while all the action goes on at the top. I'm thinking it'd probably have handled more along the lines of how FF4DS approached it.

I kinda doubt it... they might've gone the Tales of the Abyss route. Used buttons for most, touch screen was a map at times, other times it's for shortcuts. They could've made the menu a tap the screen kind...

Granted there's no way to sense tone effectively on the internet but I'm pretty sure you're not fond of touch controls.
You are now complaining about hypothetical touch controls in a game that does not exist. Perhaps ease up on the criticism a smidge. It'd probably be a map and fast persona swapping outside of battle with commands shown on the touchscreen in battle but its all a moot point.
Nothing really wrong with toujch controls unless they are absolutely just thrown in. Like the weird minigame to cut through drapes and stuff in Uncharted on psvita.
Also dullahan I grant that smt4 is on 3ds but its not a persona game. Until Q persona games (excluding arena) had been exclusively Sony.
