First, give full party control.
Second, have handmade dungeons.
Alternatively, lose the "I'm tired" stuff and let you explore indefinitely.
Third, downplay the social links, or at the very least integrate them better so the game is not "dungeon crawler / dating sim" but "dungeon sim date crawler".

I agree with you of all of these changes.
I also hope they bring back negotiations with demons just as they did in Persona 2. (I don't know if they did that in Revelations: Persona...I never played that.)

Well Atlus has anounced that Persona 4 will be released North America on December 9, 2008. with a retail price of 39.99 And it'll be a 2 disk set, the game and a bonus soundtrack. Also they have release a offical website here http://www.atlus.com/persona4/home.html

Persona 3 was given a more stylized, futuristic motif; Persona 4 will be more retro (certainly explains the manga sound effects and extremely tokusatsu Personae).
In this little town in the middle of the country mist appears every night, and there've been some mysterious murders. There are rumors of "Midnight TV" (the obvious counterpart to the Dark Hour in P3) which allows you to see visions of yourself provided you're wearing those glasses.

My Persona 4 came in the mail. It's awesome so far. This cast is way better than Persona 3's, in both design and characterization (again, so far). It also has a plot this time (ahem, so far) so that's cool too. Plus the camera is way less static (so far?) and Igor's limousine is freaking awesome, too bad there's no goddamned Elizabeth (so far? ;__;) but I'm liking Margarette just fine (... so far). Other than that, it plays like a much, much more refined Persona 3, so don't expect any huge changes (so far?!).
I'm digging this bitch.
