I find it odd that no one has posted this here yet (or they did and it just died Image). Anyway, will this game be the best of the series, or will it cause it to shrivel and die.

Also, the game will be out in 8 days, so.... yeah.

Yes, it's the one with Yoda and Darth Vader in it. As well as the Apprentice from The Force Unleashed.
360: Yoda
PS3: Darth Vader
Both: Apprentice

Also, Someone told me that there is one final character slot still open on the character select screen. I would assume this is for the DLC Vader and Yoda for the consoles they are not on.

To be honest I think both Yoda and Darth vader should have been in both versions, once people knew they were in the game people dreamed of lightsaber duels, although that is possible with the apprentice he's just a generic and uninspired character and is only in for some free advertising for force unleashed. (it also means that people are more inclined to buy the PS3 version due to vader's popularity)

It really wouldn't matter in a few months, when the game has been released for a while. They will put Yoda on the PlayStation Store and Vader on the Xbox Live Marketplace and then everyone can play as both of them.

Yeah, don't ask me. Vader was sent to the Soul Calibur universe on orders from the emperor to get the swords, Yoda went to stop him, and the Apprentice, whom you failed to mention, went because he can do whatever the f**k he wants.

I'm looking forward to see how the game goes, being a Soul Calibur fan. But I was shocked to see that Yoda and Darth Vader were in the game. I found it kind of random. But, it's not a bad thing. I'm interested.
I'm just happy Voldo is back in the game. <3

Good Lord this game is awesome.

Okay, maybe it isn't the most technical fighter in the world, but when you actually play against another human being it's incredibly intense. I just went into a tourney earlier today (I main Kilik, with Amy as my alt), and let me tell you, winning the final on a Critical Finish is probably going to become one of the defining moments in my gaming career.

Thank God no-one played Yoda though. Little green bastard's cheap as hell.

Just played it on the PS3 and it's rather interesting. Most of the characters are given some revamped moves or moves that are tweaked. But Darth Vader is fugging sick...he's bloody hax0r. Slow but if you know how to cancel, then GG indeed...

I NEED this game.
The hype about the Star Wars characters isn't deserved, I think.
I'll TRY to use Yoda, but I think in the end, i'll end up creating Ike and maining him. ^^'
Either that, or i'll main Raphael.
I was good as Assassin but they took him out for 2 onwards...

Assassin wasn't even in the original JP release of 2, though....

Anyway, for I'll put Amy's ending for the game, but it's a spoiler. WATCH AT YOUR OWN RISK

I'll probably rent it (never was really into the soul calibur series) For me, I think it's just become too sexed up >_> <_< >_> Somebody will probably flame for that. Of course, that's when I actually GET a 360. (The only reason I'm going to get is because of FFXIII, RE5, and some other games that I can't remember.)

At least it's not DOA, which boasted not very much in the ways of game play to the point they actually made a beach volleyball game out of it. Sort of a "Oh who are we kidding" deal, there. What's also nice about SC is that the art direction maintains a slightly Gothic fantasy feel to it; I feel the game as a whole stands on its own, so some fan service is forgivable, especially when it's woven in more seamlessly than most.

For awhile I was highly anticipating DBZ Burst Limit and SC4. I soon lost interest in both (and fighting game in general), and had quite a distaste entirely for the genre after my friends and I actually rented Burst Limit. Terrible, terrible game.

But then we rented SC4 and fucking wow, the game is amazing. I want it badly now. Everything about the game is perfect (except for Yoda. Lame character and cheap to play with due to his height), and I'm upset that so many people have the nerve to excessively bitch about it (probably because they wasted the extra $20 on the LE version).

Knowing Namco, Vader and the LE exclusive suit and maid outfits will be available in XBLA (and Yoda on PSN) before next spring, regardless of what Lucas said. If they gave Namco any form of creative rights, then they're sure as hell going to use it to put Vader and Yoda into both versions if it means earning an extra penny.

as this is a faq thread essentially, how many different voices are there for created characters?
Also with the game being sexed up, just imagine what the inevitable sequel will be like.

Soulcalibur IV...

I wanted to give it a 10/10, but I'm only giving it an 8/10. There's TOO MUCH depth. Just because your created character lacks armor, or only wears a cape (SEE: Leonidas) doesn't mean he has to start with half-health! Plus, to use different weapons, you have to make a new version of the character! And they fucked up the voices, especially Tira's. Nightmare's new voice is cool, though, and the Critical Finishers rock, and DARTH MOTHERFUCKING VADER, but...*sigh* Why? WHYYYYYY?

However, the core fighting is still a blast with friends, the stages are great, the characters are still cool (No mimic? WTF?).

Even if they did add too much depth, remove the created character disciplines (WHY-HY-HY-HY- I WANT MY WAVE SWORD DAMMIT), and made Story MOde...fail.

I'd still reccomend it, even though they messed bits of it up. I'd say the pros outweigh the cons.

And The Apprentice is a blast to use, but DARTH FRIGGIN VADER

You don't have to make a new character to use a different fighting style/set of weapons.

At least, I did when I played the PS3 version.

WAit, you can choose weapons before a fight, like in the old ones? How?

Uh, yeah. That's what I mean. You have to edit the character or make a new version just to change the weapon, instead of picking it on the character select screen.

At least editing the existing characters is fun.

But I stand by my opinion of TOO MUCH DEPTH.
