I'm trying to achieve 100 wins in Battle Tower. My last run, I got up to 77 with this:

Starmie@Life Orb (lead)
Timid
EVs in SPATK/HP/SPE (forgot what the exact spread was)
Surf
Psychic
Ice Beam
Thunderbolt

Garchomp@Yache Berry
Jolly
252 ATK/252 SPE/6 HP
Outrage
Earthquake
Fire Fang
Swords Dance

Scizor@Choice Band
Adamant/Technician
252 ATK/252 SPE/6 HP
Bullet Punch
U-Turn
Brick Break
Aerial Ace

I was actually surprised at how awesome Scizor is and how useful he can be in all kinds of situations. But if you got any better ideas, or want to post your teams (in-game or online), then by all means please do.

What's the fun in competitve play? The game itself is a whole lot better =D

Yes, but, competitive play can be made a part of "the game itself".

As for the team...

Well, first, I thought Life Orb raised Attack, not Special Attack. I'm not sure and I need to check about that, but, if that's the case, just try Leftovers instead.

As for the Garchomp... A rather unusual set, with Yache Berry and Fire Fang, but it seems like it works. But, I don't think Outrage is a particularly good choice -- it IS powerful, but its effects can get on the way. Since you have Swords Dance and all, I'd suggest Dragon Claw instead, it's powerful enough with Garchomp's mighty Attack. Of course, if you don't feel Outrage getting on your way, you can keep it.

The Scizor, though, looks flawless from every angle. Although I don't know if there is a fighting move that can take advantage of Techinician, which would go better than Brick Break probably.

I don't remember how tough the Battle Tower really gets, in fact I never got to go very far up, but, if I'm not looking at it wrong, you might consider a little replacement in the team. I don't know which one should be out of the window, but, I'm not sure a team with sweepers only can fare really well. If one of the battles gets you grasping, you might want a Pokémon with reliable resistance, such as Rhyperior or Milotic.

I guess you could say I occasionally play "seriously", but not in game. IV checking and the like is a bitch. I did play a lot of shoddy over the summer, I don't have any particularly impressive teams, but some of it is pretty random.

I may take the time to type out my teams later.

and what do you do when you've finished everything in the game?

i used to play a lot of dp competitive after it came out; i was on smogon and shoddy and all that good stuff. i kind of fell out of it because i got really tired of breeding, and shoddy was never my favorite way to play. plus, smogon is full of dicks anyway.

I'm on Shoddy every now and then, and I really fail at making competitive teams in-game. Heck, I've only got two Pokémon up to level 100 ever.

While I'm at it, I might as well post my SB team. I don't plan on using it for much longer, but...

Demon (Breeloom) @ Toxic Orb
Jolly/Poison Heal
50HP/252ATK/208SPD
Spore/Protect/Seed Bomb/Mach Punch

Miles (Milotic) @ Zap Plate
Calm/Marvel Scale
252HP/232DEF/24SATK
Surf/Hidden Power(Electric)/Recover/Hypnosis

Orb (Spiritomb) @ Leftovers
Modest/Pressure
252HP/6DEF/252SATK
Dark Pulse/Hidden Power(Fightning)/Nasty Plot/Shadow Sneak

O'Chomp (Garchomp) @ Brightpowder
Adamant/Sand Veil
252ATK/6DEF/252SPD
Dragon Claw/Earthquake/Substitute/Swords Dance

Avenger (Weavile) @ Expert Belt
Jolly/Pressure
40HP/252ATK/218SPD
Ice Punch/Aerial Ace/Brick Break/Pursuit

Hog (Camerupt) @ Leftovers
Quiet/Solid Rock
228HP/96DEF/186SATK
Flamethrower/Earth Power/Stealth Rock/Explosion

I swear to God, Battle Tower is gonna be the death of me.

Also, that Garchomp would be absolutely evil if paired up with Tyranitar.

Garchomp is broken. And they banned the sucker.
If you want a vicious brick, an EV-Trained Metagross with DEF and ATK through the roof. It's a giant brick just waiting to launch itself at its foes.
But if you really want get smart on EV do what I do:
send in a weaker pokemon, then switch out for the one you intend to EV train with. I got +19 Atk boost on Lugia when I tried to EV train a Metagross.
This method involves forcing the shrinking of the experience gained in order to gain more EV out of it. Trust me, it worked when I tried.
Btw: I might be able to work out more EV methods, so I'll keep posting when I find more.

There's so much one can do with garchomp. Ridiculous abilities and the like.
Honestly, if you want my team, it kinda sucks.

The thing's a beast.

The standard Jolly YacheChomp can survive an ice attack, use the turn to Swords Dance, then sweep the opponent's team. 333 Speed goes a long way.

Then you use Ice Shard and to the depth of hell goes said Garchomp.

And I don't remember exactly, but, last time I checked, they can also be outrunned and beaten down by Weavile/Deoxys-E as long as they are unboosted/not using Substitute.

Also, if they are going to ban Garchomp, then ban Deoxys-E as well. Maybe it's just me, but that monster can beat my whole team down, even the Spiritomb.

180 in both attack powers, and 150 speed.

Or 160 in both defences, without any particularly bad stat (Besides HP).

Or 180 speed, with both attack powers and defences pretty good.

Plus, a decent movepool for every option.

Does that kinda suck?

I'm bumping this because I started playing Shoddy again.

Team:

CELL (Scizor) @ Life Orb
Adamant/Technician
34 HP/252 Attk/224 Spe
Bullet Punch/Roost/Superpower/Swords Dance

Lil Jabba (Hariyama) @ Leftovers
Adamant/Thick Fat
76 HP/252 Attk/180 Def
Focus Punch/Ice Punch/Substitute/Thunder Punch

Chaaaaaaaa (Pikachu) @ Light Ball
Modest/Static
252 SpA/252 Spe
Thunderbolt/HP Ice/Grass Knot/Surf

BROZONG (Bronzong) @ Life Orb
Relaxed/Heatproof
252 HP/152 Attk/8 Def/96 SpDef
Gyro Ball/Explosion/Trick Room/Reflect

Pants King (Slowking) @ Leftovers
Modest/Own Tempo
212 HP/44 Def/252 Sp Attk
Grass Knot/Surf/Nasty Plot/Slack Off

ERUPTING BURNING HEATRAN (Heatran) @ Leftovers
Modest/Flash Fire
228 HP/30 Spe/252 Spc Attk
Earth Power/Fire Blast/Metal Sound/Taunt

Cleaning up with Pikachu is amazing, though I've only actually pulled one real "sweep" with him so far.
