I've been a co-admin at one of the biggest MegaMan fansites for a while now,
Rockman Perfect Memories, and a few days ago we managed to score our second huge hit towards the site treasury (the first one
this picture of X2's legendary Green Biker Dude Who Dies In The Opening Sequence Without A Single Line In The Whole Game, or the Green Biker Dude for short) signed by Keiji Inafune himself at an event that took place in New York about a year and a half ago.
By now, at least SOME of you must have played MegaMan X8 (which is quite old by now, at 4 years of its US release), and/or MegaMan X Command Mission, and maybe even the more recent MegaMan Maverick Hunter X for PSP. If so, and if you've been following the games at all (specifically during their PS1 era), you'll remember that MegaMan voice acting was always berated for having given ALL the characters girly voices, especially Zero, one of the manliest gaming characters ever, his bishonen status notwithstanding. >_> As such, the entire world rejoiced when, with the release of X8, Command Mission, and subsequently, Maverick Hunter X, the characters were voiced by people who could really ACT the parts, instead of the girly voices from X4 or the extremely unemotional and out-of-tune voices from X7.
Turns out the voice actor behind Zero's voice, Lucas Gilbertson, happens to be a gaming fan and a BIG fan of MegaMan as well, and he agreed to record a few introduction clips for the site, so basically, every time you browse the front page of RPM, you get the goddamn Zero himself greeting you (thanks to the magic of ultra-small MP3s and some little bits of Flash tinkering). I set up a little system so that each time the front page is loaded, one of three clips loads at random, so you can have Zero greeting you in three different ways.
Now tell me the MegaMan fandom ain't awesome. =D
