And then you have Bob.
Whose Bob? Well, Bob is a programmer. And at the moment, he's been working for five years to create a Nintendo DS game called Bob's Game. And while it isn't exactly the most creative title, it seems to be shaping up to be a great game.
However, there is a problem.
"This is my game for Nintendo DS, a 20-hour-long retail-size,
retail-quality adventure title by a single human being-
the largest game ever made by one person."

story, puzzles, item collection, and communication instead

I met with Nintendo in February- almost a YEAR ago- to ask for the SDK.
I did teleconferencing. I flew to GDC and had a face-to-face meeting.
I asked the WarioWorld division, and they sent me to marketing.
I talked to marketing, and they said apply with WarioWorld division!
The agreement on the application states I will receive a decision in 6-8 weeks. It has been 17 weeks!
I fulfill all the requirements- I'm a financially stable registered company with a FEIN working from a commercial address.
When Nintendo decides to approve my developer license application I will end my protest.
I worked on this project for five years because I wanted to make a "Nintendo game."
I'm not about to give up just because some stubborn intern or mid-level marketing exec at NOA is deleting my emails!
I want an answer, and I want to hear it from the top.
Will the men of talent at Nintendo- those with passion and ideas of their own- dismiss mine?"

So, Bob has a problem. Nintendo will NOT supply him with a development kit, or an SDK, despite how many times he's asked for it. What does he do now, you ask?

That's right. He's protesting Nintendo by barricading his room and staying inside until he gets his demands. Sure, one might look at this game as a "homebrew" game. However, once he gets one of these kits it won't be one any longer. So what if he hasn't got a team of developers working on this game? It's still shaping up to look great, and Nintendo won't help him. It might seem extreme what he's doing, yes, but understand; he's been working on this for years, and he's not about to give up over this.
So, how can you help? Write a letter to Nintendo. Tell them you want Bob to continue his game until it's able to be released. Nintendo is all about innovation and such, but when a one man company comes to them with a game ready to be made for their system, they turn him away! He has every requirement to get the license to develop the game for the DS, so they should let him!

Honestly though, making a game by yourself isn't as difficult as it sounds.

I'm sorry, I can't tell who you're insulting, under the assumption you are insulting anyone in particular...
But if it isn't already obvious, I'm not a Fanboy of any particular system, but I have checked out my information before speaking on the matter... And while they pretty much said there would be new Zelda and Mario games with a murmur, the Pikmin 3 game WAS announced clearly, and was also spoken about on X-Play.
... I don't know why the heck I was even WATCHING X-Play...

Sorry, but Nintendo hasn't cared about its fans in the longest time (at least six years). Twilight Princess was some sort of miracle fluke and we won't ever be served anything of its quality in any of Nintendo's franchises ever again. And you know why? Because Nintendo gets a lot more money when they make games that are easy to develop, take very little time and money to develop, and sell in the eight digits margin rather than making games that take years to develop, millions of dollars, and only a couple million sell. Nintendo's target audience doesn't want to play Zelda or Star Fox or F-Zero. They want to play simple games they can get into and out of quickly and that they can have fun with while other people are present.
On top of that, Nintendo realizes its "fans" are nothing more than blind idiots who will follow them no matter what they do, so they don't have to make any of their main franchise games for support. They're not idiots. They know if they toss out one of their franchise games every two to four years then their moronic fanbase will stay right where they are, panting and wagging their tails and praising how awesome Nintendo is for being so generous. They flat out scoffed at the biggest video game petition of all time because they just don't care (and probably for the better... Sonic Team USA did nothing but listen to the fans, and you know what that resulted in? Sonic Heroes, Shadow The Hedgehog, and the new NiGHTS...three shitfests).
So, ya, you go ahead and have fun waiting for your subpar Zelda and Pikmin title when they come out for the Wii.

My point with what I had explained, was that just by showing that they have plans for some of their mainstream "Series", that one could come to the conclusion that they care somewhat about the fans.
Mind you, even I don't believe the argument is without its' flaws, but by coming to the conclusion Nintendo doesn't care about the fans, then we must all come to the conclusion that none of the three main companies care about their fans.
Which, I might add, would explain why there are no innovative games coming out, and pretty much everything is a sequel or a spin-off series, with minor exceptions...
But NONE of the companies care about their fans. Simply saying "Nintendo doesn't care about their fans" is misleading... NONE of them do.

Yes, that is indeed the problem. It'd take me years to learn the nessecary amount of Japanese needed. I'm not that devoted to gaming people, that I'd spend years learning a language to plau a game or two. That, and the fact I cannot buy online, or have the money to go importing every game I want.
And Disaster is coming over here? Can you provide me with a link? I got the impression that Reggie hated it.
Punch-Out the way it is now just seems to be like Facebreaker was supposed to be, and that game wasn't very successful, if I recall. I'm fine with cartoony games, but this is different than the original Punch-Out, IMO. But, because I've only seen screenshots of it, I'll see how it'll be in the reviews.
