I recently plain Chinatown wars and i think it's a pretty good game (The only DS game that actually is fun recently) Aside from the small quirks it lives up to it's GTA heritage.

For those people who live under a rock, here's the wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Thef ... atown_Wars

Anyway, i want to know what you think about the game:

1. Do you like the new Wanted system?
2. When you first played the game, were you disappointed or impressed?
3. Does it live up to the GTA franchise's heritage or was it just an epic failure? (like GTA Advance)
4. What were you impressed by?
5. What were you disappointed by?

My Answers:

1. Yes, because it encourages players to take on the police, instead of running away.
2. I was largely impressed, i was under the impression that most game developers couldn't cope with 4mb of ram, but Chinatown wars proved that the DS isn't a piece of shit.
3. I think it lives up to the standards of GTA. It has almost everything and a few new features.
4. The game wasn't filled up with massive "in your face" pixels and the game looks pretty sweet.
5. If you drive a fast car, you can see where the Nintendo DS hasn't loaded (when i entered a new area, i saw a olive void for 1 second, obviously the DS was loading the new area)

Also who do you think should be the new Triad boss? Kenny, Chan or Zhou?

Spoiler: Early game spoiler
Why did Ling have to die? She's the only Female character in the game! (I think, only 25% finished
So, What do you guys think of GTA: Chinatown Wars?Topic%20Title

I personally loved it. I thought it was really innovative and smart. Obviously I wish it could have been like GTA4 and behind the character but they've done the whole top down isometric idea really well. I've only done a few of the missions but i'm still really enjoying it.

What do you think?

My god, are you kidding? Have you slept since? XD
I'm stuck on the mission with that policeman on the floor bleeding being held hostage and the guy with the chaingun who you have to kill.
Dear god, the chaingun is almighty. Or I just suck. :sadshoe:

I just played Chinatown wars 4-5 hours a day, no biggie. Anyway that one, every now and then, the guy with the chaingun cowers behind the shipping crate, use your smg or something to shoot him. Or throw some molotov cocktails at him (Molotov Cocktails > Grenades)

Btw, getting fully cocked weaponry is a very wise investment, the Revolver destroys vehicles faster then the SMG ( your SMG will be your primary weapon early in the game)

The Game was probably one of those "can't put it down" sort of games, so i played it quite alot.

The reason why i said the minigun isn't all mighty, is because there is a mission where you are the gunner on a boat, and you get a minigun with unlimited ammo, and apparently it's ineffective against helicopters.

This game got 4 90-100s ratings, was commented as "The best game on the DS"

It's a good damn sweet game. Heck yes buy it. You won't regret it. It may lose some features from the other Gtas (unable to get a sniper rifle or drive a helicopter outside missions, but there are sniper and helicopter missions and such) But makes up for these with:

Ammu-nation being a website on your pda, so you order your weapons and it's delivered to your safehouse.
You can deal drugs to get money, basically buy low, sell high.
Really easy navigation, you can tap the gps map on the touch screen, tap a destination and it'll give you the path for the shortest LEGAL route to the destination.
Small micro-games in-between the action (if you drive your car into the water while still in it, you have to bash the front window to get out, also various way of starting up a car that doesn't have a ignition key in it, such as using a screwdriver and hotwiring)
Instead of hiding from the cops to get your wanted level down, you have to make a certain amount of police cars to crash (by their own stupidity) if you don't get spotted by the cops on 1 star, you'll lose your wanted level.
You can Hi-jack ammu-nation trucks and rival gang trucks and steal their contents (after you get back to your safehouse)
If you fail a mission, you can press select to restart.
Different weapons (haven't played all the Gtas, so don't know if they are new or old) Tasers ,sword, revolver, flashbang (never used it so don't ask) and you can fit a bomb on a car and detonate it from afar (only avaliable late game)

First game this year that i got addicted to. Finished all the missions in 3 days :p not exactly a short game ether (probably 15-30 hours mission content minimum, if you only do the missions that is.)

Hidden side quests.

Have fun reading that wall of text :)

It's no fun to play with no wanted level, you can kill civillians and steal cars as long as there are no cops around. If you get a wanted level, the cop'll send suicidal police cars at you. But if you shoot a rocket from a RPG, you'll automatically get a wanted star.

Also if you want to go on a "rampage" there is a mode/sub-mission called "rampage" where you get swarmed by gang members and you get a weapon that has unlimited ammo and your current weapons (depending on where the location of the mission is, the rampage missions are scattered around the map.)

Action Replay makes fun games into a load of crap.

Tru dat. :odoroki:

Actually I discovered, that if you activate a cheat code (not with action replay), the game won't save automatically so, its a sort of punishment for using cheats in the first place (I only did it once, I swear! :accordion-head: )

Anyway. Games great. I'm really enjoying it. :keiko:

I think it's too short, it said i only spent 7 hours on the missions :/ Also cheat codes can mess up your graphics and such.
