Great sequel to Aria of Sorrow... Show the DS's 2D power and that 2D games are still good.

Yep definitely like it beat it with Soma and Julius Mode too.

If you like this one I suggest that you get other games too meaning: Circle of The Moon, Double pack which has both Harmony of Dissonance and Aria of Sorrow (I suspect both are pain to find as separate originals as they seem to be quite rare.) for GBA and also Portrait of Ruin which is the newest one for DS.

I agree Castlevania never gets old even the older platformers are fun still.

I plan to get it sometime, if I can find it.

I've never played a Castlevania game before (except for a rom for a second >_>) and they look interesting.

I prefer Potrait of Ruin, but I still loved this game.

I succubus glitched through my second playthrough though >.<

I've always been a huge Castlevania fan, and even downloaded Symphony of the Night when it hit XBOX Live. I just pray they don't screw up the movie.
Let's be honest...if you have it, you don't need it. If you don't need it, you don't have it. If you have it, you need more of it. And if you have more of it, you don't need less of it.

A Symphony Of The Night movie? That would be cool. :) Is there or might there be one in the works?

I've played most of the Castlevania games, still playing CSotN on XBL. I gotta say that I liked Dawn of Sorrow more than PoR because the music was better, that's my only reason lol.

I have read that there is Castlevania movie coming... Plot focuses on Simon Belmont, but still takes place on several different times. And core details about conflict between Dracula and Belmont's will be told.

Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. D:

I loved this game. But Portrait of Ruinw as better. But that game is godly, and Dawn of Sorrow is simply great.

A great game, dare I say so myself.

I claimed everything in the game, including Chaos Ring (LOTR anybody?), and still wasn't bored :phoenix:

The music is great (especially the tune from the Dark Lord Soma fight), and the game itself is quite epic (I couldn't get enough of Menace battle) and simple, but interesting plot and RPG features are what make this game great.

Portrait of Ruin was kinda boring =/ The system for gaining new spells and weapons was really boring (LOL spam the same attack 1000 times on 1000 different enemies to make it stronger). Also 1/2 the stuff in PoR was useless. I still enjoyed it but I liked DoS much more.

I've been a Castlevania fan since Circle of the Moon (which I think is way underrated, BTW), and Dawn of Sorrow is my favorite of the series so far! I really liked the castle layout for some reason, and the soul system really lends itself to a lot of experimentation to find which souls fit your playstyle best.

Is Dawn of Sorrow worth it if you already own Aria of Sorrow? Are the stages the same?

No. Even though there may be a few of the trademark locales (throne room, clock tower, etc.), the stages are completely different.
Storywise, DoS might just be the only CV game where you're NEVER in the actual Castlevania.
Spoiler:
Afterall, it was sealed away in an eclipse in 1999, and "re-sealed" several years later after Soma defeated Chaos, the source of the castle's demonic power. I think.

Several of the stages in DoS actually make use of the DS' 3D capabilities. Check out the 1st area in DoS, as well as the clock tower on your way to the throne room.

DoS is NOT a remake of AoS, but a sequel to it.

I could go on about it, but I'll save that for later.

Spoiler:
AP:
I haven't played DoS for sometime now. My only copy was stolen along a long time ago along w/ my PSP and the games that came for both systems.
This boss is obviously a pain and no easy feat to defeat.
The first form shouldn't be too much of a problem (I'm sure you figured that out by now).
However, it's second form requires some quick footwork and complete memorization of its movements.
Sadly, those "options"/things that home in on you are endless. Do what you can to not get caught in the corner.
I've tried getting behind it every now and then. It can attack too well from this position (its only real ATK being a rear kick), but it may be difficult to get back in front.
Sorry, but that's all the help I can give you right now.
