Consoles allowed - Nintendo Wii (including Virtual Console and WiiWare), Nintendo DS (including DSiWare), XBox360 (including online features), PlayStation3 (including the PlayStation Network), PlayStation2, GameBoy/GameBoyAdvance, Personal Computers
These are the rules-
1. You can only vote once, please do so
2. Please do not reply to others' comments
3. If there is a console that you want me to add, please PM me or post here
4. You can vote a maximum of 1 game per console
5. Anyone is allowed to vote, please don't join just so you can vote, you need at least 25 posts to vote
6. Please only place titles that are rated T, 12, B and under. (In the order of ESRB, PEGI, and CERO)
6b. There is an exception of some games rated M, 18, or D, however, some titles can be deemed too inappropriate.
Anyway, there is no set limit on what games you can choose and this is just for fun. Please don't overdo this. Part Two will have the top 3 rated games by users for each console, and you can vote once per console... again. This will expire on February 21st, 2010, so don't dawdle. Cancelled games can be placed on the list as long as they have obtained a proper rating from ESRB, PEGI, or CERO, depending on your location.

What I'm driving at is that you shouldn't limit everyone's vote because you don't approve or agree. If this is about opinion, then why should you limit their opinions?

I understand what you're saying. In my opinion it was only non-canon because they HAD to fit everything into KH2. I honestly just want them to make a game after KH2 so they don't have to explain themselves as much.

Some of the best games were 15s and 18s, as has been said, so you can't discount them. May I remind you, that a good portion of CR's members are over 16. So maybe you should unrestrict the rules, or change the topic title to "Best under 18 Game of 2009". I'm just sayin'. I've even got a 12-year old friend who goes with his sister to buy the latest GTA game. And Call of Duty game.
My friend, I'll just say one thing. The age rating... means nothing!
Now my "choices" of 2009 are:
DS: Pokemon Platinum
DSiWare: Rayman 1 (PS1 port)
Wii: Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games
Xbox 360: Grand Theft Auto 4 - Ballard of Gay Tony (Seriously. This was one of the best games ever.)
PS3: Call of Duty - Modern Warfare 2 (see above)

XD I find this rating dispute hilarious. I played rated M games with my dad when I was 5, and there's nothing wrong with me. =D [Ha. Did I just say there's nothing wrong with me? Haha. Funny.] And I'm 14 now, though I have lost passion for rated M games [WTF I FREAK OUT WHILE PLAYING LUIGI'S MANSION MORE THAN ANY M GAME] they're still alright as long as it's not ALL about blood, sex, and violence. Seriously, if violence makes a game boring, then let's just cut out all the fighting parts in Kingdom Hearts and murder cases in Phoenix Wright while we're at it. Wii: Trauma Center New Blood [D= it's so underrated]
Playstation 2: Kingdom Hearts 2 [also underrated by a lot of people even though it was SO much better than the first]
Gameboy series: F*CKING POKEMON CRYSTAL YES!
Also, can you add the Nintendo 64 to the list, or is that too old? XD [and is Pokemon Crystal too old too?]

Says the guy whose vote for game of the year went to Pokemon Platinum, a game that rehashes the same formula which has been used 50 times before. You're a moron, or as the gaming folk say, a complete "noob". It wouldn't surprise me if the only reason you're saying that is because your parents won't let you play M rated games. And like Catgrenade said, not all M-rated games are just mindless violence. Look at Metal Gear Solid 4, Dragon Age Origins or (although technically it came out in 2010) Mass Effect 2. Although I suppose you're too busy waiting for HeartGold or whatever it is to bother with games with actual story in them.
Oh, and if we're allowed to vote for games not made in 2009 that we still played (which again defeats the purpose of the title and doesn't really make sense), than my wii vote goes to Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Nintendo didn't really have that many great gamesfor the wii last year. As far as I remember, the only major one was NSMBW, and I didn't find it that great to be honest.

Look, I can totally get behind your choice not to play M rated games. I'm not going to knock that for a second, because I think it's a legitimate choice, and you could have any number of reasons for it that aren't getting expressed very well. I know that I'm pretty sickened every time a fifth grader brags to me about playing Modern Warfare with his jackass big brother. I really don't think kids ought to be playing that stuff, even if the vast majority of them are likely to turn out perfectly well-adjusted. (And I'm with you that Call of Duty and it's many incarnations are boring as heck. Taste, as it turns out, is pretty subjective, though.)
Banning adult gamers from voting for M games they like--in a People's Choice sort of poll-- even if you don't want to play them, is downright silly.
Also, since release year also doesn't matter, I will vote for Ocarina of Time as 2009's best Nintendo 64 game.
