A once in a lifetime experience!

Except if you play it more than once, obviously, but anyway, the number is finite, so make it good!

Im literally about to play this. I love Earthbound (my favourite game ever...), and I can't wait to get started. I imported Mother 3 on GBA when it came out, and I've beaten it in Japanese, but that was when it came out (Mother 3 is getting on a bit, it's gone past quick), so this is almost gonna be a completely new experience since I've forgotten quite a few things. This is gonna be freaking epic.
Streets ahead.

I'll play the game later and whatnot and whatever when I make the time to. I'm sort of busy with several others at current. >>;

I'm damn sure it will be worth every second of my time, cause I enjoyed the other two Mother games.

Multi-Bottle Rockets do wonders, my friend. :jake:

Also, I have three versions of VBA set up and none of them is *quite* right.

-VBA-M: Runs perfectly! Except for sound.
-VBA: Runs a little slow sometimes, but otherwise works.
-VBAGX: On a TV! But the colors are a bit washed out and it runs slower than the other two.

Stupid EZFlash. I knew I should've ordered it earlier. :sadshoe:

I LOVE IT!!

And Nintendo will never have it come out because it is a GBA game. The GBA is dead. Well.....Actually...The DSi may somehow have it but I don't know at all about that.

I believe the first 3 Ace Attorney games were originally GBA games...and guess what...they have been re-released on the DS. :pealshock:

Personally, I'm hoping for Nintendo to do a Mother 1,2 and 3 compilation cart (but I'm not gonna hold my breath, though).

Really? Which form...? Just curious.

....

Glad this is finally out...like someone else mentioned, I wish the N would reconsider releasing all 3 games onto a DS(i) cart or something....maybe if they ever release EB onto the VC, and see how well it does, we could finally get this, and the other two...

I spoiled my self by reading/watching the ending so long ago, but to actually experience it will be great.

Holy crap. This game is amazing.

My only issue is that I can't get the music combos right because of the damn emulator.

I'm seriously considering buying a flashcard just so I can play this on my DS/GBA

Actually, I believe it has something to do with the main villians being transvestites or something. Which means NOA can't give it an 'E for Everyone' rating. Like they want to. :welly:

Besides, since Lucas is in Brawl, there is the possibility that people might want to play Mother 3 to find out more about him, or something. :inspect:

Exactly. It was because of Marth and Roy's popularity in Melee that caused them to bring Fire Emblem to America.

I'm sorry, I can't help but snap each time I see this complaint... Look, I'll use PW as an example. The first game in the series came out in Japan on the GBA, in 2001. The first ENGLISH DS release, was made in 2005. They took this long, because they were translating it, while also working on the other games, and another obvious thing I'll explain in a bit.

Now, jumping back to Mother 3 (Or Earthbound 2 for fans from the west), the game's dialogue is HUGE! Mother 3 is well versed for being the most dramatic of all the Mother games thus far, so the dialogue has to always be spot-on, to bring that point across. This begs a separate question: "Why, then, did someone, or many fans, translate a copy as a ROM and post it on the internet!? Couldn't Nintendo just use more experienced editors to do that!?"

In the words of Benjamin "Yahtzee" Croshaw,

"Short answer: No.
Long answer:
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo." end quote.

Lemme use PW as an example again. It was originally released on the GBA. However, it had to be reformatted for English audiences, on the DS. As such, Mother 3 is ALSO on the GBA!

In order for them to port it here, they are going to make it a DS game, or a Wiiware-based one. The GBA is considered "Old Technology" now, so if they DO bring it here, they would have to do a lot of work on numerous things.

Best example is the battle system (Which apparantly, has developed quite a rift through the sea of fans, parting those who believe it's "A new concept for the series", and those who believe that "This System RUINS Mother!!!"). Personally, I can't take a side, but from what I've read on forums and heard on Youtube, there tends to be a lot more people who hate the new "Combo System" than those who don't...

... Of course, there may be other reasons as well, but in my opinon, these are the most likely. I doubt it's that Nintendo dislikes their western audience... I mean, Lucas was in Brawl, as were other appearances by Mother 3 Characters, so it's kinda obvious that they care enough about the game to give it worldwide recognization, JUUUUUST in case someone was living under a rock, and didnt know Mother 3 was out in Japan.

... but had a Wii under that rock I guess... :yummy:

I find it funny that nintendo knows that there are loads of Mother fans here in the west, yet they'd rather let the game be avaliable as a free ROM, than charge those fans £30 (or whatever DS games retail for in the US/other western countries) for the same experience.

Honestly, those NOA guys are crazier than I thought. :meekins:

Anyway, I'm still hoping for an official release (and EarthBound will be on the VC at some point).

No, there's enough ways to censor that. And by the way, they aren't.

Earthbound sold horribly in the US, was never brought out in Europe because of that reason, and Nintendo though it to be useless to release the sequel, then.

Over here, Wii Games cost less than DS games.

... Yeah, I don't get that either, how they aren't at LEAST equal price...

And Tinker? Sorry to say, but the fanbase for Earthbound, in North America, has been shown to be MASSIVE. Why else would they have obeyed the fans by making Mother 3? (There's an Online Petition that people made, which has MILLIONS of signatures on it, requesting a sequel to Mother 3. There is also another one that was made after Mother 3 was released, requesting a translation).

To assume Mother 2 sold horribly in North America... According to the wikipedia page, the game sold approx. 140,000 copies in North America, and about twice that in the Japan. However, the game has clearly developed an even bigger cult following, as evidenced by the infamous petition, as well as Nintendo Power's own "Most Wanted on VC" list.

Earthbound - Wikipedia Article wrote:
in the July 2008 issue of Nintendo Power, EarthBound was yet again the #1 "Readers' Most Wanted" Virtual Console title, with the original Mother now placed in second.

And one more thing...

Earthbound - Wikipedia Article wrote:
The game has also become a cult classic and possesses substantial fanbases in both Japan and America. As a result, the game regularly appears on readers' choice polls in both countries.

... That's pretty much all I have to say. NOW... When can we discuss this?:

Mother 3 - Wikipedia Article wrote:
According to Shigesato Itoi, the lead designer of the Mother series, there are no plans to create a Mother 4, but he has not completely dismissed the idea.

Well, The game is yet again stealing my soul as it is very fun. And The Combo thing is EASY!!! I got a 16 hit combo after I figured out how to hear the beats. Though...I am having a harder time on bosses then on Earthbound....Maybe it's harder? Or maybe I am not grinding enough...

In Earthbound I skipped bosses because I forgot them....So when I went back...I ownd everything. I can't do that with Mother 3...Maybe thats why...

Yep. you have a boundary in Mother 3. In Earthbound, Not so much. you couldn't go to some areas until you beat a boss but some bosses could be left behind and I found out you would not have much trouble at all with the next area if you missed one or left him alone. Mother 3...You MUST beat these bosses in order. Which makes me a bit sad but the story is great So I forgive it.

Right. Non-Linearity being changed to simple linearity is excusable in certain games, such as this one.

... Then you take something like Star Fox... *shot for going off-topic*

Regardless, if it DOES come to North America, I will definitely buy it ASAP. I loved Earthbound for it's pure Off-The-Wall humour... Mind you, there were a few "I HATE THIS F***!!!" moments in the game...

I know that, but the amount of people who would go out and buy it is still very small - most of these people have already played it; they're massive fans, anyway. Plus, Nintendo still thinks of Mother as a very niche and cult-ish game, not like their now loved Wii Fit and the likes.

Are you kidding me? Wii games are like $50-$60 new. DS games are $30-$40 new. Unless you mean Wii download games, which are like $10-$12.

I was looking at No More Heroes, and TWEWY a little while ago... NMH was $49.99, and TWEWY was $59.99.

And I was at Wal-Mart, looking through glass display cases, G.P., so you don't need to ask if anything there was "Used". :gymshoe:

TWEWY for $60 is an outrageous price. That's outlandish for DS games. Are you sure that was the case?

Oh yes, very much so. I had 55 bucks on me, you see, and I was trying to decide if, when I got there (I was walking from my house to there. A 20 minute walk), I should buy No More Heroes, or The World Ends With You.

Needless to say, when I DID get there, I didn't have to struggle to decide which to pick, since I couldn't even AFFORD TWEWY... and before anyone else claims "How could you remember that if you have a bad memory!?", I found a toonie on the ground while I was walking back home. I ALWAYS remember days when I find money on the ground! :gymshoe:

Hm. Maybe that Wal-Mart was trying to rip off their customers. Or maybe this was just a one-time case. I'm not sure, but usually DS games are less expensive than that.

Yeah, their pricing is really random. I've seen the same copy of "The Bouncer" at the same Wal*Mart for at least 5 years still priced at $50. Then again, I was going to attribute the crazy pricing to his cuuuuurazy Candyland prices and then I noticed you were from Candyland too. Fiddlesticks.

Well, I could always complain, but thus far, I've bought 2/4 Phoenix Wright games from there. JFA and T&T. I got PW:AA off eBay, and AJ was ordered at EB Games (Who ripped me off by not giving me my f***ing KEYCHAIN!!!)

It'd sell crap. That's why it wasn't released in the West in the first place.

Actually, I believe it has something to do with the main villians being transvestites or something. Which means NOA can't give it an 'E for Everyone' rating. Like they want to. :welly:

Actually, I have a N64 game where the main baddie is a transvestite nun...so I don't think they'd be fussed about that.

So far, I'm up to Chapter 3. I love Salsa and Kumatora. ^_^
