Eh, I prefer Texts From FFXIII.

And if that was what Light actually said, I would have zero problems with that scene.

I can confirm: DLC songs totally work in Curtain Call's Quest mode.

I got an Ultimate Difficulty FF5 Battle 2 (one of the free DLC songs) in a long quest the other day. Highly doubt they programmed it into a limited list of songs so I guess this means to me that there must be all the songs there getting randomly selected :kristoph:

Mhm, noticed it recently, too. Got Kuon: Memories of Light/the X-2 Title Screen Theme at one point. And my first Ultimate Score, by complete surprise, was the Town theme from FF II. I think I did a decent job.

You know, much as I love the much larger rooster of characters in Curtain Call, I also hate it to a certain extent. It's cool, you know, I still have characters to unlock - it's just that some of the characters to unlock are other versions of already unlocked characters: like Tifa, Tifa #2 which is her Advent Children appearance, Lightning and Lightning #2, from Lightning Returns.

Especially dumb is these characters seem to count as separate ones to the point that I only get a "Title Character Bonus" with them in certain games. Like, I have Lightning in my party and gain this bonus when I play one of the Final Fantasy XIII songs. But not with XIII-2 and LR, the former where she was still a character that appeared and the latter where she was the damn main character. Vice Versa - only get the bonus if I have LR Lightning in my party when playing LR songs, but not XIII-2 and XIII.

This is so stupid. Hey! You gave me Rikku, with her X-2 appearance. I play a Final Fantasy X song? I get Title Character Bonus from her. A X-2 song? Ditto! Why not keep it at that? Why not code the characters so that if they played major roles in other games, I'll get a bonus from them there, too? And how about, instead of making the rooster THIS big by giving me multiple versions, have the multiple versions unlockable... as outfits! The parameters or abilities won't change*, only the appearance. And I'll get a bonus regardless if I'm playing the game's sequel or the initial game.

* in Yuna's case this MIGHT not work and her X-2 alt appearance might require different abilities, but in technicality, it could still be done

Off-topic but sort of FF related. In Skyrim there are FF Mods and Mt. Gagazet and Ronsos are in a MOD for Skyrim. That is all.....

I just never understood why the Ronsos don't speak with proper grammar. Correct me if I'm wrong, but do Ronsos even have their own native language that isn't English/Japanese? Because if they don't, there's no reason for them to speak in fragmented sentences.

Weeeeeell, considering their writing is something foreign to us and their speech (given the hymn of the fayth) is different, it might be that the Ronsos speak more... a dialect? Maybe? I'm guessing? Far as I recall, the Japanese version just had them speak in 3rd person with decent enough grammar and the Buffy Speak was done for the English version.

Well..and this is wildly speculation here.

They are akin to wolf/bear/tiger/dog creatures roughly, and they never seem to say much. Perhaps like animals they communicate mostly through pheromones and body language or other silent forms of communication?

Therefore it's an effort for them to translate and adopt standard Spiran language?

Check the Focus vision they have. It's identical to what happens in the ending. And it was revealed, yes, Etro was the one who made the party turn out from Crystal Stasis except for Vanilla and Fang. Also, while not EVERYONE died, it is revealed that people did die during Ragnarok's movement. It just wasn't everyone.

We can check it. But they couldn't check it. First of all, memories aren't perfect. Humans naturally try to fill in the gaps themselves. So for all we know, all they remember seeing of the focus is Ragnarok destroying Cocoon. Second, even if they did know Ragnarok was capable of doing something like that, they never even discuss the possibility. All they needed was a brief conversation, something like this except polished:
"So what happens when we kill Orphan?"
"It suddenly stops rotating and quickly falls into Pulse."
"But wait, with Ragnarok, we can form a crystal pillar to keep Cocoon in place."
"So we kill Orphan and crystallize the falling planet. The Fal'Cie will control us no more!"
As far as the audience can tell, Light, Hope, Snow, Sazh, Vanille, and Fang had zero idea that Ragnarok could form a crystal pillar that can hold a planet.

I never said THEY knew that Ragnarok would be able to do it. During the scenes with the final boss, when they turn back from the Cie'th status, they all talk about having seen something where they were all happy, saying that it was "like another Focus". Yes, they used blind faith to just go with it - no idea if it worked or if what they saw was a real Focus or just a dream or whatever, but they still went with it.
And as said, the Focus vision is identical to the ending, just that it doesn't show any part of Ragnarok's many, many arms turning into crystal.

All that means is that the developers knew what ending they were going for. It doesn't mean that they properly showed the path to that ending. If the party has no idea what Ragnarok can do, how the hell did they do it? As far as I remember, Fang and Vanille just up and decide, "let's put Cocoon in crystal stasis. It's not like Ragnarok's powers are limited to destruction." when throughout the entire game, Ragnarok is presented as a force of complete destruction, even by the party members. And even if the sequel adequately explains it, this is the kind of thing that's supposed to be explained in the first installment so the player isn't in raging confusion until the sequel explains it. Oh wow, this is just like Danganronpa's ending, except instead of "hope vs despair," it's the slightly less grating "fate vs free will."

I don't recall the English ending having them talk during the part before they become Ragnarok, all they do is look at each other, hold hands and nod in the Japanese version. Also I recall that Fang didn't seem to have ANY control over her actions when she became Ragnarok during the final boss scenes - I think there's also a mention earlier where she doesn't remember what she did when she became Ragnarok in the War of Transgression. Possible that Ragnarok Transformation take away all your free actions and forces you to do things. So when Vanilla and Fang became the "real", if you wanna call it that, Ragnarok, the Focus part of Ragnarok's role just went on automatic.

As for Fate VS Free Will, the XIII series liked doing that. XIII is about fighting fate, XIII-2 ends in a way that makes you think, well, even if the party DID avoid their fate in XIII, this time around, it doesn't matter WHAT you do, the game will end with Etro dying in some way or form and Chaos taking over the entire world. So we could say that XIII defies fate while XIII-2 proves that you CAN'T escape it. And LR rounds it up by flat out defying it by stopping a god from screwing with humanity once and for all.

OmG. I'm at the end of Chapter 10, JUST watching the scene before fighting Bahamut. And quite honestly, I do not blame Fang for snapping. Snow comes up and all "I'm back to my annoying optimism, baby! WHO'S WITH ME?" and everything's so happy-go-lucky optimistic-gruaaaahhh! Oh, come on, Anthony, you can do better than that. Surely those characters have something interestingly unique about them aside from their physical assets.

Tifa is annoying. Rinoa... WORST. FEMALE. FF. CHARACTER. TO DATE. (For me) God, she can't do ANYTHING on her own. Oh yeah I'm a random stranger and I'll walk up to the sorceress and get her to wear a magic-nullifying bracelet. GREAT IDEA, RINOA! Also, her romance with Squall is the most unbelieveable crap I've encountered before Twilight or 50 Shades. (I feel dirty even suggesting that Twilight has a better love story than SquallxRinoa) And Garnet... princess. Wants to be free - hey, Square, taking a few hints from Disney. :ron:

This discussion, the only thing full of Justice Tifa would have for you Anthony are her fists.

I didn't mind Tifa, Garnet I found kinda dull but mostly I was annoyed as I thought "Dagger" would just be a temporary name at the time. Plus she was a mage and I didn't like using them unless absolutely necessary.

I liked Garnet. Yeah, she was cliche, but her budding romance with Zidane was a lot more interesting to me than Cloud x Tifa and especially Squall x Rinoa. The fact that romance wasn't the main focal point like it was in FF8 made it a lot better too, especially since it didn't suck. Besides, I found Garnet to be one of the better party members. White Magic aside, get her with the right set up and those summons will wreck anything that's put out in front of it. She ends up WAY better than Eiko in any case.

Then again, I'm partial to 9. After playing mediocre 7 and getting dreadfully bored with 8, the light-heartedness of FF9 was a welcome treat. Zidane was a fun protagonist for me, he didn't brood, and he was interesting. Heck, aside from the half-baked plots centered around Amarant and Freya, I found the game to have one of the better plots, heck, one of the better villains in the series. Yeah, I can make fun of Kuja's outfit all I want, but he was legitimately threatening and I was motivated to want to go kick his butt. Usually, the most threatening villains I find nowadays in RPGs tend to stream among the lines of just being mean, but now insanely evil. It's gotta be about saving the world.

I love Lightning. And this sort of stuff just makes me like her more. (Take that, Alyssa!)

Am I the only person who thinks Light acted just fine? If my younger sister suddenly told me "I am now a Pulse l'Cie, although nothing of Pulse's has been active for centuries on Cocoon... also, I'm marrying my boyfriend, who you totally hate." Of course Light would think that the former was just a pretty stupid lie to make the latter seem like "less worse" news... heck, maybe Sera's plan was to piss Light off so much that she'd say "Get out!" and she'd take that as permission to elope with Snow.

"Serah, we need to talk." That's all Light needed to say, as any older sibling who actually cared would. Everyone on Cocoon knows that a Pulse l'Cie is the one thing that the mindless masses fear the most. They all know that if a Pulse l'Cie was discovered, that person would be hunted down until their demise. Which Light would know Serah risks just by telling her. Maybe I'm just biased due to having to put up with an emotionally abusive older sibling for fifteen years, but Light just came off as uncaring.

I'm trying to remember Rosa's dialogue... well, I recall her forcing Lydia to learn/use Fire, not knowing (or seeming to care) that she had good reason to hate Fire... um... also her sneaking onto the ship to the moon cause... Cecil suddenly was a mysogynistic ass and told them to stay away from the fighting, when they had done a ton of fighting earlier... I remember her whining that Cecil "isn't the Cecil she fell in love with" when she visited him at night in his room... but... I don't recall her being very vocal against Baron...

Finding Cecil after he was supposedly dead after the earthquake was only half her reason for looking for him. The other half was to inform him of Golbez and his plan (and I concede Cecil already knew that). When they meet Yang, Rosa speaks of her own will against Baron. She's also the most powerful white mage on the planet by the end of the game, but gameplay and story segregation, I suppose. I'm not saying Rosa is a great character, or even a good character, I just hate it when people say Rosa's entire character is defined by her relationship with Cecil.
And yes, Cecil suddenly turning into a misogynistic ass is probably the worst scene in the game. Especially considering that the scene could have been removed with absolutely no major change to anything that happened.

Like I already said: Light's denial and mistrust towards her sister is understandable. Not just cause Sera's l'Cie thing sounded like the worst kind of stupid lie (it's like if I said I was late to work cause a reincarnation of Jack The Ripper had been following me and I had to shake him off before signing a marriage license at the courthouse), the two had already been somewhat alienated from each other ever since their parents died and Light shed Eclair and became Lightning.

As for Rosa, well, I did an LP and the text probably just didn't leave a big impression on me. I could quote various other FF games, but the IV one, nah, not really. I can barely remember any text.

I'll admit when I played ff4 I felt Rosa kinda didn't do much except get kidnapped either...I think she's just swamped with more interesting characters in that game its easy to overlook her.
