I've played Contact. I here that it's a lot like Mother/Earthbound. You're a kid (or at least in Contact, you're a disembodied being that guides the kid) helping an old man repair his ship.

I like Contact and it made me wanna try Earthbound. Still haven't played it, though... :(

I don't know about Contact, but Earthbound/Mother is about kids with psychological powers and they use it to stop evil. I'll give this Contact a try later.

Ah Mother 3 my top favorite game ever!
It is truly a masterpiece. What games have you played that can really make you cry. The game also has the best video game character in it as well: Porky!

When I was a kid, I had an SNES. Of the "Great RPGs" of the time, I only ever owned Earthbound.

I think this explains a lot about me.

I played Earthbound some time ago. I didn't beat it, but I thought it was a great game.
I'm definitely going to play Mother 3 some day. I hope it's as good as everyone says!

I've played Earthbound and Mother 3. Honestly, I couldn't get into them at all. I didn't really understand the appeal.

As a game, Earthbound is quite lacking. It's no more interactive than Final Fantasy. What makes the game so magical is the atmosphere and dialogue. Mother 3 added a little gameplay to the battles by utilizing timed hits and the such.

I love both those games, but Earthbound is quite rare now and Mother 3 can only be played in English with a translation patch. The patch is quite good though, so that's understandable, but Nintendo should totally release an official translated version; I guarantee it'll sell better than a lot of their current titles.

MOTHER 3 is my favourite game of all time. I absolutely adored it with all my heart. If only my save file didn't delete itself when I got to the final dungeon. Also, sorry Papes, but quite good doesn't cover the fan translation. I honestly would say they did a damn good job.

Not played much of EarthBound though.
