Fun fact: A Link Between Worlds may or may not indirectly confirm a Link/Zelda paring in A Link to the Past. I say "may not" simply because the source might not be entirely trustworthy, but it's interesting nonetheless.

Spoiler: If you want to find out who said what and what who said...
Dialogue tree belongs to Rumor Guy (yes, that's his name)

[Princess Zelda.]
Oh, that princess... She's quite an interesting one, let me tell you. You wanna hear something juicy? When we reach a certain age, even the princess comes to a point where she has love on her mind, right...?

[Of course!]
OK, WELL... You didn't hear it from me, but every night the princess goes on a little excursion inside the castle. Her maids say that she's secretly meeting someone. Apparently, she's not very good at the "secretly" part. So, one night, someone gave in to the delicious temptation of curiosity and decided to follow the princess... And guess what happened!

[What happened?]
The princess stopped in front of a large painting on display in the center of the castle. And she stood there just staring up at the painting for 10 minutes. And then went back to her room. Just like that! So when the person following her went to inspect the painting... You'll never guess what happened! That painting...?

[What?]
This painting was of a hero and princess from several generations ago cuddling in one another's arms... This person following her--it wasn't me, I swear--continued to follow her every night! Creepy. And it was the same thing every time! Princess Zelda would just stare at the picture night after night... Not a very exciting end, I suppose. Maybe that's not so juicy after all. Oh well. They can't all be overripe fruit! The painting brought out a look of such admiration that had never been seen before in the princess. Now you've heard it. Go on, now. That gossip ain't gonna spread itself!"

Huh. I'm not very far in A Link Between Worlds (blame Omega Ruby), but would you mind telling me where you can get that conversation?

On a completely different subject, am I the only one who thinks that WW Ganon has put on a few pounds since Ocarina of Time?

Hmm it doesn't seem like it makes him a good character, more like Nintendo was trying too hard to over sexualize him

The fanart is the one that really oversexualizes him. In-game, he certainly DOES talk about the red string of fate tying him and Link together, but he isn't oversexualized. I've said it before, I enjoy Ghirahim because he's intimidating, but also goofy at the same time. Can't tell when exactly he'll switch moods, which keeps me on my toes.

Honestly he doesn't feel all that intimidating as you make him out to be. I feel like when he gets serious during fights it feels more like he is still being a goofy character. Can't take him serious either when he keeps doing that tongue action every time :yogi:

Maybe it's the instable-insanity aspect that he has for me. Being insane, you don't quite know when he gets angry and his fetish for causing other people pain is certainly creepy. (Unless you are like him or I, in which case you can see the allure and the power it gives you, the titilating sensation of causing someone pain, with their suffering in your hand~ :pearl-blush: )

You do realize that they've had to redo boss strategies in multiple Zelda games, right?

It wasn't as clear as the 2nd boss battle in the earth temple.

I'm pretty sure King Dodongo in OoT was not the first enemy or boss to be defeated by using bombs or by getting them to eat bombs. Just look at Zelda games alone and count the times you defeated a boss who has the gimmick of two hands that need to be defeated before you can damage the main part.

Which was rehashed from the Dodongos in Legend of Zelda? Usually if it opens its mouth, throw a bomb. If it has a big eye, use an arrow. Really not the first time Zelda has rehashed strategies in the series.

I will say though, the fourth boss in Skyward Sword was probably my favorite. Koloktos or whatever his name was.

It was this one that felt exactly like I was fighting a mix of Dodongo and the 1st boss in OoT inside the Great Duke Tree

Yeah. To my knowledge though, it's not the first time the series has recycled bosses or gimmicks. Off the top of my head, Wind Waker's boss fight in the Tower of the Gods was a rehash of Bongo Bongo. Majora's Mask had Eyegore, which was a very similar fight to a boss in Link to the Past. Heck, Gohma and Dodongo from Legend of Zelda are practically reused from the first game in Ocarina of Time, with just some 3-D gimmicks.

It's really never bothered me when they do this kind of stuff if they can at least make it enjoyable for me, and so far, the rehashes that I've seen have at least been entertaining enough, even the boss fight from Skyward Sword that you're mentioning. Then again, I did like the idea of Bomb "bowling". Granted, not the most creative boss fight in the game, but at least it wasn't bad.

Now if you want to talk about bad rehashing in Skyward Sword, I really got upset at the fact that there's practically two fire temples in the game. With how creative they were with making both temples in the forest (and even the desert to an extent) vastly different, it really felt underwhelming how both temples in the volcano region felt very similar. I was hoping that they could have at least spiced it up like they did with the other regions.

Well technically we can say that the two Faron Temples were Forest and Water respectively. (And I have to say I absolutely LOVE the Ancient Cistern! One of my favorite parts in the game!) As for the Earth and Fire temple, eh, I overall felt that they were different enough in how you proceed to not feel like complete rehashes. Though I admit I dislike the Fire temple because I go underground a lot... I'm claustrophobic, so seeing that always makes me feel a bit queasy.

I loved the Ancient Cistern too. I really hope the new Zelda takes more risks to have more creative dungeons like that one was, instead of wanting to play it safe, keeping just elemental dungeons ala Ocarina of Time. Granted, OoT was the first to do this, but still... going out of the box every once in a while helps. It's why I enjoyed Stone Tower's gravity gimmick and the Yeti house in Twilight Princess. While Skyward Sword was okay for me, Ancient Cistern was definitely a big highlight for me. The fact that the boss was fun as well helped it out.

I did like the Pirate ship a bit as well, though the boss of that one was just kinda there for me. I don't know if it was just because his design looked out of place for me or what. To me, it seemed like his design would have been better suited for Wind Waker or Mario.

I think the other thing I really didn't like about getting to the Fire Temple was all the prep work to get up to it. While I didn't mind the stealth part so much, I'm really not a fan of escort missions, and escorting a character I'm really not fond of while traversing pretty much the whole mountain did not make it any better. Scrapper was his name? Didn't really like him much.

Really enjoying the mining temple in Skyward Sword. Liking the whole concept on being able to bring back stopped time and using it to maneuver through most of the dungeon.

Good for you. I personally hate that dungeon. I'm basically wandering around the southern half of the dungeon in circles, just so I can do one long run across the north room... by following a pain-in-the-ass slow minecart. And I felt like that dungeon just took too long... fortunately, it does make up for it by having a neat scene after the dungeon and some nice, shorter proceedings after.
Unfortunately it also brings the first Imprisoned battle.

Quote:

I don't think a whole lot of people did. I personally didn't mind the Escort Mission much - sure, I felt it was a dumb thing to do, but I liked it because I could snipe majority of dangers away with my bow! Reminded me a bit of the shoot-out in Twilight Princess' Hidden Village. Only really bothered me at the very end, when you have to fight the two Lizalfos and Scrapper The Idiot decides to join me in the midst of battle when he can't do anything...
But other than that, it wasn't too terrible.

I do hope there will be more dungeons designed like the Ancient Cistern. Not necessarily with the mechanics, but the design. It was gorgeous! So serene and beautiful - yeah the bottom was disgusting, but fortunately I found a video showing a small trick that means I can skip majority of the basement. And the music...

The Yeti Mansion in Twilight Princess was good, too. I didn't like the ice-block puzzle, I hate block puzzles overall, but the idea was nice. A bit annoying that she kept sending me to places where they simply stored food, but other than that, it was a pretty cool dungeon.

I disagree. I found the sailing around boring and the fact that I was FORCED to sail around for plot reasons - ie the Triforce hunt - more than the mandatory islands, was worse. I found it boring, I set myself into a direction and could proceed to leave the room and cook until I finally arrived. (At least I have to pay somewhat attention when flying in Skyward - and the sky is so small that I can reach every location in less than 3 Minutes)

The world was too large and I dislike it when I am forced to check something out. If I WANT to check something out, like see if there's a treasure chest, I'll gladly do that. But I don't want to be forced to sail all over creation. I looked around in Twilight Princess cause I liked the environment, but I didn't check everything out - so I know there are a lot of caves that I didn't find, but that was also a problem with Hyrule Field. It was large, but it looked empty, so aside from very little looking around, I decided to not do that.

Oops. I accidentally PM'ed you this message. I'm kinda new to this...

But anyway, not anyone can have the same opinion, but I thought the sailing was actually quite soothing. There was plenty to look at, tons to explore, and the music was epic. Also, sailing through the unknown was pretty mystifying. I suppose this opinion was influenced by the mind-blowing it caused in my head after all those years of primarily playing the admittedly linear Sonic franchise. Also, it WAS my first Zelda game, and I was seven years old, but I digress.

That being said, I can tell you lack the patience and determination of a completionist, something needed to properly enjoy the Legend of Zelda games.

So... which one is your favorite, then?

(Please don't say Ocarina of Time....................................)

I'll copy my answer here, too.

Maybe it's cause I'm a homebody, then, because I do not see much of an appeal going to places. And, honestly, the music for sailing started to bug me the longer I had to listen to it while going around.

I have no idea why people call Ocarina a masterpiece, anyway. It's basically 3D graphics on Link to the Past. Go here, find 3 things, obtain Master Sword, find more things, final dungeon.

Though I cannot say I like Majora a whole lot, either. All the NPCs seem idiots (ESPECIALLY Kafei and Anju) with generally problems that can easily be solved on their own, the graphics were not all that improved, the story was annoying and Skull Kid is a terrible villain. I will admit that some of the dungeons have nice ideas to them, but the fact that there are so little of them is off-putting. And Majora is a weird final boss fight, but not in a good way.

Quote:

It's a tough fight between Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword. I like the designs and graphics, the sidekicks, dungeon mechanics and everything, though the problem is where one of them fails, the other improves heavily. A few examples...
+ Twilight Princess' Zelda is kinda cool
- Skyward Zelda is the worst incarnation I have seen to date
+ Skyward has an awesome villain in Ghirahim
- Twilight Princess has Zant and he's terrible
-/- Both have shit final bosses in Demise and Ganondorf, where both feel shoved in at the last minute
-/- Neither of the plots are that good
+/+ I love Fi and Midna
+/+ I love the dungeons, especially the Ancient Cistern in Skyward and the Arbiter's Ground in Twilight Princess
-/- The games are terrible in making me care about an NPC before being told I have to go rescue them (Skyward Zelda and TP's Ilia and kids, though I could say I would be inclined to help Colin)

Considering the Heart itself is listed as obtainable on the Legend/Free Mode section itself, it is there. And I got a Heart for Lana in Faron Woods recently. Some I got via Adventure Mode... I've been trying to complete one Adventure part where I have to defeat enemies as Fi and I always die to the big Imprisoned. (Bad enough that guy pissed me off in Skyward, now he appears HERE, too?) Well, not die... eventually run out of ways of healing. I can't seem to get a 150 Attack weapon for Fi...

Oh hell Imprisoned is horrible in that game.
Here's some tips as far as I cab figure.
At decent damage one special attack from fi in the middle will break all his toes.
You can only ever drop him to half of the weakpoint gauge before he gets up.
Defence is way more important than attack. If you aren't using special attacks to bring him down I wouldn't risk using charge attacks at all.

Additionally:
If you lose roughly 8 hearts you lose the a rank.
Most missions need to be beat in 15 minutes for a rank.
Where kill counts matter on the big battle maps you need 2000 to get the A rank.

From what I read I can have a total of 4.000 Damage (roughly 10 Hearts) before I lose A Rank on that. And 1.200 KOs are enough for most maps to get A rank, unless the goal is "(Number) Kills in (Time) Minutes" or so.

Also, I caved and bought the Twilight Princess DLC pack. I would've been fine with just the Twilight Map and Twili Midna, basically just fine without Postman Link (WTF) and Ilia... freaking ILIA? You know, I don't use the Ilia costume for the same reason I don't use the Skyward costume for Zelda either because... it would piss me off. Just make me wonder why this character never did something like that in the original game.

Yeah me thinks your estimates are right, my memory is fuzzy. Think the variables change slightly for special missions (like ones that last no longer than 10 minutes).

The Twilight stuff is nice, Twili Midna is actually awesome and Postman Link is the only costume to go for :basil:
