What an odd premise of a game. I saw a review of it and they gave it an 8 or something, so I might give this a go.
Play the text adventure where you control the action, like this user:
At any rate, this situation keeps getting weirder all the time. What will you do now?

yeah count me out for buying this game. Besides the fact i need all the money i can for brave story, megaman star force, .hack//g.u. 3, and eternal sonata i honestly couldnt afford to buy this game nor would i want it. It doesnt look that promising to me. Im a huge battle music junkie and from what i heard i couldnt play this game for 10 minutes with its battle music. I only liked persona 2 because it was diffrent and yeah. Just this game doesnt look amazing to me at all.

I've got this on preorder. I need a new RPG franchise to try, and I've only seen positive (p)reviews about this game.

I've never even heard of this game series nor have I ever played any of the previous games, so I guess I can pick up a copy of this game with certainty. I should be safe as long as I don't play any of the previous titles.

So, did any of the people who pre-order it actually pick it up? I wonder if this topic just got forgotten, or no one actually bought it.

I hope you all did--if only so that it raises whatever slim hope there is of FES coming out here. I don't care if you buy it and sit on it, just buy it.

Also, game is fun (shut up Zu go away), but I haven't had a lot of time to sit down with it.

Well since I work for Gamestop a retailer that sells games, I can say that 95% of people who pre-ordered persona 3 picked it up. And with each nee shipment of them we sell out... so sales are moderate... I've yet to buy my copy cuz I'm always broke, but my friend is letting me borrow it and so far I love it.

I have the game (box set and stuff and that cool little character art book) but I haven't had time to play it at all (along with dozens of other PS2 games I've recently bought. Oh the drama of it all, and classes begin in a matter of days.). All I need is a standard-sized TV with AV cable outlets...

BTW, university dorms don't come furnished with TVs bastards. =(

I am sorry about that.

^_^ I think I might of overspend on my debit card thanks to this game. Oh well, it was worth it though. Come Friday and I can get it back in a positive balance. <_<;

Well seeing as this thread hasnt been touched in ages, I thought of reviving it. I had a change of heart. True im not going to buy persona 3, but instead im going to buy Persona 3 fes. I dunno, I guess the things i hated about it grew over me and now i actually want to play it. So just for the record I havent liked any of Megaten game. Ive played Nocturne, and soulless army. ( Thought soulless army was a little boring and same with nocturne) But for some reason this game has me intreseted. So is persona 3 good? Did it live out to your wants?

Good move, waiting for FES. All original content + more content, more open-ended gameplay, 30 extra hours of play, and new Personas = very yes. The original was fantastic! I'm sure you won't regret playing FES.

It really grew on me. Like, in the most it could possibly grow. I hated it to begin with. Started out as "wow this is really mediocre shit," but I am now holding a fully payed pre-order for FES with incredible glee, being totally ready and into the thought of my second playthrough. I love everything about it. :/

but yeah. One of my biggest fandoms (with the exception of PW...). If anyone needs any Ken pics, I have them in abundance.

To anyone who's on the fence about buying P3: wait for FES, then BUY IT. It has some issues, but you won't regret getting it.

Was there someone who actually said something bad about P3? BLASPHEMY. Persona 3 is fucking incredible (Not perfect; not quite as many hanging-around-doing-typical-fun-teenage-shit-after-school options as I would have liked. But still fucking incredible.)

I have the original and I've got FES on pre-order. Everything Atlus R&D1 touches turns to gold (even if Kazuma Kaneko didn't do the char designs for P3).

"Let's kick some ass." Yeah, Shinjiro is badass.

What pretty much launched me into the game was the first Shadow boss fight (the one on the train). The whole time I was going, "Holy shit! Die die die! Gotta stop the train! OH MY GOD IT'S GONNA CRASH! AAAAAAAAAAHHH!!! ...Whoa! The main character stopped it. That's hardcore and so is this game! :D"

The third Shadow boss was still cooler, though.

The battle with Fortune and...Justice (I think?) was awesome.

"Life is gone with just a spin of the wheel" as Chris Cornell might say.

And the final battle...well, epic is pretty much the only word I can use to describe it.

That battle was sick too. I nearly laughed out loud from hearing Fuuka say, "What?! That's cheating!"

That was just one of many highlights of the game for me:

-Hot springs mini-game
-Every Shadow battle, except for the Hermit
-Interactive dating system
-That huge-as-all-hell plot twist after killing the final Shadow boss
Spoiler: MEGA SPOILERS
Ikutsuki is such a bat rastard!

-Operation Babe Hunt

And last, but certainly not least:

-Final battle

I heart this game so much. Also, $30 for FES? Yes please! :edgy:

Persona 3, like Devil Summoner PS2 and Persona 2 had been years ago on the Playstation, is actually one of the easier to find Megaten games currently out. As far as I'm aware, you can get it everywhere, and I'm sure FES will be the same.

Yeah, P3 is still pretty easy to find. I don't know about the rarity of DDS1 and 2, and I know that Nocturne is HELLA rare now, which is why I am unbelievably glad I actually put up the cash to get it when it first came out...

I only have three games. Persona 2, Persona 3, and Devil Summoner RK V SA

Edit now I have 6. I just purchase Nocturne, Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2.

Persona 4

A trailer of the game.

No evokers this time. It seems evokers were really only exclusive to Persona 3. (not even the anime that takes place 10 years later in the same universe had evokers)

No evokers? Good thing. I don't believe a game as brilliant as Persona 3 should have its mechanics rehashed to death. The evokers make Persona 3 that much more unique, and it would be a shame to see that uniqueness go to waste.

The kotaku article alone has me psyched for Persona 4. Good thing I bought a PS2! :edgy:
