So...... I've recently become interested in this series. (Mostly Megaman Legends, Mega Man ZX ( I think), Rockman.EXE, and Ryuusei no Rockman.) And if anyone could tell right away, then they'd see that RnR's what I've based my new username on, BUT ANYWAY.

I know that there's been a few (most-likely dead) threads on a few of the Megaman games, but this is for all of the games, and I just want to see if there's any more fans out there in Court Records that aren't completely bogged down in stories about our favorite blue-suited spiky-haired attorney and his mystical sidekick.

So, is there anyone out there?

Personally, I've never even beaten a single Mega Man game that is not Battle Network, and my best friend, who is a gigantic Mega Man fan, told me that I'm missing out on a lot. I've played some MM titles for a while, like MM1, MM2, MM3, then jumped to MM9, played a couple of Mega Man X games for PlayStation, but never got to beat any of them, as much as I would like to. But my friend, who has beaten every title he could (MM1 to 8, Mega Man Legends and MML2, some Mega Man X games, some Battle Network, trying to avoid Star Force), says that you don't really know what Mega Man can offer until you've played the classic games. Specially, the first 4 games.

Truly, Capcom's Mario.

All true. Even though most of the other MM titles are quite good, It's the NES titles, especially 2 through 4, in my opinion, that made the series what it is. Mega Man 3, I believe, was one of the first games I'd ever played, so the series has always had a place in my mind.

I kinda feel bad for coming into the fandom late (wasn't until reading about Legends that I got interested in it.) as compared to you two. I will say this, though: I do respect the NES Mega Man games more than the recent ones, but the Legends, Battle Network, and Star Force games were the ones that caught my eye more than the classics. This may be because those game gave Mega Man more of a "human" feel to him (even though in Battle Network he was a Navi in the Internet or something, and in Star Force he was a EM Wave Human.)

Here's what I'm not getting; Why does everyone seem to not like the Star Force series? (Sure, Mega Man's not a type of robot in any form, but dammit, he's still Mega Man (and he's one of my favorites, next to Volnutt and the ZX versions...... and Rockman.EXE.))

I'm still holding out hope that "Mega Man Universe" and "Mega Man Online" aren't the same thing. I dunno why, but a Megaman MMO just doesn't sit well with me. that and I'm still hoping for a massive crossover game

Star Force gets a lot of flak because its battle system was in many ways a step down from Battle Network, and Star Force 2 is by and large loathed due to its insanely high encounter rate and painfully bad story. The third game is great, but is usually considered too little too late.

I've heard about the "Universe" and "Online" things, but it's not something for me to look out for until I get more info on it.

But isn't Star Force technically in the same timeline as Battle Network, therefore pretty much going to have the same elements in it? Sure, the battle systems are nearly the same, but damn, don't diss a game because of it, but at least Geo's not as freakin' happy-go-lucky as Lan, because I don't always like when a character's always happy and smiling like the average kid that's gonna save the world.

(But someone seriously needs to shoot Luna. I don't like her at all.)

Fuck Geo. Fuck Luna. Fuck Brothers. Fuck EM waves. Fuck Star Force. Just finished SF3 today.
Lan is the best. Navis are better. Not being a secret is cool. Everyone has navis, but only Lan is good enough to do anything. Fucking AWESOME.

Also, for timeline's sake
MegaMan (NES) were originally 200X (fuck... where was I when it happened?)
MMBN was 20XX (Hopefully I live to 2100 to see that shit happen)
MMSF was 22XX I believe (at the very minimum, 21XX, as Omega-Xis references 21XX as being "a long time ago" in SF3)

Shiiiiiit I love MegaMan so much. The best part about the BN series was just the fact that it was the old NES bosses as .EXE navis. Fuckin' sweet. I was pumped to see my favorite MM2 and MM3 bosses in BN2.

...So glad I found this topic.

Damn..... Something tells me you'd enjoy cosplaying as Lan or the .EXE version of Mega Man. But then again, maybe not.
I don't know your opinions on cosplaying and bodysuits. XD (And be happy I made the topic today.)

The ZX series looks pretty good, and I love the Legends series. Which means now I'm sad 'cuz I don't have the ability to play any of the Mega Man games. *DAMNIT-HEADBANG*

Er... I kinda dressed up as 8-bit-style Mega Man for Halloween last year. *SIDEBAR* This year, my friend's dressing up as Red from G/S/C/HG/SS, and my friends are all dressing up as his pokemon. (I'm Pikachu!)

Also tho, I like the NES Mega Man games the most, although you'll probably hear me talk about the BN series a LOT more. There's nothing left to say on the NES ones. Everyone knows theyre awesome. Everyone needs to know BN is awesome too ):

Oh really? I've been debating a Lan or BN ver. Mega Man cosplay for a few weeks. (Because Lan would be easier to make than Geo, but dammit, I like to challenge myself. That, and I'm kinda unable to cosplay guys at a passable level.) (It's not posted on CosplayLab or Cosplay.com, is it?) But I do think that more people should like the BN series more. (I used to not like it, actually, but it was based on the hate of someone else stupid reasons, so I watch some of the anime, and now I like it *way* more than the person who made me hate it in the first place.)

I'd like to play the actual BN games, though, but I can't afford the money for them, plus the only way I can play them is kinda broken right now. And I can't use emulators now because I can't download them onto the home computer. (Basically, I'm a poor little American girl with no money. :sadshoe: )

If I didn't play the BN games every second of my life, I'd send all of them to you for you to experience what may be the BEST GBA SERIES that I can think of right now. Sorry. It's just that awesome. Go rob a bank or something?

Hahaha NO BANK-ROBBING. I'm getting a job this summer, though, so if my money's not all spent on peach rings, Sunkists, Fantas, and cosplay, then I might have enough money to slowly get them one by one from GameStop. But if it's a GBA series then all I need are the games and a working GBA SP charger.

Well you should be good. If you can find them, they cost like $15 MAXIMUM at GameStop. At least they do around here. I hope you get them. They Rock! Hahaha... get it?

Yes, I get it. XD But I'd have to go to the next biggest town to even get a chance to look for them. I live in an itty-bitty town in the southwest TX Panhandle thingy (go find a map) and the biggest town nearby is in Potter County. But even if I don't get them now, I'll try and get them while I'm in college.

Cool. Maybe you'll be like me and play them during your lectures. Bring a laptop to the session... Open up a nice emulator... and uhh... well, "TAKE NOTES."

In your case, a GBA SP.

Maybe I will be like you and do that. Funny thing is, if I have enough money for it, I may just buy my school laptop when it's my graduating year and get the emulator on there. (And if it's a math lecture, then fuck notes, I'm not gonna be a math major anyway. XD)

I also find it funny how I'm choosing to do a lot of Star Force and Battle Network cosplays, yet there's not a single cosplay from the Legends series, save for Tron Bonne. *is too scared to try and cosplay Volnutt XD*

Zero Collection is about to be something none of you should miss out on. ZX was fun, but I personally thought it was disappointing if you consider it a follow-up to the Zero series. Story-wise AND Gameplay wise, the Zero series was definitely the rawest of them all. There's just an epicness about it that can't be matched with most 2D action games.

Megaman 3 was one of the first games I remember as a kid, so it's definitely got some nostalgic value for me. I personally think it's the best out of the classic series, or at least the NES games. Megaman and Bass is easily one of the most amazing experiences on GBA (or Super Famicom), though.

Megaman Battle Network brings back so many memories! Me and a couple of my neighbors would buy different versions of them, starting with 3. Honestly, it's so easy to get hooked on this game once you start developing a sick folder. I had combos in 5 that did somewhere around 1800 damage, if I remember properly. Just a nice feeling. Unfortunately though, 3 got reset when I (stupidly) attempted to use an action replay, 4 just stopped working completely, and 5 got reset when I was almost finished S ranking the dark navis... I was so mad considering I had put over 99 hours into all of those. 6 is still alive though, but the US version was way too easy to beat 100 percent.

Similarly, Starforce 3 got me hooked in the same way. I can't say I like it better than BN, but the third was definitely an entertaining one even considering my neighbors didn't hop on the Starforce move (even I didn't until 3).

Starforce, X and Legends are the only series I haven't really gotten into in full.

I'd recommend getting them if you have the chance(And the money), but because they're straight ports of the originals, there is a lot of flicker(MM2) or slowdown(MM3), if there are a lot of enemies on the screen. (I don't know about 1 or 4)

Yes, yes they are. MegaMan Powered Up on PSP was changed to 20XX too, obviously because we're no where near then. However, the original MegaMan games, 1-6 were all definitely 200X. Obviously they couldn't predict this in the 80s... Still, it's a common joke my friends and I all make.

(Just a heads up, my time on here's gonna be a bit choppy because my home computer crashed, so I'm using my grandmother's computer right now, and I can't be over here every day, so just keep that eye out. I'm not dead, I've just been unconscious since May 24. :D But DANG, my track on this thread's gonna die...)

Same here, when I first played X I was like who is Zero and who is Sigma.

Shoot me for saying this, but I kinda thought that Zero was wearing tighty-whiteys when I first saw his character designs in the X series. (Same with X himself, only he looks like he's just wearing blue undies.)

I'd recommend getting them if you have the chance(And the money), but because they're straight ports of the originals, there is a lot of flicker(MM2) or slowdown(MM3), if there are a lot of enemies on the screen. (I don't know about 1 or 4)

Hmm... Maybe when I get my school laptop back, I'll download an emulator for them and play them. Just like Battle Network~!

Now, as I type this, there's a city-wide garage sale going on tomorrow, so I'll see if I can find some Legends, ZX, Battle Network or Star Force games, and maybe even a good Nintendo DS (ha!) or a working GBA SP charger for my brother's SP.

(Oh, and can PlayStation games play on PS2s?)

So, they announced a Megaman X MMO, though it seems to be limited to Korea for the moment. This could be interesting.

Yep, though you'll need a PS1 memory card to save.

It could be interesting, if it gets to America without shutting down for some god-forsaken reason.

I see~. Someone had already said that PS1 games can be played on PS2s, but I didn't know you needed the PS1 memory card for it. Another reason why they need to port Megaman Legends to PS2. (Or Wii, if they could.)

Hm... it's been awhile, but the last good Megaman I can remember playing is Rockman Zero in Japanese. *is waiting for the Zero Collection to come out so she can buy it*

(Oh no... Don't tell me my thread died while I was gone~...)

Well, the garage sale's come and gone, and I saw no games or Nintendo DSs, buuut, last week I went up north with my dad and brother for one of his doc appointments, and I got Tatsunoko VS. Capcom, so now I have some worth-while connection to the Mega Man series since Megaman Volnutt, Roll, and Zero are in it, plus Frank West and his Mega Buster Hyper Combo.

I have beaten MM2 on hard mode, and MM10 on easy (just for the achievments) and I've played MMX before, but completely suck

This is the debut trailer for Mega Man Universe.

Thoughts?

Well it certainly looks... interesting. I wish some gameplay was shown.

Uh............. :| Well.........

I give up. I can't really make heard or tails of it since Ryu and Arthur were in it. (But I liked 8-bit Mega Man, for some reason.

There was a article about it on either The Cyber Network or Rockman Perfect Memories, but I'm too lazy to see which site it was.

I've never played MMX before, but I heard it got pretty bland/boring after a while.

Mmhmm.

Back to Mega Man; I wish Capcom would make a damn 3rd Legends game. (SQUEAKER HATE CLIFFHANGERS!!! *ragey-spazz*) Speaking of Legends, would anyone happen to know whether Volnutt's a human or a robot or whatever the f*duck he might be?
