Who remembers this little gem from the Sega Genesis? Easily one of the best retro games out there alongside the 1st party Nintendo games. Awesome graphics, music, gameplay from its time, and one of the most deserving of a Virtual Console release right now.

DISCUSS.

Oh, and one of the old tracks for you all: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2017lo0jLw&fmt=18

(Keep the &fmt=18 - it sounds a lot better that way.)

Remember it? I freakin' OWNED the game AND LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT!!!!
Seriously, though, Sparkster's probably the only anthromorphic video game character that:
-Wasn't related to the Sonic series
-DIDN'T SUCK (Bubsy, Acro, etc. fell in this spot)
Even though he hasn't appeared in his own game since his "sequels" (even though they had the same name, the SNES and GEN versions of RKA sequel Sparkster were completely different), he has made several cameo appearances in Konami games, his most recent being that new Track & Field game for the DS (he's a secret character along with other Konami characters, including SH's Pyramid Head).
Sparkster and the RKA series needs to be revived, and now could be a good time....

BTW, I always enjoyed this track from the first game, especially when Axel Gear is trying to gun you down with a giant laser cannon:

Here's hoping we see this game on the Virtual Console!

Didn't play the Megadrive/Genesis versions much (didn't own the machine) but I played Sparkster on the SNES to death. Think I almost managed to beat it on the hardest difficulty level as well...

Mayhem: Grab it. Seriously. It's one of the most original games ever created, even by today's standards, and stands as an awesome platformer.

And EliteGamerX, I loved Stage 6. Though it had the cheapest boss in the game.

Man, I hope Konami revives him. He was freaken cool. But... Almost all main characters of video games are Anthropromorphic. Mario's Anthropromorphic, Snake's Anthropromorphic, Link's Anthropromorphic. Anthropromorphic means Humanoid, not furry. But... what about... ... meh, can't think of any other Furrys that everyone likes, so nevermind. But yeah, Sparkster is like one of the coolest so called "furries" in the video game universe. Even cooler than Sonic the Hedgehog. ... by a longshot.

Actually, you are incorrect, Fironic. Yes, part of the word itself means human. However, "Anthropromorphic" means to apply human characteristics to non-human creatures and beings (animals/plant/etc.) The term derives from a combination of Greek ἄνθρωπος (anthrōpos), human and μορφή (morphē), shape or form. Therefore, Mario is not an Anthropromorph (one who is Anthropromorphic) but Sonic is as hedgehogs do not normal wear shoes or fight robots.

Also, Sparkster is just awesome despite never playing the games. There is very little that is more awesome then a opossum-jet-packing-wearing-knight-weilding-a-lazer-shooting-sword.
