I use Game Maker 7.0. I´ve done a couple of games with it, mostly platform games. My sig is about a Metroid game made by me,with Game Maker. It is a nice program to do little games, I sometimes do stupid games in 10 minutes!
Is there anyone else using Game Maker? Just wanted to know and chat. If there is already a topic of this, post me.

And... HEY! Stupid games? I, I'll have you know, am currently working on a very EPIC game made with GM! It ALSO has lots of DEPTH!
(Either that or it'll suck terribly. It's a text/graphics adventure :P)

And I remember a person here on CR made a game called "Detective Gumshoe's evidence search" or something using GM.
I tried that... but I can't get the text-box transparent. :(
And the characters mouths... can't get them to move!

If you click the picture you can download a zip of a test I made with it.
All you have to do is turn on the transparency and it'll work. I included the picture, the executable, and the Game Maker file in the zip so you can edit it however you like. I just need to figure out how to imitate the text of PW. I can't get that "typing" effect.
Now to come up with ideas!

Don't worry about the "Type-writer" effect, I already have an engine for that. But the problem with that text-box is that it isn't the right kind of transparency. :( I already made a box like that when I was trying to make a Phoenix Wright engine, but all it does is make the letters look weird. See, in the Phoenix Wright games, the text-box just makes the image behind it darker. It's possible to do this in Game Maker, but I just don't know how. D:
I have a friend who considers himself a Game Maker expert (Although, he's pretty arrogant) and I think he can help. He made Bort the Block (Not the most polished game ever) and in it, the text-boxes are kinda Phoenix Wright-like. I'll ask him about that.
But if I can make the text-box work, I could make a Phoenix Wright case maker that's super easy to use! :D
EDIT: Just played the test. Yeah, it works OK, but let me tell you something... the "Type-writer" effect makes it so everything but the text-box is frozen. :( I've tried to fix it, but it seems to be the only way.
