Halo was really excellent, with pretty visuals and intuitive controls. I played through two levels last night. It is the only FPS game I ever play, because no other is really interesting to me. I love the excitement of trying to nail people across a field with a sniper rifle, or fighting for your life when you have no ammo left. The multiplayer rounds are a blast, too.

Feel free to hate Halo 2, though. It was an overrated piece of crap missing some of the original soul of the game.

Halo 1 could have been a great game, but the downright horrible level design pretty much killed it for me - with no clear direction of where to go half the time, defense sequences that went on for far too long, and levels like the Library and the assault on the control center that ended up looking like the same room repeated over and over.

Halo 2...didn't do a damn thing to improve on it. I was also annoyed at how the crosshair is too low on screen.

At this point, I don't have any intention of playing Halo 3.

I really don't like it either. It just... doesn't seem.... right to me.

Doom 3 wasn't bad, and Farcry at least looked cool. Half-life 2, while not as good as the first one, was awesome. But halo.... it just isn't worth playing. It's just too generic. It's like it tries to imitate Unreal, but failing misserably.

Besides, the fact that it originally only came out on the X-box, which I don't have, has to be a turn-off anyhow.

I preferred Perfect Dark (not XBOX 360 one >_>) to Halo...

But maybe the non-insta-lose in campaign when you die makes it more appealing? Or maybe the graphics? XD >_>

I've only played the first one, and was never arsed to finish the second one. I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't go hugely mad over it, eg. buy a 360 to play Halo 3.

Never played Halo never really cared much for it. But I'll probably play it and master it in like two rounds. I always do in FPS games. Then I'll love it and want more. But I really can't pass a final judgement on the series.

There we go. That's a lot like how I feel. I really liked the first Halo, though. It's disappointing that the series seems to have gone downhill.

...For the record, there are arrows under the door that tell you where to go, or Cortana marks off your destination for you. I only got lost very rarely. There were some repetitive rooms, but they didn't bother me much since each had different arrangements of enemies and plenty more to pay attention to than scenery.

Well, I hate the people that hate Halo BECAUSE its overrated. If they actually played the game and hate it, I understand. No changing them. So if you want an explaination on why Halo is good, then play the game. You'll see why it is overrated.

Halo is awesome, but it is overrated (its just more popular that it deserves to be). Its still a great series, and Halo: CE was really a milestone for console FPS, but the only reason its popular is becose it brought PC-quality shooters to console.

i've played all of the halo's. my friends are 360 fans and still won't shut up about it. whenever i hang out with them, all they want to do is HALO3. it's a fun game and all, but it's not that good. im not saying it's bad or anything, im just saying that it's viewed way too highly

Halo is overrated, but alot of fun. I've played and enjoyed all three Halo games, they may not cure cancer but they keep me entertained in both the single player and online multiplayer.

Ah...the word overrated is overused here.

I thought that halo was the biggest loser game ever until a couple weeks ago, when I played Halo 3 with seven other friends...its nothing out of the ordinary with FPSs, but I dont see anything wrong with it.

And as for it being overrated, I dont neccessarily think that that is the case. I think that it just happened to be the multiplayer game that the majority of the population decided would act as the staple game, the one that everyone should play and be familiar with. Its a connecting point for gamers, nothing more...any FPS shooter could have "become" Halo. Except, perhaps, Turoc (I luv that game its so ridiculous lol)

It's a solid FPS, and probably the best console original FPS we'll ever see(Perhaps Haze we'll change that, we'll see) but it simply doesn't hold to PC FPS, it does not even match Bungie's previous trilogy that is over 10 years old.

It's the fans that have driven me to hate it, ignorant little twats that proclaim Halo not only as the best FPS ever, but also the best game ever. Absolutely fucking digusting.

Oh well, at first, I didn't really paid attention to the game. Until my fiancee lent me the PC copy of the 1st Halo. Even though my cpu had hard times running it, I managed to finish single player and I never bothered with online play since I know that I wouldn't stand 15 sec in a game, both from being bad ar it and from all the l33t retards that are making a big part of online play in any games. And now the way it's over-hyped, I don't like it at all. They should've called it Halo: Patch 3.0 because all the games are basically the same... Yeah I know it's ironic coming from a maniac Megaman fan.... Anyway, I don't really like FPS because I'm mostly bad at it, even more in multi.

I don't bash anyone who likes Halo 3 but I'll never get into it, I just don't see what's so awesome. :udgy:

It's a damn fine game, but I do agree that it dosen't really do anything different from other games. It dosen't really evolve throughout the series either. I played some Halo 3 multiplayer yesterday, and it was really wasn't any different from Halo 1&2.

It amuses me to no end the way that whenever someone takes a shot at Half-Life, the first thing the fans do is point to the assorted mods. Is the actual game so mediocre that you aren't even willing to attempt defending it, and are simply going to recommend user-created mods to accommodate for a shoddy game.

I like the Halo series, but I don't think it's the greatest thing ever. The story is pretty meh but the multiplayer is what makes it fun since it's more accessible to people.

It's popular since it's was the next "good" console fps after GoldenEye007 that was easy to play with alot of people rather than having everyone on a pc.

I'll never wait in line for a Halo game, but I'll quietly order it online.

It sells. No matter how bad a game is, if people will buy it, companies will make. "If you build it, they will come." Simple as that.

I will admit that it is a good game, though. To be honest, I'm not quite sure how this "Halo is God" hype started up. In fact, I'm not sure how hype begins at all. But then again, everything is overrated.

Actually, the Sega 32x is overrated in some circles, I know a small group of people that cling to the 32x and hail it as some sort of deity, a deity whose greatness could not be appreciated by the majority of gamers.

Now, care to correct to me if I'm wrong, but would declaring a system to be a deity, not be a form of overrating that particular system?
