Farming is epic. This thread is for Harvest Mooners to brag, complain, discuss, etc. The adventures in farming, marrying, fishing, and meeting strange animals while following Lumina to the forest.
Enjoy.
Re: Harvest MoonTopic%20Title

Harvest Moon is for fat people who don't have the stamina to do real farming.

Legend of the River King, on the other hand, is win.

Thank you, Gears. Your opinion is valued. Though I can't say I fit in that demographic, despite playing the game. Odd.

Rune Factory (both 1 & 2) are far more better than the normal Harvest Moon.

Well, I can't say I agree x3
I've only played the first one and I found it rather unpolished, but then again, for the first game of that kind it was still fairly enjoyable... But I did enjoy Harvest Moon DS than Rune Factory 1. I'll wait and see how the second one matches~

Somehow, I feel I'm acting a bit biased because of Popuri xD;

I LOVE THE GAMES! But I'm disliking all the monster stuff...man, why can't they go back to the good days of the SNES and GCN versions...now THAT was Harvest Moon at it's best, and it was fantastic!

I hate the battling thing too...It detracts from the realism of the farming, really. But, then again, Rune Factory is a fantasy harvest moon. But on HMDS it pissed me off. JUST LET ME GET MY GOLD, MAN!

My favorite HM game was Friends of Mineral Town. DS (my copy at least) had way to many glitches. That and if I married Karen the game would have to end! :sadshoe:

Harvest Moon: Back to Nature on the PS1 was the best Harvest Moon game. Hands down. Whoever says otherwise is obviously wrong.

I've married Gray in MFoMT and Rock in AWL. I have to say Gray is the better husband...he doesn't let my child run around a huge ass town unnatended so I'm out all night on the freaking horse looking for the quick little bitch.
Plus he has a stable career XD

Back to Nature indeed rocked. I have Friends of Mineral Town which is basically the same thing, and if you ask me it set the benchmark for the traditional HM games to be measured up against. It might get outclassed by Magical Melody, though (lots of stuff to do, very expansive). A Wonderful Life just wasn't my cup of tea.

I wish I had FoMT. Yes, the DS version was filled with too many glitches and it was too easy to make money my ways other than actual farming (Poker in the casino, Mining, etc.). Also, I feel your pain, Serrot-kun. I wanted to marry Popuri, but the game would end if I did. Therefore, I changed over to Muffy who is basically a blonde Popuri anyway.

Also, for those who don't know, Harvest moon Online for the Wii has been announced by Natsume for some time. Here's the link:

I agree. I also have Back to Nature, but I need to get used to the differences from FoMT. Like the cut scenes and stuff like that.
I didn't like Magical Melody as much and I have to say Wonderful Life... nah, no comment... >.<
64 was the one that started it for me, it has that special first experience place.
I played Rune Factory, I liked having the monsters helping with farming but the fighting was a little to much to have to deal with for my farming tastes.
(I'm an animal person. I'm one of the ones who only gets a few plants each season, collects wild food and gets a chicken ASAP.)
I'm looking forward to what the Wii game will offer, I hope they go for a more traditional HM with Wii controls.

Edit: Please translate that someone!
And later copies of DS had the glitches fixed, but I never got one of them. I might though. It was on Wikepedia with how to identify what version you have.

My FoMT actually restarted... twice!
There was a trick to keeping your animals alive past their lifetime. First you have to save before bed each night. If an animal died you would find out in the morning. If you re load your game the animal will still be alive and there is a chance it might survive the night. This also works for weather. Just check the TV first thing in the morning, if the next day's weather looks bad start the day over and look again. It usually changes, it may take a few tries though.
I would flip the power off then on really fast. That was my undoing. I tried to save my animals and ended up losing everything twice.
The third time was strictly in the DS I had just gotten. Never had the problem again!

I love the Harvest Moon series. My favorite is Friends of Mineral Town. I have a couple of them..
FoMT (GBA)
Magical Melody and A Wonderful Life (both GC)
HM: DS (DS)
and the Island-based one, I imported it from Japan but I can't read any of it lol.
Gotten pretty far on each of them except for the Island one and Magical Melody, MM was a little too.. different for me, I didn't get too far.

When I was little I loved Harvest Moon 64. Well, basically since there weren't any stores where I could buy the game, I'd rent it continuously from the local rental place... And there was this one kid who tried to do the same thing, therefore I could never get past a few months without having my files deleted.

So, recently I acquired Harvest Moon DS and Harvest Moon Friends of Mineral Town. I have fallen in love with the Doctor, and now EllixJackxDoctor is my OT3. I like all the Mineral Town girls, though, as they were also in 64. The only one I don't like as much is Mary, and even so I think she's cute, just not the type I'd marry.

I still haven't gotten around to playing Rune Factory, but since I've burned all my money on Copics, I probably won't for a while, unless I borrow from one of my friends.

I also have Harvest Moon 3 GBC, which I bought in Brazil for R$50, a total ripoff, but I didn't realize it at the time. And, I downloaded the Virtual Console version of the original Harvest Moon. I need to actually play that...

At some point my brother played A Wonderful Life as a rental for a couple of days. I didn't like it that much.

I want to play Magical Melody :/ My friend has it, maybe I'll borrow it.

I had Rune Factory for a while but I really didn't like it, the dungeon crawling was the worst element in a game I've seen in a while.. I wish they could've added more RPG elements and made it easier to catch on to because at the beginning it was impossible for me to start the dungeons, I ended up trading it in for 20 bucks at EB.

And I was gonna get the VC Harvest Moon, since the real copies are around 200 bucks on eBay. Tell us if you like it?

I've been a long time Harvest Moon fan, since the day I first played Harvest Moon 64. At this moment I am replaying Harvest Moon GBC 3, which I never seem to get pass the first year. I kept restarting before. >_> Hopefully I won't this time. I find that the games become boring after you gotten married or saved the farm land. But oh well.

I've only played two days so far, so there's not much I can say, but the English is kinda awkward, and the controls are pretty bad (although that's probably because I'm using a Gamecube controller, and it's kinda awkward to use the pad thingy).

But it seems like a cute game so far, I'll say more on that after I've actually played a few more days.

The original was quite the charm, I dare say. Though there's some other things that bug me about it.

Time goes waaaay too fast when you're in the mountains. You can obtain a watch later in the game to help you adjust the time.... somehow. I never went very far with the original, so I only know from what I read on the internets. Then there's the fact that the game can end even with a happy ending. Happens around the end of the third year I think, though I'm not very sure. Luckily you can get different kinds of endings depending on the requirements, so I guess there's some replay value in that.

The festivals in Harvest Moon 64 in my opinion, were the best and most creative. None of the newer festivals can ever match up to those.

A HM player once reported a Gustafa glitch in Wonderful Life for Girls. It was the wedding ceremony thing, and Gustafa comes out of his house still in his sitting position. It looked like he was flying.

I wish there was a video of it..... um.. just saying.

In the Mineral Town series, you can make recipes with..... a few additions. Such as adding honey to Strawberry Milk for example. It helps improve your chances of winning, as long as your recipe doesn't turn out burned. Don was lucky to get the stone to work with him. :P
