As the title reads, this thread is for us to talk about games that are little-known, hard to find, et cetera. Here's my first entry.

Image

Threads of Fate. One of my favorite games. I rented it once, curious, and then bought a copy. It's short, but very well made, and there's good replay value. Graphics were good for its time, the game was a good difficulty, the music was really good... and the script and plot is one of the best I have ever seen.

So, you have any obscure, relatively unknown games you want to share?
I wish I didn't suck at Photoshop D:

Not sure whether it is obscure or not, but I only know one other person who's got it and it was because of them I got it, so the two aren't coincident.

Eretzvaju, or better know as Evil Zone in the US.
Extreme stereotypical, cheesy anime cast and a simple yet effective battle system, this game had a weird sort of charm to it.
:matt:
Honestly, nothing can beat a fighting game that involves a power ranger wannabe, a person possessed by Lucifer, 5 lesbians and a hilarious dub. :redd:

Evil Zone! <333333 :edgy: I love that game! XD I dressed up as Midori for Halloween once.....and went to school as her (Everyone was like :ack: "Hooker!" :larry: )

I'm not sure if it's obsecure or not but....Sudeki. It's an RPG-Action/Adventure-FirstPersonShooter lovechild for the Xbox (*gasp* Blasphemy!). The characters and story were sort cliched (although the alternate universe was kinda wicked! XD), the controls were slightly awkward, but I still liked it! ^^

I just remembered a lot of the early, semi-obscure puzzle games that I mostly found via Playstation Magazine's demo disc (I collected them).

Intelligence Qube, Devil Dice, and Mr. Domino. Man, with the possible exception of Devil Dice though, they were more or less mediocre puzzle games with good concepts.

Oh, could I go on. Let me name a few...

Image

Little Samson. You play 4 diffrent people, one who is a female dragon named Gamm. One of the earliest games where you play as a dragon, correct? In any case, it's really cool.

Image

Birthright: Gorgons Alliance. The game is parted into 3 diffrent parts. War, Domestic actions and Adventure. All based on Dungeons and Dragons.

Image

Urban Assault. You play a Host Station operator in a post-apocalypse, alien infested world, which electro-magnetic field is slowly getting sucked away. Seriously awesome game.

Oh, and I've ALSO played Journeyman Project 2: Buried in time. It IS a really cool game, but 3 in a fow? :P

This relieves me in more ways than you all could ever know. I made a topic about Journeyman some time ago (At old CR I think... I don't really remember) . When nobody posted, I just assumed I was the only one...

I only found it by accident, though. I bought a LARGE ammount of oldschool games for, ehm, 80$ I think. Anyway, there were a few gems among them: Warcraft 2: Beyond the Dark Portal expension pack (along with the original that I had already), Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun (the only C&C I've completed with no cheats), and Journeyman Project 2. I thought it looked kind of 'meh', but when I tried it out it was really cool. It beats Myst, anyhow.

A very underated RPG game if you ask me. I love that game to death because compared to other games it's so unique in almost every aspect. It's pretty old though, from a few years back but it's still one of my favorites. One of the funniest games I've ever played with the most unique artwork (Reminds me of Tim Burton). The only thing it lacks is that it has a pretty average battle system :nick:
Besides that it's a really good game!!

Man, I have Okage on my shelf here. I forgot about it.

I really enjoyed it, up until this one dungeon in the beginning (sometime after you rescued the princess chick from the water temple place) where it was just too tedious and boring to go on.

It had epic potential though.

I know EXACTLY what you mean! The fights and the dungeons(they were too much alike) were the one things I could not stand about it.
Besides that, your absolutely right, it had potential to be great. But considering it's like only 8.99 now, it's a good pickup.

Well, I know this weird game about a lawyer who solves mysteries. The game's name is "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney."

But in all seriousness...
Imageand series, AKA EarthBound.

You get to beat hippies, aliens, cultists, and giant talking piles of vomit with baseball bats and frying pans. You defeat the final bosses through singing, the power of positive thinking, and waiting for him to kill himself out of remorse, respectively. In the latter two, text speed can save your life. In the third, listening to the music in battle helps you do more damage. You take journies through your own subconciousness, and other people's. There are cats who swim on the ground, and crazy doodle creatures. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll stare with your mouth agape.

I really wish they would expand upon it. It was a good idea but lacked development. (I remember the lesbians. But only two. Five!? Shit I have to play it again.)

I played as Al ~

I've also played Cool Spot and tried to download Cave Story. Mother I've seen a bit played, but haven't tried it myself.

Nice try, big boy. But this one is a classic.

He's one of the four animalistic badasses in the playstation-age of gaming; Crash Bandicoot, Spyro, Croc and Gex. :aiga:

I mean, a game about a gecko that can enter parodic television shows and fire off random pop culture references randomly throughout the game HAS to be SOMETHING, right? Enter the Gecko and Deep Cover Gecko are both really awesome games that stand out as one of the few major 3D adventure playstation games.

I tried the 2D version after playing them. But as HH said... they suck. Pretty bad. :larry:

Gex is only obscure to those born after the 90's, although I didn't really remember it untill you brought it up...

On topic: anyone ever play Mischief Makers? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mischief_Makers

Very fun game, and the only Enix game I've ever seen (before Square bought them of course). I happened to get it for my birthday from a friend I barely knew. None of my friends heard of it untill I showed it to them. But then they'd ask to play Diddy Kong Racing instead. It was an innovative game that never really caught on.

Aww, man. I love Earthbound. While it's not as obscure as it used to be, the wackiness makes it stand out so much from the same old "medieval heroes save the world" themes. The gameplay is pretty standard for RPGs (excluding the fact that it involves some crazy people and places). The storyline is... really heartwarming, and the ending is one of the best I've ever come across. The graphics, well, they're brilliant for a 16-bit console (especially those tripped out battle backgrounds) and the music fits all too well.

Plus, the original MOTHER was amazing for its time. And MOTHER3. 8D
And there's my two cents. :3

P.S. Doylie-Mo + Urby, you're my new friends. Cave story wins :]

THIS GAME WAS BRLLIANT!! (And very hard too)

Oh yes, Vagrant Story was the most interesting obscure RPG. (This was released around in 2000 during Threads Of Fate, Saga Frontier 2, and Final Fantasy IX were released for the Playstation)

The graphics were so...BREATHTAKING! (This was mighty compared to the same good details since KONAMI'S Metal Gear Solid) And the story and music is very amazing! My brother got really far in this game around the same year it when it was released, and we had to play in Japanese. (He bought the Japanese version copy, and it was really, really hard through trial and error since we didn't know how to understand the language throughout the whole game) I really wish I could hunt the USA copy...but, I can't seem to find it unfortunately. :sadshoe:

SQUARE-ENIX made such a good obscure game...I'll never forget it. :larry:

Okage is one of my favorite games ever, and is defiantly obscure. My friend randomly threw it at me one day in art class and told me to play it, so I did and I loved it.

It has such a nice art style(like you said, reminds me of Tim Burton), funny lines, and interesting characters. I wish more people would pick it up and play it! Though the battle system is horrible, and the dungeons nearly all look the same, it's still worth it to play.

I would like to second Vagrant Story as one of the most underappreciated games of its generation. It got a 40/40 from Famitsu but hardly sold at all, and the fandom is mostly dead. I pulled it out just a few weeks ago and had a blast!

Oh Odoroki, try as you might, your antannae will never be a match for Ashley Riot...!!

I ADORE Earthbound. It had such and odd sense of humor and fun game play.

I motion to bring in Qix Neo, a sequel to an old Taito arcade game. This game, for all it's simple game play and graphics, is incredibly addicting.
