This is one hell of an impressive piece of creative thinking, and a superb prototype. Notice I said prototype because:

1) This tech is not suitable for multiplayer gaming in one room as is, although it would work well with online play
2) The technology is limited by the screen it's being played on

The first problem is easily corrected by developing a more complicated two-way IR interface, but the second problem requires the development of new display technology to be corrected.

This kind of thing would be ideal in an arcade.
Does we even do these things anymore?

They would be using it for profit, however.

The whiteboard should be REALLY easy to set up. If you just want to toy around with it and see how it works, use anything that produces or holds a flame - best a lighter, worst a candle (wax, little control, uninterrupted drawing), as infrared is one of the wavelengths in fire.

This is so awesome! But sadly with it only working with one person at a time you'd pretty much be lonely playing it unless all of your friends have it.

It's an interesting step but the problem comes with the usability of the games/software that would use this system. I mean, FPS would benefit with this a lot but the problem would be the RPG and as well as MMORPG games. Plus factor in the cost of having to manufacture the IR glasses, then it'll be a infeasible solution...
