Has anyone else here heard of Oddworld or play it? Personally I'm quite the fan of it, especially the Oddworld games that feature the Mudokons. Since Abe's Oddysey, I've always felt that the Mudokons were what it's all about. Hence why I'm kinda disappointed that Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath didn't feature even one Mudokon. It's a shame that Oddworld Inhabitants had to close their doors to the gaming world, luckily there's a small rumor that they're now making an Oddworld film (they originally planned for Oddworld to become a film series), so that should tie me over.

I just hope it features Mudokons. Lots and lots of Mudokons, and the occasional Gabbit maybe. *Insert more rambling here*

Oddworld, it's just so hilarious. I have the first three games..... 'cept I can only find my copy of Abe's Oddysey (first game) and Munch's Oddyssey (third game). I'm not sure where my Abe's Exodus (second game) has went to.......

So anyone else here a player or simply heard of the series?

Despite the fact Ive only played Abe's Oddesy, I can still say it's a great series. I really need to get a hold of the other games.
Atticus Finch is my hero.

I have news on Oddworld Inhabitants that you all will be interested in. Although they've laid off their games team, It's now an 'Ideas' company. In other words, Lorne comes up with new ideas and concepts and other companies look at these ideas and decide to use them. They then work with the Oddworld Designers to create the aforementioned product (With the teams coming from the company, not Oddworld). So there might well be more Oddworld games in the future if another companies decides to make one :3

Edit: Oh, and I think Abe's Exoddus is the best game of the lot. It's just ace! It's also pretty darn challenging, which is why the infinite lives are so vital.

Edit II: Quote and sauce!
Quote:
) What is Oddworld Inhabitants doing now? When will the Oddworld film be released? When will the official website be updated?

There are numerous misconceptions echoing through the gaming community, so it’s important we get this right. Oddworld Inhabitants is no longer a videogame developer: the company employs no game designers, programmers or animators. It is also not a film development company. It is purely a creative core of designers and storytellers creating tales, characters and conceptual artwork that will be brought to life by external development partners to be made into games or films. This is not a rare relationship. Many game franchices are owned by publishers who dictate what develop can make the next game in the series. The difference is that OWI is not a publisher, and Lorne and Sherry will remain the director of his works.

The reason for this is so that Oddworld Inhabitants can concentrate on what it does best: creating ideas. Before, Lorne would have to spend a large percentage of his time in administration. He can now leave that responsibility with the developers whose job it is to create the entertainment. It also means Lorne can—instead of splitting his time between ideas, programming, animation, PR, etc.—divide his time between different projects. This means several different project can be worked on at once.

The first example of this new business model is the current partnership between Oddworld Inhabitants and Vanguard Animation in the creation of Lorne’s first feature film, Citizen Siege. Contrary to popular belief, Lorne has not stopped designing games, and Citizen Siege, like all of his ideas, was conceived as a film and game at the same time. This allows his stories to be created as films and games from the same digital databases, meaning that future releases, including Citizen Siege, are likely to be released as a film and game simultaneously.

I've played Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus recently and it was fantastic. I never did manage to rescue all 300 Mudokons though. I think I saved around 270.

By the way, for those who want to remenisce, yet can't play the games, a guy called Saddik72 has uploaded LOADS of videos of Oddysee and Exoddus, including save all mudokon walkthrough and kill all mudokons! The game's in italian though, but the only thing that changes is the voice clips and the language on the signs.
