1. Spam
2. Rarely funny or relevant
3. Overused

Same with smilie floods, by the way. :edgeworth:

So it's like that random picture of ralph in cherrykunai's request topic for TWEWY

No, nobody liked him and he was a nuisance. I was egging Tinker on to ban him a long time ago (eventually did happen although I don't know who or what did it) and we were both surprised when he came back, since we were under the impression that it was a permaban.

Liar.

Only Admins can ban people, not Mods. Besides, I think more forum members hate you than they hate Ryu-sama.

Mods can ban. Just not by IP. But we don't ban and unban people willy nilly around here because they ask for it.

Post subject:  Re: FAQ

I'm not sure if I should ask this here, but anyway ...
What's up with the Court-Records site lately? Many pages only load 50% (you have to reload the page a couple of times to get the rest of the content) and many links give you a "Service Temporarly Unavaible" error.
I'm wondering what's going on ...

Author:  An89ty [ Thu Jul 02, 2009 5:24 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: FAQ

well about the "Services Temporarly Unavalibe" question, the best I can do is show the quote that Wooster left on a thread that's on Court Docket.

Wooster wrote:
To put it simply, we're aware of the issue.

Here's the issue as it is. With dreamhost, we're on a shared server. Which is the equivalent of being hosted in an apartment. We've got for all intents and purposes unlimited disk space and bandwidth, so things are all well and good.

The problem is we've got so many people asking for files at the same time that Dreamhost's server can't give our neighbors the level of service they need. To give an example, a single request for a 5 meg file puts less strain on the server then 80 requests for smaller files totaling 5 megs.

So Dreamhost did the best thing they could, given the circumstances, and throttled us.

I hope that's at least answered your question. Even if you get that "Services Unavalibe" crap, just keep refreshing and it'll go away :doodle:.

Post subject:  Re: FAQ

Ah, I see. Thanks, I must have overlooked that statement.
Is there any chance that Dreamhost puts CR fully back on track soon?

I think they're back on track now, judging by the fact that I can actualy post here.

Not really ... The pages still don't load well, and when I want to look at the official art for example, I have to reload the page two or three times before it shows up.

They throttled us because of increased activity, so by reloading pages over and over you're making it worse. :texasman:

Post subject:  Re: FAQ

Do the errors have anything to do with hotlinking from CR?

Author:  RandomJibberish [ Fri Jul 03, 2009 5:36 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: FAQ

They can affect it, as hotlinking puts strain on the server for everyone who looks at the hotlinked images, even if it isn't on CR itself.

So hotlinking is bad.

Author:  Brawldud [ Fri Jul 03, 2009 8:41 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: FAQ

:D None of my posts hotlink to CR :maggy: Even if I'm quoting something that hotlinks I still host the image myself on PicFront or TinyPic and change the quote to not hotlink :D

I've got another question that's been bothering me for a while.

Can anyone tell me what happens if I delete the board cookies? I just need to know before I end up doing something that I completly regret :beef:.

I did it once. And it logged me out. Which caused a problem for me :igarashi:

I see.

So deleting all the board cookies will just log me out? I thought it'd have done something much worse :beef:.

Thanks for answering my question though :pearly:.

I think it will do a few other things, not just log you out.

Anyways.

Will editing a post bump it to the top of the list?

Author:  Perrydotto [ Sun Jul 05, 2009 11:40 pm ]

No, you have to use the bump feature for that.

Ok, this error is getting worse. It not only gives me a server error, but it redirects me to a different website.

All deleteing the board cookies will do is log you out and remove the "Remember Me" setting.

Erm... when I check my profile, it no longer provides me with a "Most Active Forum" or "Most Active Topic" statistic. Why is that?

Post subject:  Re: FAQ

Just a quick question-
How come when I edit some of my posts, it shows the "Last edited by ammchan at..." message, but on some other posts (if I edit), it doesn't?
Also, is there a way to get rid of it?

It's...er, not a big deal, it just kinda bothers me. XD Sometimes...

If your post is the last post in a thread and you edit it before anyone else posts in it, it won't "announce" that you edited it. Otherwise, that message shows up at the bottom of the post. I don't think you can get rid of it.

Actually, now that I look at Crouton, Wrestlemania, and FdrlPrsctrTails, this appears to apply to anyone with over 5000 posts.

When you receive a warning, let's say, oh, for spam (just an example), does that warning ever "expire" with good behavior or is a permanent skid mark on your record? :yuusaku:

So... they're prepping all of the four highest posting members of CR for banning. Makes sense... :yuusaku:

Not to say it isn't merited. If you have over 5000 posts in nine months, you're probably a huge spammer, you've earned a ban, because spamming is, might I remind you, against the rules.

Wooster wrote:
-PLEASE MAKE POSTS WITH SUBSTANCE. Though this is very open-ended rule, it makes life easier if your posts stay on topic and don't include a dozen quote boxes. Think before you post.

I'm not saying all of you are massive spammers, maybe you stay on topic. *Shrug* There's likely a logical reason that they aren't showing.

I admit to spamming some, but I have so many posts so quick because I am on almost all day. I have the site up and check every 10 minutes or so for new posts.

And I'd still like an answer, please. :payne:

Dude, i've recieved a warning regarding this, and i've since then avoided spamming. But as BlackJack says, most of it is just because we both spend WAAAAAY too much time here. Also, for a long time, unlike most posters (as far as I can tell) I posted in pretty much every other active topic. Usually constructively and on-topic, although I did on occassion get carried away.

Still, it seems harsh to say that just because I post a lot I deserve banning. If it was mostly spam, fair enough, but it wasn't, until recently, and I was duly informed and warned. :yuusaku:

Post subject:  Re: FAQ

I never outright said you needed to be banned, I said should it happen, "it would be merited." so don't twist my words around. That's all I'm saying here. No reason to continue with what I've already said.
