Anyone here ever hear of Neil Gaiman's comic series, "The Sandman?" They're really amazing comics, and although some of the artists are a bit too chaotic for their own good, the writing is always solid. As a matter of fact, one issue won the World Fantasy Award in 1991, after which the rules were changed to disallow graphic novels. The volumes are pretty easy to find at bookstores, and are about as expensive as popular manga is these days (so, about 15 USD for one volume).
