Some of you may or may not have been wondering who the dashing Japanese man in my current avatar is, so allow me to introduce you to Furuhata Ninzaburo, the main character of a Japanese mystery drama TV show of the same name.

Ninzaburo is an absolutely brilliant detective. As OMG Cracker put it:

OMG Cracker wrote:
Seriously, this guy is like L and Layton put together.

He also reminds me of Detective Robert Goren from Law & Order: Criminal Intent. The way he captures the criminal involves acting like he doesn't suspect a thing, and casually presenting small pieces of evidence as the criminal slowly gets more and more nervous. Finally, when he's nearly got them cornered, his personality seems to change and he brings out the final evidence that clinches it. He is, quite simply, amazing.

But don't take my word for it. Here, see for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gWpoAHCGIc&feature=related (The first part of 5 of a full episode).

The only problem is, that once you've watched this episode you'll probably be hungry for more. Unfortunately, unless you're fluent in Japanese, it seems you can't get any more. Despite a fairly thorough scouring of the internet, I've been unable to find a single other episode with English subtitles anywhere. This makes me very sad. :sadshoe:

If anyone can find something I've missed I'd be very grateful. Otherwise I'll just have to be content with this one fleeting gem of brilliance. :larry:

I love Furuhata Ninzaburo. It's pretty much THE Japanese detective show(Galileo ain't got shit on this). I occasionally catch reruns of the show during the daytime whenever I'm not at work. It has a very standard "put together the clues" formula every episode, but Regy Rusty pretty much nailed it on the head in that the fun is putting them together with Ninzaburo. That and the theme song is the greatest ever~~~

P.S.- Thank you for finally putting up an ep with subs. I've tried like crazy to find them back when I was in the states but to no avail and just gave up. :T

OMFG. Why is there a topic on Furuhata here? XD

I LOVE FURUHATA. Over the course of December, I have seen every single episode of Furuhata Ninzaburou. The show is a lot like Columbo, which is a compliment for both series. And Tamura Masakazu? Great actor! For me, this is the Japanese drama (OK, Furuhata Ninzaburou and Trick. Those two). Heck, lately, I talk Japanese like him XD

In the third season of Furuhata Ninzaburou, one of the guest-murderers is Fukuyama Masaharu, who plays a brilliant scientist :3

Ah, by the way, Furuhata Chuugakusei (Middle school student Furuhata) has been fansubbed. Unfortunately, it was quite bad, nothing like a real Furuhata episode. Except for the intro with Tamura Masakazu.

And it was awesome that Furuhata and Mukoujima were linked. In the main series, Furuhata constantly forgets Mukoujima's name (and when he finally remembers it, Mukoujima changed his name XD), that's made even more sad if you realize they have been classmates one time XD

Mm yes, I noticed that on Youtube when I was watching Ninzaburo. But my friend who introduced me to the show (who is more fluent in Japanese than I and so can actually watched the non-subbed episodes) told me it was awful so I didn't bother.

That is one of the better episodes, if not only for what Furuhata does to KimuTaku at the end of the episode :3

KimuTaku is by the way the only actor who played a criminal twice on the show, on time on this episode as a bomber, the second time as himself in Furuhata Ninzaburou vs SMAP.

Wow! It actually happened! Maybe ranbanyaku will put up more of them!

*goes to request as much*

I'm really glad I made this topic now or I might not have found this for a while! :will: Thanks Johnny.

Edit: That was a really good episode. I liked how

Spoiler:
Furuhata strikes the guy at the end and then shakes and holds his hand afterward because he hurt himself. XD

Furuhata Ninzaburou FINAL 2: Fair na Satsujinsha ("Furuhata Ninzaburou FINAL 2: The Fair Murderer") has just been released with an English sub, I spotted on D-Addicts.

It is the second of the three FINAL episodes and features baseball player Suzuki Ichirou als himself as the murderer! It was IMHO the weakest of the three FINAL episodes, but still a good one, especially as Mukoujima has an important part in the story.
