You know, there's actually a petition floating around online that anti-Light!Efron. It provided much lulz, but I lost the link, sadly. I any case, while Efron's a pretty good actor in the bright, bubbly teenage demographic movies, I honestly don't think he could pull off something as dark and possibly disturbing as Death Note. Oh well, we won't know for a couple of years, will we?

And YES. MORGAN FREEMAN AS WATARI WOULD BE THE BEST THING EVER.

I do think that Angelina Jolie would make a pretty good Takada.

As soon as disney lets him go(I hear that HSM3 is the last for the original cast). He'll probably try to get the role, because I heard in an interview somewhere that he likes DN.
I don't know, I'll give him a fair chance because he never had a real good acting role to branch out.

I think it would be too hard to keep Zac Efron and make an American Death Note movie serious. He's going to just be remembered as 'that kid from that one series of movies that are hated by all but Tween girls'. It's better to have someone who normally acts like Light Yagami or a not well known actor so the audience will see him as his own character and a not someone everyone is going to identify just by the face.

....and as for Jim Carrey as Ryuk- All I have to say is when Carrey takes a all-round comedic role like Lloyd Christmas, Fletcher Reede-It's pretty good. A Jim Carrey that is Serious/comedic hybrid role like Andy Kaufman, Joel Barish and Truman Burbank is also pretty good. But if The Number 23 taught me anything, Never put Carrey in an all serious film.

Keep Takeshi Kaga as the main dudes dad because he's awesome. The only reason I have both of the original live action movies is because of him.

The only comedic thing I remember he does is going through Withdrawal, and even then- No matter what- It's hard to see Jim Carrey staring at your face and not see him as anyone other than Jim Carrey. If it was CGI Ryuk with Voice acting like in the Japanese film- there might be a chance. But even then, I think you might be able to get an actor who can sound more serious.

To be honest, I dislike Ryuk and Light imagaY anyways- so if they are given roles that are not that good- I hardly think I'll care. If they give a L a bad actor though I am going to get pissed. Unfortunately, when one awful Disney singer comes, they usually brings friends. For all we know, we could see Miley Cyrus as Misa and probably a member of that godawful Jonas Brothers as L.
