Doctor Who is easily the greatest show EVER. IMO, anyways. Haha. My mum has loved it since she was a kid, with Tom Baker as her favorite. Nowadays, it's something for our whole family. Every Saturday night we sit in the living room and enjoy the Doctor's latest escapade (with ice cream, naturally). I loved Tennant as the Doctor, as well as Rose and Donna for partners (of course, if I go with ALL of them, I definitely have to add Sarah Jane and K-9). And even just a few weeks in, I already love Matt Smith as the Doctor, especially with Amy. Haha.

Spoiler: New Season spoiler
The only critique I will EVER have of Doctor Who is that they got rid of Rory. That actually made me cry (and I don't cry easily).
Well, okay, that AND I'm now terrified of statues. Particularly angels (which is awful, because I live in an almost completely Catholic town, and everywhere you look, it's either Mary or an angel).

Right-o. Sorry about that; I'd been using an iPod. Needless to say, the same luxuries aren't always afforded to miniature screens. Thanks, though. :pearl:

The Big Bang:
Spoiler:
.........................................
Steven, I am disappoint.
I mean wow that was shockingly anti-climactic.
You know, for as much flack RTD's finales got, at least I cared about them.
My blood pumped at the intense scenes, I D:'ed at the plot twists, and I cared about the characters.
My blood pumped when Yana opened the watch at the end of Utopia. I D:'ed at THIS WAS THE DAY... THE TIME LORDS RETURNED. And I cared about Wilf getting stuck in that fucking glass cabinet and the Doctor breaking down.
Here? None of it.
It felt as if... nothing happened.
The explanations were confusing/rushed/disappointed... (Amy's nonsenical house was built up to be all eerie and shit... but NO IT WAS JUST YOU HAD A BIG FAMILY OLOLOLOL) and too many loose ends.
Who the fuck was the voice who cackled "SILENCE WILL FALL!" near the end of the Pandorica Opens?
What the fuck was that shady figure seen on the ground floor of Amy's house in the Eleventh Hour?
Who the fuck did River kill? (ok I know we'll find out next series... but Steven said we'd find out by the finale of this season... you troll, Moffat)
AND WHY THE FUCK DID YOU BUILD UP THE RETURN OF ALL THOSE ALIENS/MONSTERS AND ONLY USE THEM FOR ABOUT TWO MINUTES?
ASDFGHJKL
Ughhh...
I've never been this negative about an episode this season before.
But come the fuck on, Steven.
I expected better of you.
...oh well, at least Rory's back for good (fuck yeah).
Still... waited 12 weeks for answers... and I got "The Big Bang"...
I'm pissed off right now.

Completely agree.

The Big Bang: 5/10

Spoiler:
Everything Skuly wrote. I am completely disappointed, and pissed. It was just mediocre. The only thing good was the last 5 minutes and the Skittle Dalek begging for mercy. Matt Smith's acting was truly fantastic and convincing. I could really see the Hartnell in him. One gripe that is that Amy simply imagined the Doctor back. I mean, really. And in a tailcoat. He should have been in Tennant's torn brown suit, as she imagined him that way! What the hell!

A let down to an otherwise brillant series.

Well, there were some nice moments.
Spoiler:
The fez, for example.
And the Stone Dalek begging for mercy, and River Song still shot it.
And "Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed... and Something Blue"; and then the TARDIS materialising was a fist pumpingly awesome part.

Other than that... series 5 went out on a low. Which is a shame because if the Big Bang were awesome, it would have de-throned Series 1 as my favourite since 2005.
Thank you, the Big Bang.
You just let down the Eleventh Hour, Amy's Choice, Vincent and the Doctor and the Pandorica Opens.
What have you got to say for yourself, you fiend!?

My mind's changed AGAIN after rewatch.
Spoiler:
Despite the unanswered questions, and the rubbish solutions to the cliffhangers, it was a fantastic episode imo. And Matt's acting? FAN-DUCKING-TASTIC.

Well my mind's changed after re-watch, too.
I think it's even MORE crap!

Seriously, did Moffat set out to write the most dull and uninteresting conclusion to Series Five possibly imaginable?

Still... although I disliked the Big Bang, I'll miss this series. It had its flaws but the good episodes shone greatly. I have high hopes for series six.
So now that Series Five is now all over, and we won't be hearing from our great Doctor until the 25th of December, I have one thing to say to Matt, and Karen, and Arthur, and Steven, and Beth, and Piers, and everyone else...
So long, and thanks for all the fish episodes.

... I don't care what all you whiny suckers think (srsly, how many of you have produced/written a wildly successful tv series?), but it's an awesome conclusion, flaws notwithstanding <3 I love how the Doctor keeps having greater tasks to overcome - wonder what his next epic 'saving the world' thing is gonna be, possibly involving River - about time I say.

Love this damn trio. 4some. Eeee. Rory you're amazing! *_*;;

I've liked every single episode this series up to now! I've never given anything lower than a six for any Who episode (Bar Time and the Rani, Twin Dilemma and pretty much Sylvester McCoy's entire first season) yet this episode really was an anti-climax, and just rather tedious and mediocre. It had a few good points, like Skuly said. But compared to a previous finale like The Parting of the Ways, it fell down IMO. :uramidn:

Still, could be worse. The Doctor Who forum "Gallifrey Base" has now turned into a war zone. xD But still, I do like this series, on par with Series 4 for the best of Nu-Who for me. :godot:

After lurking about on Gallifrey Base... God, the insults some of the people who disliked the episode are getting on there is ridiculous. "YOU'RE JUST WRONG!", apparently.
At least the majority of so-called "haters" are giving reasonings for their disdain. A lot of people who liked the episode seem to be going "I liked it because the time travel was clever!". Yes, the time travel was clever. Too bad it was dumped in a pool of mediocrity and running down corridors!

But yeah. Other than yesterday's episode, this series is probably my favourite next to Series One. I anticipate series six greatly. Hopefully they won't balls up the finale next time!

Now that series five has been said and done, here's what I'd like to see... next year:

For returning monsters/enemies... Sea Devils would be nice. Just don't make them look like fecking humans like you did their underground cousins, ok, Moffy? And the Dream Lord/Valeyard. Because he's cool.

For historical figures... Martin Luther King Jr. Imagine the Doctor taking him into the future and showing him how far black rights has come - and how America now has a black president? ...ok, that sounds similiar Vincent and the Doctor, but it could still be a nice scene. And Doctor Who should tackle racial issues, like it did depression in VatD, IMO. Deep subjects for the kiddies is a good thing.
Also Albert Einstein. Or maybe Charles Darwin. We need someone who was a major hand in scientific progression to be in Doctor Who, damnit!

Finally, for returning writers... Simon Nye and Richard Curtis wrote two lovely scripts this year (Neil Gaiman confirmed Curtis' return on his Twitter already though - squee!). Paul Cornell wrote two of my favourites - Father's Day and Human Nature/Family of Blood, so I'd love to see him back. Robert Shearman wrote Dalek, which (arguably) remains the best Dalek story the show's return, and he's only written one script for the show so far. A crime! A crime, I say! And how about a writer from the classic series? I'd like to see a script from Ben Aaronavitch, writer of Remembrance of the Daleks and Battlefield - the former was awesomesauce, and the latter was a good script changed completely during production. And also Terrance Dicks. Because who doesn't love Terrance Dicks?

First of all, I thought that getting the Doctor out of the Pandorica was too easy and cheap. Seriously all someone had to do was point the sonic screwdriver at the thing and it opens. And like people have said, most of the episode is just Amy and co. running. The only bit I really liked was that the events concerning Rory dying were erased, which means he's back again. :will:

Lucky British and Austrailians, meanwhile America has to wait another week (July 10th) to watch The Lodger. But nevertheless I enjoy Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor and can't wait for the Christmas special.

I've read a few articles about Matt in newspapers this week. Due to the limitations of my DSi, I can't post links so, here's the most insulting one.

Bookmakers are betting on Matt Smith's exit. Due to all the sunny weather, ratings for The Big Bang only reached around 5.7 million. Without timeshifts. Yet, the Bookmakers are assuming this means that Matt hasn't been and will never be as popular as David Tennant. This has pretty much caused a panic across Doctor Who forums worldwide. O_o

Still, 175-odd days 'till Christmas, and two more Adventure Games to come out. They should fill the Who-gap! :edgy:

They clearly missed the part where that Doctor Who episode got better viewing figures than the World Cup match on the same day.

Matt Smith's fine.

Sorry, I don't really know how ratings work...but nearly 6 million people sounds like a lot of people to me. That's like a whole quarter of Australia's population. Isn't that a fairly reasonable rating anyway?
*goes to look up UK population*
Woah. 62 million people :/ Still, five million out of that watched one TV program, and rating thingies can't measure everyone who watches it.

Possibly on a level with 'The Sound Of Drums' if not more epic, in terms of pre-finale episodes.

Goodness, I do hate the press.
Not only have the final ratings NOT COME IN OR ANYTHING (which matter far more than the overnights), but the AI and Audience Share has remained the same since the Tennant era. Yes, the show is declining in popularity! Somebody call the WHAAAAmbulance.
*sigh*
And if the ratings were really declining... it would be far from Matt's fault, would it? He's been met with praise on nearly every single website I've been on which has a... thing about Doctor Who.
And it's well earned praise, let me tell you.
