That doesn't make it scientific, just well thought out.

Even though you don't ever see any animal except when needed for dramatic effect. Durp.

Also, the reason you have to read about it in the first place is because all of the intricacies of Pandora's ecosystem were omitted in the film: all they showed was a bunch of huge creatures crashing through the undergrowth and some pretty fluorescent plants.

I really want to see this movie.
I heard that it's the same as pocahontas, is this true?

The plot's nothing new, but the visuals are absolutely mind-blowing. I'd recommend you see it - some people are really bothered by an unoriginal plot, but some just don't mind, so... Also, don't see it in 3D as the glasses will often fog over in the heat of the cinema and make the screen blurry.

By the way, is it still showing? It's been out for a while now...

Sorry for the bump, but I can't help it after reading some of the comments. Hahaha im so laughing my ass off@ those people complaining about the unrealistic ecosystem and stuff. Please, will you please kill yourself? Hahahah, hilarious shizzle. They shouldn't let people like you watch movies, come'on, what do you expect? That it is really all into the realistic world? Oh please, god thanks guys for the laugh.

About the plot though, it's really not as bad as people said it was. People like to complain about it though, cause of all the hype there was around the time it came out.

A question though; do you guys go into the movie with the feeling like "suxks not excited, let's check out if the ecosystem is realistic!!!111'' rofl.....

I saw Avatar on Imax and I thought it was a pretty-decent movie. To be honest though, I'm still not exactly sure how it became so popular that James Cameron was able to beat his own box-office record. Maybe this was because I was raised on the original Star Wars films, so I no longer get incredibly wowed by films.....

I couldn't join in that discussion, since I don't even know what an ecosystem is. D=
