This series was pretty highly recommended, but I've watched the first two episodes and hated every second.
From humourless cliché characters, to the generic girl in the glass bubble, to Masky McEvil dark guy, to the guy yelling "STRAY-EE-YAY" at me in the intro, etc.

Can anyone tell me if it gets any better or should I just give up on it?

I think by episode 4 they're leaving the city... If you watch that far and still don't like it there's no way you'll get through the whole thing. It only gets darker and more depressing (and there's a lot of down time in the middle).
