Yeah, today was the release of the latest FMA remake, which supposedly is bound to follow the manga closer than the previous anime.

This is the OP http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=El-P4XWNg24&fmt=22

and the Ending http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5y1aXR-FBnQ&fmt=22

Apparently, Australians could enjoy an simulcast. However, the rights have been given to display official subs in other sites for different regions, like Youtube and Funimation.

Wait a second.

So, if I'm reading that right, then episodes with the official subs will be shown on YouTube?

Yes, I'm not just crazy, right?

Oh, this is wonderful. :D

Ok, so
first, I present the evidence:
http://funimation.com/f_index.cfm?page=news&id=553

For US, Funimation will be the one in charge. They will deliver "high-quality, free, original Japanese dialogue accompanied by English subtitles"

They will start on
"Starting Thursday, April 9 at 10:00 a.m."

As for Aussie people
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-03-30/2009-fullmetal-alchemist-debut-gets-australian-simulcast wrote:
Madman's official website will then stream each Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood episode a couple of days after its Japanese airing. The episodes will be in Japanese with English subtitles and will remain on the website until further notice.

Youtube will stream it too... but the "bad news" is that it will take care of the French Version

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2009-04-03/funimation-to-stream-2009-fullmetal-alchemist-on-april-9 wrote:
France will be able to see the same Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood anime series on the YouTube video-streaming website.

Region Source Premiere Date
Australia Madman.com Days after April 5
Francophone Europe YouTube/Dybex Within 1 week of April 5
Hong Kong TVB April 22, 11:30 p.m.
Japan MBS/TBS network April 5, 5:00 p.m.
North America Funimation.com April 9, 12:00 p.m. ET
Philippines Animax-asia April 10, 8:30 p.m.
South Asia Animax-asia April 10, 8:30 p.m.
Southeast Asia Animax-asia April 10, 8:30 p.m.
Taiwan Animax-asia April 11, 10:30 p.m.

Obviously, this is in the intend to stop fansubbing... the bad news: 6 hours ago Shinsen Subs had already successfully subbed it in High Quality

I don't know if I can post the URL to the RAW and the English sub though. The RAW is easy to get through Google though. The English sub is a little harder

You and me both.

I pity you guys who settle for the "Official Sub". At least with the fan sub you know you're getting the FULL Translation VS the Official One where they change stuff >.>;

This is You Tube's way of trying to "satisfy" folks looking for their favorite anime on their site. Funny how they get rid of the folks busting their backs getting fansubs posted (some of which in languages we otherwise wouldn't get) and then they wanna pull this?

...No. Just "NO".

You'll hear the 1,250 fan-subbers out there echoing this as well =D

Bah, just suck it up and be glad the license holders aren't going after their asses. And well, if they are, they have a pretty good reason.

Well, I read one fansub group (can't recall which one though) wasn't going to fansub since there will be official subs. However, there are many that will.

But yeah, Fansubs are WAAAAY better than original subs. If I recall correctly, original subs don't even sub the openings and endings, while Fansubs even add timed lyrics.

If not for Fansubs, most animes would not be as popular, especially when in some languages the voice actors are just inadequate.

Fansubs are faster, better, and free (it's likely this official fansubs will be filled with ads), so why prefer companies? If you feel like you are stealing, then just go and buy official merchandise to balance things up.

Not trying to be badass.

I'm telling the truth. Karaoke is shitty, annoying and tacky. Why even add that crap? It ruins the OP sequence, just regular subs translating the song is enough.

then turn subs off for the op, or download someone's release that doesn't do karaoke

i like it, personally, and there are a lot of people that do indeed use them for karaoke.

Either you're looking way too hard for something to dislike, or you're some kind of crazy.

On another note, didn't Yui also sing Rolling Star? I like that song.

Yeah, I guess I'll take them out from the post. But right now it's easier to get them, just google:

"fma brotherhood op YUI again"
or
"fma brotherhood ending uso"

add something like "download" or "listen" or "watch HD" and you are good to go

Umm, as far as I know the manga hasn't ended... so can you know for sure they don't? *at least I've been reading it and I don't know for sure*

BTW, if you mean because of the episode 1 of brotherhood, remember it's NOT FMA 2, it's a remake that's going to stick closer to the manga, so that's the beginning again

Ok, so... I gave in and watched the first episode fansubbed. Now, without spoiling anything, I've read some comments on how they've started wrong, how the episode's a filler, how they're doing it wrong... I say they're the ones that will miss it. That first episode was awesome! It was just an introduction of things to come, and it was so awesome!

I'll watch the official sub on Thursday, just to see how it holds up, and then I'll choose which one I'll follow (Because who in their right mind would watch a 52-episode series twice over in such a short time?)

So, I just watched the first episode not too long ago and I was really happy with it (not to mention I love YUI's songs and the ending gets stuck in my head). I was a little hesitant about the remake when I heard that they changed a lot of voice actors and the animation made colonel Mustangs face a little... odd at times, but I had my eyes glued to the computer screen the whole time, admiring the animation and coloring. I'm pretty picky about the animation style, so I'm glad to say that it's an improvement. :kyouya:

Yup, they started wrong when you take into account that supposedly it was meant to follow the manga and they get stuff that people who have read the manga just say: "WTF, that NEVER happened!"

But, IMO it was a nice way to get the action set up at once, and reintroduce many old characters

Some people are unhappy over the voice actors. Thing is, some of them are from Gundam00, and FMA replaced Gundam00's time slot, so I guess they can't forget about the character they interpreted in Gundam00. I won't say which characters, so people don't start mixing them, though.

I really love this one so far, it looks like fighting will be much better: IMO that was one of the things the series needed to get improved on.
