Oh man, I loved it.
I really wasn't expecting
Spoiler:
Will to become the new captain of the Dutchman, but that was a really neat surprise.
It was nice to see him return 10 years later (in the scene after the credits)

I think it wrapped things up nicely.

I'll buy the DVD when it's released, so... Is this the last in the series?

Nope. Apparently there's meant to be at least another trilogy.

I just got back from the theatre. It liked it; it was a good movie. Definitely recommend you watch it.

There were these Will fangirls in the row behind me who screamed when

Spoiler:
Will got stabbed. And they also giggled when Norrington kissed Elizabeth before he got killed.

I just got back a couple hours ago from watching it with my friends. Thought it was pretty good, but there's one thing...

Spoiler:
Why didn't Cutler Beckett return fire?? And even more importantly, what was with the other two continuing to fire on them, and then CHEERING afterwards? It made NO freaking sense, especially seeing as Endeavor had those huge ass guns! Someone explain this for me, please.

Most professional reviews I've seen have refused it more than two stars. Interesting what a popular title will turn out in fans, even if the movie is lacking (Star Wars ROTS).
I am not leaving this as my personal opinion until I see it myself though.

Spoiler:
"Why didn't Cutler Beckett return fire??"
It would have been useless. You can't sink the Flying Dutchman. Return fire or not, he was done for. Also, his ship was kinda getting destroyed all around him. Crewmen were flying everywhere. They guys near the guns probably died first.

And even more importantly, what was with the other two continuing to fire on them?
They fired because they wanted to sink the Endeavor, and make sure Beckett got killed.

and then CHEERING afterwards?
You would cheer too if your enemies just turned around and ran. Hobohodo

D: I just didn't like the ending...

Spoiler: ending
Okay, Elizabeth and Will are fighting for their lives. EVERYONE is fighting for their lives. Then all of a sudden, they decide to have a wedding right there. My friends explained to me that pirates often wed couples just before kicking them off the plank (since they won't live to see tomorrow anyhow), but it just felt tacked on and cheap! It ruined the romance for me! I also don't like the fate Will was forced into, but I guess it's better than being dead... :\

It just so happens I wrote a review for it. Plus, after watching World's, I rewatched Curse and Chest, so I could understand it all. I will probably do it again when World's comes out on DVD.

Anyhow, REVIEW!

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End is the best endings to one of the best trilogies since the original Star Wars films. Yes, critical reception is mixed now, but years later, the Pirates Trilogy will be undoubtedly be looked back upon as some of the greatest films ever made. At World’s End manages that holy grail of movies, where sharp characters, action, and top-notch writing meet to create a product worth more then the sum of their parts. Despite being nearly three hours long, it still doesn’t feel long enough, for you will undoubtfully want to live and learn about the unique and fantastic universe of Pirates.

At the opening, we find the age of piracy coming to an end. The East India Trading Company has declared a preverbal war on the pirates, hanging all those convicted of piracy. The crew we last met in Dead Man’s Chest need to revive the witty Captain Jack, so Captain Barbosa, Elizabeth, and the remains of Jack’s crew stop in Shanghai, to get a crew and a ship. After an explosive run-in with the Trading Company, the crew set out to find Jack, who has gone a little crazier in Davy Jones’s Locker. They need Jack and the other pirate lords to gather the Nine Pieces of Eight, to summon a goddess of the sea, to assist the pirates in their final standoff. With the Trading Company and Davy Jones teaming up to take down Sparrow and the gang, they need all the help they can get. Within this plot there will be an ocean of backstabbing, secret agendas, and even long unrequited love affairs. The plot throws in a multitude of twists and turns that may leave you scratching your head. But, fans of Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and other complex films should have no trouble at all following the wonderfully rich plot.

The stories about these pirates are told through fantastic performances. Every character is quite lovable in their own way, and memorable through excellent characterization. Johnny Depp once again plays the devilishly smart Captain Jack Sparrow, along with Geoffrey Rush playing the long awaited return of Captain Barbosa. When these two are on screen, their childlike arguments and banter provide hilarious moments, and the pair is onscreen magic. Orlando Bloom takes up the role of William Turner, who plays opposite to the Kira Knightly as lovely and fiery Elizabeth Swann. Both performances haven’t changed much since the first film, but the onscreen duo provide great moments when together, and still carry strong on their own. No epic movie would be complete without an equally epic villain, and Bill Nighy returns to voice the fearsome Davy Jones. His powerful and chilling voice provides one of the most interesting and dynamic film antagonists since Darth Vader made his appearance so many years ago. The side characters also give a stellar performance that makes the world of Pirates so lively and fun.

Aside from the characters and story-telling, there is plenty of action. The swashbuckling sword duals and epic sea battles the series is known for comes back in full swing. The many action sequences provide some of the film’s greatest moments, be it the crews struggle with the harsh sea or over-the-top sword fighting that results in moments of tension, excitement, and humor. The scenes are well thought out and provide epic and memorable moments that compare to the many amazing scenes in Star Wars. The final battle at the end of the film is one of the greatest thirty minutes in filmmaking history, comparable to the destruction of the Death Star and the standoff of good and evil at the end of Lord of the Rings.

When it comes to visuals, World’s End raises the bar to a new height. The animation alone found on Davy Jones is marvel to look at, and show a real dedication to make Davy Jones as true to life as possible. Even more impressive is the lack of computer animation is many of the sequences, making the action even more compelling. Many of the actions scenes, be it the destruction of boats or intense sword battles, are all real and makes the world of Pirates even more believable. The film would not have been nearly as compelling if computer animation was used in most of the film, a big negative point against the recent Star Wars films and more recently, Spider Man 3. But World’s End uses just enough computer animation to not throw the viewer into Uncanny Valley, but still transport us to a world not like our own. An amazing musical score that is as dynamic as the film itself accompanies the visuals and propels the film into an epic scale. Listening to the music will dictate the tide of battle or the complex emotions of the characters. There is not a score out of place, and was given as much care as the rest of the movie’s many elements. This all adds to an amazing movie experience that is worth seeing over and over.

If there is only one complaint I can think of is the slight feeling of emptiness after seeing this final chapter. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End is the movie that makes you a movie fan, and ends this trilogy on a very satisfying note. It has been years since an amazing swashbuckling film has come around, but Disney went ahead and gave use three. This may be the last we see of Jack Sparrow and his friends, but I think we can all doubt this is it. I can not wait to see where his compass points to next, and I will be waiting to hear more about Jack’s adventures in the world. But for now, this pirate’s life is one to see.

5 out of 5 Stars

Pros: Acting; writing; visuals; action; just about everything; one of the best damn films ever made
Cons: It’s the end (or is it?)

I just got back from the movie itself. Can't quite comment on it though sadly because I was constantly interrupted by little kids behind me acting up! From what I saw, it was really great.
Spoiler:
I thought the ending of it was good, but the whole wedding on the ship kinda cut the romance part of the whole Will/ Elizabeth love story. Watching though, I realized that she sure loves to kiss alot of guys..... Overall though, I enjoyed it. The fight scenes were spectacular as were the special effects. The whole Calypso thing kinda threw me though. Turning big, turning into crabs, and then summoning up a fierce storm. Other than that, what was the real significance? She didn't do much else other than talk to Davy about old relations.

On April 3, 2016, Court Records Forums experienced a miracle upon that day.

I just came back from seeing it.

It was FANTASTIC imo. I'm not sure why so many critics dislike it. Quality-wise it was just spectacular. The battles were epic. The music and effects and costumes and everything was just spot-on. It was captivating and epic and emotional.

Spoiler:
Only complaint is Calypso. I just...didn't understand the point...I didn't understand what she was doing or why. I don't get what happened to her at the end. She turned huge (...point please?), she turned into crabs, and then she summoned up a storm and...disappeared. What happened? She retreated? She died? I don't know because they never cleared it up at all :/ The absolute epicness of the final half hour or so makes up for it, of course.

I just saw it and I absolutely loved it!!!

As for the Calypso part

Spoiler:
Turning huge I guess displays her power and strength. The storm was form because she was betrayed by Davy. During their encounter in her cell, Davy lied and didn't tell her that he's the one that told the pirates lords how to seal her goddess powers into human form. So when Will told her the truth she, in revenge, created the maelstrom arena for Davy's crew and Jack's to face off. At the end when Davy was killed he was free from his duty and can finally reunite with Calypso.

I also read up on Wikipedia that if Calypso did meet up with Davy (before he became the tentacle "munster") after his 10 years duty of guiding dead souls in the sea that he would be free. As for Calypso not greeting him, I can assume she was busy with Jack Sparrow at the time.

Hehehe, Davy is <3

Spoiler:
Especially human Davy.

That's the part I don't get. Why did she trust Will? She'd already been betrayed by pirates and she was in love with Davy, so why did she go ballistic on Davy based on something one pirate said? :/

I saw it yesterday. It owned, 'nuff said. The action was beautifully played out and it was nice that the movie kept it's comical humor from the first two. Some of my favorite scenes were:

Spoiler:
-Davy Jones stabbing Will through the heart
-The scene on the Endeavor before Jack launches himself off using a cannon ball:

Beckett: "You're mad!"
Jack: "Well, it's good thing I am then because, if I weren't, this would probably never work."

-Will becomes the next captain of the Flying Dutchman
-The whole battle scene inside of the maelstrom
-Jack's ship getting jacked (excuse the pun) from him at the end

Overall, I enjoyed it very much!

Just saw it today. It was awesom! :edgy:

Spoiler:
On the Kraken: Its mentioned before its found dead on the shore. Don't remember the exact line, but Becket mentions forcing Jones to kill his "pet." I assume he was referring to the Kraken. That bothers me though. Why would Becket want the Kraken dead? At this point, he controlls Jones, and therefore the Kraken, so I can't think of a reason why he would want it dead.

OK, now for my rant.
Spoiler:
I wanna say the movie was wack. I don't mean wack like the fact that they're making a movie of Bratz. By wack, I mean F.E.A.R. wack. There are moments when you're like OMG! There are moments where you're like WTF! And there are moments when your like OMGWTF! I loved most of the movie, except for the fact that it was irrelivently darker. Much like Prince Of Persia, the darkness took it out for me. The only part I didn't like was when they released Calypso, I just thought the bigness and the crabs was just kinda wierd. I loved the climactic final battle, and the fact that Barbossa quoted the talking skull from the ride about eight times. Also, another personal favorite.
Will(or Beckett. I forget): "If you want to see the instigator of the betrayal, look to your left."
Barbossa: Looks left.
Liz: Looks left.
Jack: Looks to his left, sees noone, then looks at himself. "Oh."

*AHEM* I'll start from the beginning.
Spoiler: POTC2&3
At the end of DMC, Jack got swallowed up by the Kracken and died. Cut to the beginning of AWE. The pirates begin singing, which activates those coins to say the pirate meeting will begin. Now, Our heroes go to China to not only get a map to the end of the world (it's one of those magical places that can't be found unless your lost) but to get Chow Yun Fat because he's one of the pirate lords. So now, our heroes go to the Locker, where they end up being bailed by an insane Jack. From there, they come back to the real world by rocking the boat. They get attacked because Chow Yun Fat ratted them out, Beckett gets Jack to be a traitor, and Elizabeth is given to Fat because Barbossa tricked Fat into thinking that she was Calypso, some godess of the sea or something. Fat dies and gives the Pirate Lord power to Liz. Meanwhile, Will is trying to attract the Dutchman so he can get the heart and stab it. Jack throws him off with the compass. He gets picked up by Beckett, who he makes a deal with. They go to shipwreck cove, where Liz ends up getting voted Queen of the pirates, and declares war with Jones and the East India Trading Co. During the pre war meeting, Jack is traded with Will. Jack gets thrown into the Dutchman's brig. The pirates set free Calypso, aka Tia Dalma, who creates a storm for the climactic fight. Jack breaks out, Will and Liz get married during the fight, Jack gets chest, more fighting, Jack gets key and unlocks chest, Will gets stabbed, Jack gets Will to stab the heart, Will becomes immortal and captain of the Dutchman, they go and blow up Beckett. Will bones Liz then teleports back to the ship and won't come back for 10 more years. Jack goes on a quest for teh fountain of youth.

Does that work?
